Yeah I have already disected one and have the gears been quoted for production.... that was last year actually!

I got a whole rear in the crate brand new from GMH..... It's impossible to get anything differential related from anyone but Holden ZF has a tight contract with them therefore "all" sales go through GMH...... with ratio limits of 3.70 (GTS)and the vehicles gross mass we all know lower ratios are a 'must' and with a list price of over $1000 for a ring and pinion only something has to be done! :punch:

ZF? Isn't that a German company?

ZF? Isn't that a German company?

That is correct!

ZF has a very good reutation for durability and strength... time will be the true test!

And I'm not sure about a AWD car..... ZETA is completely new platform so I really don't think anything will be done in the near future?

I'll tell ya something, if it does come out in AWD, I will most likely be skipping the ole camaro and heading towards the G8

Ohh, a G8 combined with a Coupe4 is what dreams are made of...

Coupe4 while being great, doesn't exactly have refinded AWD like you would find in a EVO. They would need to up the ante a bit for it to be a success.

AWD would definitely be a huge plus for me too. Like an affordable Audi RS4 is what the car would be then.

They should find a way to build a car the size of the old Grand Ams with 400+ HP & AWD. That would be fun.

I'd have been happy if the car would have been rear drive.

Someone was posting on GMI, that the AWD option was canned when GMNA decided they wouldn't pursue a Zeta program a few years ago. It did have the option at one stage but was deemed to expensive to justify for Oz alone (+ its export markets). Now that they have done a back flip, i would bet that it will be a few years away yet.

I myself don't doubt we will sometime soon see an AWD version ZETA car of some kind!

What manual trans comes in the Commodore and how does it feel? Is it the T-56 from the GTO/Monaro?

Basically yes!

The six-speed manual used in V6 versions (including SV6 and Ute) is a different trans to the V8 application

The V6 uses a sweet shifting Aisin D173

I'm not so sure that' a good thing. T-56's can take a beating but they aren't the smoothest shifting transmissions out there.

So they stopped using DANA? Or the old Borg Warner stuff?

Now ZF?

Any data on clutch life expectancy and replacement cost with this transmission? Is it the same one Cadillac uses?

I admit to owning a Turbo Sunbird for 4 years and 2 clutches. It could be my shifting style or lack thereof, of course. I'm thinking about a manual again after 19 years. Can you say delayed mid-life crisis?

A link to information on some GM stuff that has recently come out, dated January 2005. The info on the 6L80 is on the last page. The tranny serves duty in the supercharged Northstar 4.4 V8 in the Cadillac STS-V as well.
