I'm having trouble trying to find a trunk lid liner the carpet thats on the trunk lid of the GT's and GXP's. Have any of you V6 owners found one? Whats the part number and price? I contacted JHP and they said that the shipping would be outragous. I called the dealership and he asked me carpet or plastic:confused: I told him carpet he quoted me $179. Don't sound right to me. My search turned up nothing but the rubber trunk liner, don't need that.

Sorry I misread the question and sent you the info for trunk carpet. :slap: Found it on another site. I'll just cut and paste it. Part Number LINER GM 92171583; Retainer 92138253 (12 needed). "If you have an Auto Zone near by you they sell the clips $5.49 for a whole package. Just your standard Christmas tree style push pin. Look for the smaller of the two choices marked GM. Only difference is GM clip has a slight texture on the head. Also any body shop should be able to sell you some". It aslo said try Greg @ Pace Performance too. The price for the retainers and lid liner on the site I tried are $2.98 and $71.00 respectively. BTW You're welcome.

Yes the pins cost half of what the damn liner costs. Try an Auto Parts store as suggested.

Not a douche bag question. There is two reasons why I'm getting the liner: 1) Looks, it just looks un-finished without one, my GTO came with one. 2) I'm doing a custom sub in the back and I may add some sound damping back there and I don't want it exposed.

The liner is not that bad compared to the $100 I spent for the GM radiator cover. I got that for almost the same reasons, looks it looked unfinished under the hood.

I haven't seen one for the G8, nither for the Aussie cars. I saw cars from the factory with that covered in carpet. A custom setup could be made though. I thought about doing something back there. When I fab up my custom sub box I'm getting rid of the stock subs, so its just going to be to big gapping holes in under there.

Hey, brother it was a cut and paste job. If you have your reciept they'll take them back. I think they changed clips at all Auto Zones within the past few days or so. Perhaps you have the new ones. Go back and ask for the old ones. Better act soon, or they're shipping them off forever. He was wrong. Not me. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :wink2:

Well I end up ordering the retainers from GM. It's hard to find the correct size of these things. Damn near made me sick to my stomach for how much they want for these things $5.49ea:bs: With military discount it still came out to $39.48 for twelve.

Ok awesome this is exactly what I was waiting for... I didnt realize that the V6 models did not have the liner whereas the GTs did so when I looked at mine and saw it looked like what is pictured above I thought there was some sort of trunk dress up through GM (like the shifter with the logo on it, or the gas cap, etc) I thought I had missed out on something here thanks for clearing it up for me :)

Anyways back on topic good luck on getting your guys trunk covers done, I have not personally seen a g8 without but my friends mustang GT/CS didnt have it and he added one with the California special logo matched to the color of the car but surrounded in the carpeting material and it really added alot to the car and he got lots of compliments a Cars and Coffee when he did it, would love to see this type of thing on a G8 best of luck to you all!!

Its a drug addiction for me. Your talking to the wrong person when it comes to spending money on cars. Sorry to say this but I think I have more money put into my GTO than what its worth and I'm still not done. So that should tell you something right there. The money I'm putting into the G8 is things that my wife wants and little things that I think how it should have left the factory. I got at least three projects on the shelf waiting to be put on the G8, with more planned. It's sad.

recieve my trunk lid liner today, ordered dec.22, 10, went to pepboys for retainers, 2.99for 15, they were a little small, so i wrap a little duck tape around them popped right in tight as glue,glad i didn't pay 40 bucks for these things, what A ripoff GM, the wife has a base 06 impala which came with a trunk lid liner,i thought pontiac was more up scale then chevrolet,whats up GM?
