Is any one else having this problem. I drive a lot and I've used 4 or 5 car washes. I know I should be hand washing the car... although the rim shouldn't look like this.

The clear on the wheels seems especially soft. I found a long scratch on one of my wheels - not sure if it was there when I bought the car or not, but I certainly didn't scratch the darn thing. UGH.

Get some Scratch Remover from like Mothers and a micro fiber polishing cloth, wash the wheels, dry them, and then polish in a left to right motion with nothing more than light to medium pressure. You might be surprised just how much of that will come out if you cannot feel them with your finger nails. Stop driving through crap car washes and hitting tumble weeds. :)

i have a few on mine and always hand wash it. just the way the clear coat is going to be on those rims. i wouldnt worry to much about it. sucks but not much you can do.
same goes with swirl marks. I use nothing but micro fiber towels and i can see light swirls in the sun. every car has it and they will always be there.

I have found that when you clip a curb hard enough to rip the sidewall out of the tire, the rim also scratches.................deeply.

But, WTF? It's a used car now ennyway. :p

Noticed this on mine... was pissed. Looked like someone had hit it with steel wool. Then I noticed when I was spraying on tire shine and the overspray got on the scratched part the scrathces were way less obvious. I just waxed the tires with some maghiures gold class and it is now hardly noticable.

I agree. try a good wax and they almost disappear.

I agree with this. If you can remove the wheel and lay it flat, it is so much easier to polish. Then wax it.
Now stop using the car wash! No brushes at all.

I thought I was the only one with these mysterious scratches, but I always hand wash my car. I used mother aluminum polish, but I can still see them slightly.

I stopped by the dealer today, they are going to get in touch with the regional manager for GM and show him the rims... Wish me luck.

Wouldn't Al polish mess up the clearcoat on the wheels over time?

Any update on this issue? Just curious what they said.
