: Does $24k for a G8 GT with 29k mi sound right?
outbackman 10-18-2010, 03:47 PM I'm going to check out a GT with 29k mi. Just cloth, black and red interior. Black exterior.
No sunroof.
I feel like I'm getting a good trade in on my car, and this internet price is hard to beat compared to other offerings. One other car with a few more miles and a leather interior/sunroof is listed at $23,500. Other than that, no better deals I see from dealerships.
The dealer said they rejected a wholesaler's bid of $23k, for whatever that's worth.
I'm armed with lots of info from this board, thanks to all of you. Off to test drive.
One question--how do I find out what TSB's were already performed on the car? I got a chance to call the previous owner and he said the only thing they ever did was oil changes. That sounds kind of odd, given the known problems out there. But maybe his was built by leprechauns. You do hear of some GTs with no probs at all...
Good drives to all.
NorthFL-GT 10-18-2010, 04:06 PM I think 24K sounds alright. Personally I wouldn't sell mine (White Hot GT, 11,700 miles) for less than 25K. I guess it depends on what you think it is worth. The original buyer of that car probably paid between 26K and 32K depending upon when he bought it. Remember, it can't be replaced with a new one, so most people are not going to let them go for nothing.
I would pay 24k as long as it isn't full of dings and scratches.
Perhaps 10-18-2010, 04:09 PM I'm going to check out a GT with 29k mi. Just cloth, black and red interior. Black exterior.
No sunroof.

Any GM dealer can look up the car's VIN and see the history of what was performed.
G8 GoaT 10-22-2010, 12:00 PM Just bought a White Hot 2009 G8 GT w/Prem, 8500 mi. for $21k out the door. Heck of a deal, but then it should have been, my brother was the salesman.
jaxredg8 10-22-2010, 04:26 PM Like was said earlier, if its clean and not beat to crap, that deal doesnt sound to bad. JMO! Good luck.
mikemaj82 10-22-2010, 04:45 PM that sucks, mine cost $28K brand new, with leather.
T-townGT 10-22-2010, 11:26 PM I paid 24.9 @ an awesome rate, The GT was GM certified (additional 12k bumper to bumper) and this was only two months ago. Leather + Sunroof great shape and not a common color. There was also a black GT with the same options on the lot for the same price.
One month earlier I had one haggled to 24.3 that was 20k mi with leather and sunroof. The finance guy stalled returning my calls and sold to someone closer who didn't haggle has well or had a worse credit score. I didn't buy it on the first call only because they wanted to finance me @ 12.5% LOL!
If you are in close proximity to the car that is important to factor in. I didn't care about flying and traveling nearly 1000 miles since I won the $$$ at the casino to pay for the trip. I didn't want to compromise on the 3 things. Leather, sunroof, and less than 30k miles. I also wanted GM certified but wasn't too worried about it as long as it was less than 30k. I plan on driving this car 7+ years so I wanted to make sure it was exactly what I wanted.
If you are shopping nationwide decide what you want in a G8, what you are willing to pay (factor in travel cost), and be patient.
nda9090 10-23-2010, 05:51 AM I have only done oil changes and tire rotations on my GT. I haven't experienced any of the problems related to the TSBs. Good luck on the shopping trip.
Bob N 10-27-2010, 12:24 PM I bought my '09 GT with 28,800 mi. about 6 weeks ago from a Jaguar Dealer. It's loaded, Panther Black with Blk/Red leather int., Moonroof, Performace package, custom exhaust, and custom GPS in dash.
I looked for awhile and they were either SOLD when I got there, or didn't have what I wanted. Anyway I paid $24,500 and I'm not complaining.

WOW you got an incredible deal! You just nicked a 09 fully loaded G8 with a custom GPS and exhaust for an insane price... A local Buick\GM dealer is trying to Steal a G8 right now. They want 28,000 for a red GT with only a sport package, no other optional extras, and I believe 24,000 miles (and some major paint chips on the front).
Bob N 10-27-2010, 02:06 PM The exhaust is a highly polished "Varex X-Force" system from Australia. It has a small remote that opens and closes baffles in the mufflers - sweet!
The GPS is a Garmin and the modified upper dash was purchased from JHP, which also has various gauges and other mods. I found out the previous owner was a doctor, and his name, address, and phone number were stored
in the GPS. So I called him and he had the original floor mats and an extra key and remote for the exhaust. Great guy and he only sold it because he was getting too many tickets.
Stretch MFD 10-28-2010, 09:54 AM Sorry ti jump in on your thread, but this section will not let me post a new thread. I'm looking at a 2009 G8 w/ the V6. This car has just about everything on it, it has 15k on it and they are asking 22,900 for it. The only thing I am concerned about is that this car was a rental car. What are your thoughts on this.
I am also going to look at ont that is basicly the same car but with 10k on it and is 24,000.
Thanks for your help,
Larry
Bob N 10-28-2010, 10:49 AM Is the one for $24,000 with 10k a private party or dealer? If it's a dealer, you likely won't know much about the history of the car either. Both are still covered under the factory warranty.
So the choice is for about $1000 difference, which one do you like the best.

bob,
Nice find with that varex exhaust, that is a very unique exhaust setup for sure. Not many of those in the states, and quite a pretty penny to import, for sure. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Sorry about the threadjack to the OP.
Stretch MFD 10-28-2010, 09:33 PM Both cars are at dealers.
Bradley J 10-31-2010, 09:50 PM Iowa dealer want to only offer me $23k on trade (white hot, leather, 19"). Going into winter, I can't believe they are holding firm at that.....Good luck.
jackalope 11-01-2010, 07:31 AM The black and red interior in my car is leather.
zepcom 11-01-2010, 07:36 AM Yea, the cloth black and red interiors are very rare. Post up pics of the interior if you get it!

get some tips welded on that exhaust and you got your self a $1000+ set of mufflers, nice...
Bob N 11-03-2010, 12:35 PM I've been searching all over for just the right tips. They're not easy to find because they need to be no longer than 7" max. due to the distance from the mufflers. If I get tips larger in diameter than my current 2 1/2" pipe, the current ones will be seen inside the new tips unless I have them cut off close to the
mufflers.
elephantrider 04-23-2011, 11:40 AM i just paid $22k for a white hot gt with 30k miles.
not complaining about it.
G2gGolfing69 04-23-2011, 03:46 PM Welcome to the forum elephant, next time check the date on the post, no point in bring back a dead post from 5 months ago unless there is new info on it. $22 is a great price, sport and premium?
elephantrider 04-23-2011, 04:39 PM yup, its got all the bells and whistles.

No worries, sounds like you got a great deal. Enjoy the car, I know I do.
Steve1968LS2 04-25-2011, 09:04 AM I've been looking around and they seem to be holding thier value better than many cars. Most likely helps that you can't buy a "new" one.
elephantrider 04-25-2011, 09:22 AM i think the not being able to buy a new one is
really helping the value stay up. they are for
sure worth the $$$, so if you find one for $25k
or less, i'd snatch it up.
99aggiegrad 04-25-2011, 01:16 PM First car I've bought new, with traditional financing and minimal down, that has EVER had any equity.
My service consultant just sold his to the DEALER for $22k.
mistarnova 04-25-2011, 02:19 PM i got my 08 with premium package for 23,9 with 36k miles on it :\ the dealer didnt even get a chance to put their stickers and stuff on it before i came in and saw/heard it... one listen to the notstock exhaust that was on it and i was sold :p in hindsight i probably coulda and shoulda waited for one with the sport package too but i got bootystruck :p
Lurch 04-25-2011, 02:26 PM I paid $18k before tax/title/extended warranties. 18k miles on the clock...
Then again, this was just before Pontiac went under.
