Subject: Sunroof Buffeting and/or Activation of Anti-Pinch Feature (Install New Deflector and Flocking Tape) - (Jun 25, 2010)
Models: 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 Built prior to VIN Breakpoint 9L213184
This bulletin is being revised to change update the Parts Information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 10-08-67-002 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories)
Condition
Some customers may comment on one or both of the following conditions:
Sunroof buffeting with the sunroof open at speeds between 30 and 75 km/h ( approximately 15 to 40 mph).
Intermittent activation of the "anti-pinch" feature when trying to close the sunroof.
Correction
A revised deflector has been introduced to address the above conditions. Install this part to all vehicles which experience high buffeting levels and/or intermittent activation of the anti-pinch feature.
Refer to Sunroof Deflector Replacement in SI for deflector replacement instructions.
(Two diagrams showing Flock Tape dimensions and placement)
Note: Clean the inside surface of the sunroof glass with a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water by volume on a dampened lint-free cloth to facilitate proper adhesion of the flocked, anti-squeak tape.
To ensure that a rattle condition does not occur between the revised deflector and the sunroof glass, install a piece of Kent KT13487* flocked, anti-squeak tape (or the equivalent), to the underside of the sunroof glass as shown in the graphics above. The tape should be cut 250 mm (9-7/8 in) with a width of 13 mm (1/2 in). If an equivalent tape is used, the thickness must be 0.8 mm (0.03 in).
