Hey guys,

There hasn't seem to be alot going on here lately. I Know I've blasted GM/Pontiac for not doing enough to drum up excitement.

So is the site dead because we don't have a car to go out and test drive/purchase or not enough interest because of no updates,E-mails,press Releases from Pontiac, Both?

Let's here something from the members and if anybody here is connected to the G8 program, now would be a good time to let us know what the actual car is going to look like.

http://www.g8board.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=119&d=1188148944

Hope this car isn't the final design that makes it to the dealer showrooms. Any appealing options that haven't surfaced/ been discussed yet?

Let us know why we should be waiting for this car.

Its the downside of haveing so much info at your fingertips. It forces you to be patient and not blow that down payment money.

I don't know what Luke thinks will be way different from what is possibly a pre-production unit seen in his pic from Woodward Dream Cruise. ( unless this is the red one from Wisconsin press outings ). I agree there is very little from GM, not even ordering RPOs, let alone pricing. If they want to keep us in the corral they better drop some breadcrumbs or we'll be shopping the new Accord (just announced last week, here's even money it makes it onto Honda lots prior to the first boatload of G8s hitting the water - any takers?)

The chrome accents need to be optional. IMO. The rear of the car looks a little drab. What wheel packages will be available? Spill the beans on a GXP. They need it right away and not an extra year later. That would definitely be a botched launch for sure on the G8.

I mostly like the interior from the pictures I've seen. Sure would be nice to see one in person at my dealer.

I think the steam is running out for the G8. Pontiac needs to add some 'Fuel for the Soul' if they don't want the fire to go out. Two freaking pre-production cars (with ugly chrome trim, horrible wheels, and a wimpy rear end appearance) is the best they can do? What happened to being the 'Pontiac flagship' and 'taking on BMW'?

I agree. They need to start getting some info out on this car. I want one, but will start looking elsewhere at the beginning of the year if they can't give out firm pricing and arrival dates soon.

I'm also tired of hearing the manual will follow later. Just get it done!

I'm very interested in the G8, but it's hard to wait with so little "bait" information available. I've been watching this and other sites for months, and I've even gone out and test driven the older GTO (and Charger) to get some idea of what's coming.

But I'm very tempted just to go out an buy either the Charger or GTO right now.

It can be hard to wait.

I fear that we are still 60 to 90 days away from the sort of information most are looking for: Independent tests published, availability of & prices for various options & groups.

I doubt we will hear much of substance from GM until a month or so before launch – and that still appears likely not until after 1 January.

So – my ** GUESS ** is that the earliest we’ll see anything more specific will be in the magazines in issues mailed at the end of November, early December – and even then, pricing may not be released until 3 or 4 weeks before the official ‘on-sale’ date.

We’ll see.

Waiting – patiently - because I do not ** NEED ** a new car, today . . .

Well, my wife **needed ** a new car months ago. We want to buy a GM product, but GM doesn't have one on the lots currently that appeals to us.

GM has been very slow in getting a North American model to production. GM could have retooled an entire existing facility in the US or Canada for a NA model and had it in production if they tried. So getting a car out of Australia on an already existing line should be a no brainer. Some auto companies can build entire factories and be online in two years.

I'm calling GM out for being WEAK. Maybe GM should do a whole lot of firing and get some kick @ss managers.

Edit: on another tread someone says the 08 brochures are finally out.

I have to say this thread has generated the most traffice I've seen in a while.

GM has been getting pelted for looks and being slow at:

The most scathing (mine included) were reviewed and unposted. I took them to task for not even being able to assign RPO codes and put the info in Dealerworld, saying I could wait on the pricing, although that IS important. If they want the first boatload to be pre-sold they better start taking orders (even for October production which is only 5 weeks away.

Now that the Accord grows bigger than the Camry and becomes a player in this segment POntiac has another target (that no one can hit) to aim for in pricing.

False alarm on the brochures. There is mention of the G8.

Nothing but a pic and a couple sentences spread out over two pages.

Thanks goes out to 'need4spd' for scanning the pages.

I'm a new member and started a new thread yesterday...

So there's some new people interested in it. :)

To some, it may be weird, but I'd love to have a G8 to replace my Nissan Titan as a tow vehicle. Huh?

Well, the VE Commodore SS can tow 2100kg (4600+ lbs) if properly equipped. My interest piqued on that for the sole reason in that my track car and trailer are 4500lbs... even though it's still within the tow limit, I could sell the 2400 lb trailer, replace it with an 800lb aluminum rig to tow my 2000lb car, and have a much more fun daily driver, meanwhile having a vehicle that can get my race car and I to and from the racing. :D

So, dump the truck, get a very fun car that can haul more than ass.... (and eventually push it around some cones too for auto-x... 'cuz it can)

Heck, I'd probably run it in SCCA auto-x FS on non-track days.

All I need to know is how to 'properly equip it', and if it can be ordered that way like down-under.
