Our cars have funky rubber couplings at each end of the driveshaft. Does anyone know how strong these pieces are? I sure would hate to break a rubber'. :shiner:

Just make sure the car takes a torque control pill and you'll be OK...

I'm thinking drive shaft loops should go on with any power adders.

Makes sense why TQ mgt is there now.

They have used this type of couplers by different companies for years. They hold up very well and take a lot of stress. I personally will inspect mine every oil change and probably change them at 2yr/24k regardless. Parts like these never fail at a good time and usually tear up some ***** when they do. I will not be surprised to see a 1 piece shaft available before too long. Charlie

Chain-driven motorcycles have a similar device inside the rear wheel called a "cush drive." Cush drives are polypropylene bushings between the chain drive hub and the wheel hub. They isolate the worst of the driveline lash associated with chain drives. They do harden and become less effective over time and I would imagine that the driveshaft couplers on the G8 would, as well.

Here is a write up on a GTO, but I would assume close to the g8.

That place has a good chunk of the stuff we're going to need. Hopefully they will add G8 or at least verify which of the Goat parts will work.

While I always say better safe than sorry, I'm not sure driveshaft loops would be necessary on the G8 due to the driveshaft being above the exhaust. It shouldn't be able to fall very far at all.

I contacted these folks. They said they have already bought a G8 to template parts for. Maybe we can get them to sign on as a board sponsor when they have parts ready?

BMR is cool. I used them way back in the day on my 1999 Trans AM WS6. My BMR Strutbar had a problem, but they fixed their jig and sent me a new one, no questions asked. I used thier control arms, brackets, panhard, etc. Good stuff.
