Well I picked up a 2009 G8 gt in September 32k on the odometer right now. I have been doing a lot of reading here. I had to register to see the pictures so here I am. If only I could choose what mods to do first. I just want to do performance ones not really into making the ride look custom I'm more of a sleeper type of driver.

Thinking when all is said and done I will go as far as these. In no particular order yet any suggestions? Thanks.

1.Rotofab CAI
2.Shorty headers
3.Hi flo cats
4.Corsa cat back
5.Possible Intake/Throttle body porting
6. Possible Tune
7. Profit??:driving:

CAI/tune are the biggest bang and if you can swing headers at the same time then even better but do long tubes, longer is always better.....ah, ah..

welcome

Long tubes not legal in good ol California if I am right? I was thinking I could do shorty Carb approved headers with hi flo cats then put stock cats back on for smog? Taking the long tubes on and off would be a pain in the ass.

If you truly want a sleeper just get a maggie.
If you want a sleeper on more of a budget, skip the corsa and stay with the stock catback + LTH's. If you want more noise occasionally then get cutouts too.
The LTH's + Corsa will not be a sleeper combo but does sound awesome.

This is my brothers account posted on it by accident.

Sigh my brother used my computer to read the forum. He sighed in with his user ID I posted under his by accident.

Anyways I figured that trying to stay too quiet would cost me in the long run. Maybe I will just go for the performance mods and just keep a stock appearance at least from a distance it will look like a large family sedan but come near it and hear it growl. Thanks

Agreed on the CAI / Tune as being best bang for the buck. Welcome.

Thanks that does sound like the way to go, now I just have to research tunes that can be redone easily when future mods are added.

cortex takes like 5 minutes to tune or go back to stock. did they offer you any warranty with your car?

They offered but i declined they wanted 2100 for a 5 year 60k warranty which was just a crap service contract from fidelity. I paid $22,700 for the base 09gt (I wanted cloth seats) with 31k miles. Its probably not the best deal but I got the color I was looking for Pacific Slate Metallic. The only one that color with cloth seats within at least 1500 miles at the time I was looking. I carry my dog with me a lot he is the one in the avatar. Leather would probably cause him injury if he slides during a little heavy acceleration or he might scratch them up.

Love that avatar pic!!

I too opted for the cloth; had full decked out leather on a previous 1997 Bonneville SSE back in the day, that got old real quick. Even with 9x power seat adjusters, cold in the winter, hot in the summer, and way too plush/hard to be comfortable, at least in that car.

Love my cloth interior!

Yea I got the remanding warranty until july 2012 or 36k miles. I am driving it just on weekends now I have a commuter car. I was thinking of getting a gm service contract its cheaper and might help in the future. Then again when modding I am not sure if that will void the service contract lol.

I got it as a previous rental from hertz I looked at it ran auto check it seemed like a good deal, especially since it was exactly 4 miles from my home. It was driven a bit for a year old but they had records showing regular maintenance and the recalls done to brake lights and tire pressure units.

Other than the bumper having a small crack which I noticed during my inspection. I liked the car a lot so I bought it. I do notice there is some residue around the power steering pump doesn't look like a leak more like the seals/gasket may have seeped and now doesn't its dry but dirt stuck to it. Might take it in to get checked when I buy a second switch blade key.

Well I have since ordered the following :)
1. Rotofab and parts to make HSRK
2. Solo high flow cats.
3. livernois tune software.

I just have a question not sure anyone here will read it but its about the tune. Am I thinking this correctly when I receive it do I just email them the stock file downloaded via their software and tell them the mods I have?

Then they email me back the file to load to the car. Also then in the future if I get shorty headers and cat back I repeat this process? I am hoping that with these mods it will work good. I was planning on a corsa cat back and jba shorty headers down the road.

Basically, yes. You can email or PM back and forth with Livernois to discuss your needs and tune files as your needs and mods change over time.
