Ok, I give....which brakes are the GXP's going to get? I was under the impression they would be off the HSV...now I read that's not the case. So which are better?

It looks like the HSV's are bigger 4 pots in the front and the backs are also bigger but also 4 pots...the gxp will only have single piston in the rear.

It looks like OZ will always have a better version of this car than we will.

Single Piston in the rear? Wow what a letdown. Oh well even LESS of a reason to get a GXP, besides the crazy high price of $40k they will be trying to get! Haaaa.

Just thought I would put this out here for what it is worth:

Made contact with Walkinshaw Performance in the UK as they work with the Vauxhall VXR8. He told me that the G8 has the same brakes as the Holden SS.

Been trying to find a compatible set with no luck.

On the VE ( US G8) HSV run AP racing brakes, front are 665mm x 32mm ventilated and grooved disk 4 piston clalipers, rears are AP racing brakes front are 350mm x 26 ventilated and grooved disk 4 piston clalipers. Before the AP racing calipers it was Harrop engineering gear. You can buy lots of these complere new setups front and rear on Oz Ebay for under $3000 AUD, These sets retail for over $8000 from HSV new if you felt the urge to go out and buy some. They do look very sexy though and stop on a dime Thet say 33 meters from a 100km/h

Did you mean 365mm? 665mm is over 26 inches. Man those would be some big brakes!

the GXP has Brembo calipers on the front, with a disc around the 340-350mm i think
it will run the GT brakes on the rear, as the HSV's rears have a different rim offset, and the GXP's wheel would end up sitting 1" too far inside the guard!

anyway who needs bigger brakes in the rear when you can compression lock? :D

We will be releasing a brake upgrade for the G8 within a few weeks. They will be 4-piston on all 4 wheels, and very economically priced.

:bubbrubb: Yay!

Any chance of a brake duct kit as well?

It has not been a viable consideration as there are significant difficulties in getting ducts to clear all components during full steering and suspension modulation.
With the right rotor/pad/caliper combination, most people run out of talent before running out of brakes. :)

Thanks, that's probably better news than a "yes" would have been. Prevents me from spending extra money!

The new 427 HSV will have AP brakes. 6 piston in the front and 4 piston in the rear.

I would imagine the Camaro at some point will have this engine. Would be nice to see it in a G8, but I do not beleive the legacy GM guys will allow it
