OK here's one for you techies...

How difficult would it be to swap out the entire front center console (stereo/AC/top gauges) between the V6 and the V8? I want the GT but much prefer the Base standard radio and AC unit. Could it be a direct swap, since the uplevel console is available on the base V6?

There is a thread over on ls1.com.au regarding swapping consoles and head units. Not for the faint hearted or me. :)

You have the upgraded system with the screen and you want to switch to the base system without the screen?

If you end up doing so let me know, I would like to get my hands on an extra premium head unit.

Well that is what I will have. I don't care for the screen or the auto A/C...kinda old fashioned that way. But I obviously want the GT so...

I'll certainly get back on here if I do end up with the car...

Enforcer...Thanks for the help. I was only able to find people swapping out factory for aftermarket. Maybe I am missing something?

The thread he linked to isn't doing exactly what you want but the guy to talk to is "vxclubby85" on that forum. His name is Adrian and he works at some sort of audio shop in Australia, No Limit or something like that. From posts on the various boards they are the most knowledgeable when it comes to the Holden/Pontiac audio system.

If you decide to do the swap, I'll pay you buck50 for the head unit.

Yes I will keep you posted. So far GMCard is not cooperating. I have $3700 on my card and they are trying to make me follow those "allowance rules", lol. I need them to make an exception or it's a no go for the G8.
