Damn that looks nice! especially in the dark. It's not bright to the point were you go blind but is still clearly visible and looks awsome!

Are these paper or plastic?

Those could be both paper or plastic.
Plastic won’t be out for a while, not enough G8s are out yet. The black portions of it always have plastic finish on them to make the indicators work properly.
We need minimum of 15-20 units of each color before we will put it in full plastic. As of the moment, the color finish is not allowing the brake and tire pressure indicators to be used on the speedometer side of the dial.
The brake symbol can be moved to the right black section of the indicators (actually defaulted there for Canada) and as for the tire indicators, they will be still showing in the middle of your DIC if something goes off with them. We do have a version with a black center which allows all indicators to work as they do now in G8.

Is it just a face that you replace on your stock gauges? Or a whole new cluster? I have found in the past it is hard to center the needles back on and on a new car would hate to ruin it trying to do that.

Just a face
Do not do it yourself if you cant do it LOL , most likely self install is not an option anyway

That font looks so much better than the crappy action movie poster stuff the car comes with.

Agreed. Something like this that was G8 themed and retained the stock color scheme with a matching JHP Atari gauge replacement would be so worth the munny.

YOU KNOW I AM IN ON THIS!!!!!!
You should also make sure Travis (white SSV conversion), and Penguin know about this. I think I would want a black background. Maybe Orange, as my plan for sometime way in the future is to do a custom Leather, and Suede interior with Orange stitching.

I wish they had one where the tach either was blank or had a pontiac logo, and the speedometer said 'G8'

What are we looking at for durabilty? If they are just paper will they last?

BrandonG777

Being that it's a pretty much enclosed area and not much direct sunlight hitting it I would expect them to last awhile.

Once you have the paper though you could probably take it to a vinyl shop and they could make them in vinyl.

If you look at the original date of my post, you will realize that there isn't enough interest in them. That's why they are still not put into the mass production in plastic form.
Paper Gauges are too fragile to send them to customers for self-install.
It means it needs to be sent for installation and needle recalibration to California.
I have yellow gauges in my GTO for over 4 years now and they still look the same as they did on the day I put them in.

:wink2:
Those are plastic coated I made for my future HSV conversion. I found Pontiac style to be too boring.

DADE those look awesome. I had some gauges I put in my mustang .How muchdid you pay for those? I have asked before but no word.
I bought them and installed them by taking out the cluster and pulling off the needles and being careful. Can you send me some info on how to get them.

BUMP! What happened with this thread?
Cost?
Where do I send my cluster?
I think shipping them might be possible.
A company I do some contracting for sends out really nice certificates. They put them between two thick pieces of cardboard. You could use a padded legal size envelope.

Lets start a poll and see if you get enough to get the gauges done. They look great :judge:

That's cool. I like the fact there is an actual REDLINE.

dede and Monaro@JHP are pioneers when it comes to gauge pods and innovating new things for it. It all started with the GTO and now they have moved onto the G8 world. Believe me, what they show you is of the utmost quality, some, if not being not for sale due to lack of demand, which is sad, as it was the same way for a product or two for the GTO.

Just wanted to chime in, carry on.

Dave.

I will be doing a set early next month when I go to Europe. I am doing Ignition Orange.
It is a cheap enough upgrade that if I don't like the color or they fade, I will have them redone.
