If you have bought a full-size spare for your GT, I have some questions for you.

Besides the tire/wheel, what else is necessary? I went to the dealer inquiring about a space saver spare from the V6 model and there's a ton of parts under the spare itself (including some large piece that presumably holds the jack and tools). All of that stuff cost about $200. I'm just wondering if that large piece will fit under a full size wheel. Did any of you buy all the other parts along with a tire/wheel? Do you need to buy the circular "spinner" that holds the tire down or can you use the one supplied that holds down the air pump? Thanks!

I have a full sized spare.

The spinner used to hold down the inflator works perfectly with the full sized spare. It fits right into the hub and is probably the same part used in the V6 or Oz cars.

I got a GM jack for a current impala from a junk yard for $5 and it fits perfectly, that is placed in a box that is tied down to the rear of the back seat so it does not move around.

You will also need a breaker bar (I already had a gorilla bar type unit) and have that also in the box that is tied down. The right breaker bar may fit over the side of the tire in the well, and you probabaly can pick up one cheap from an auto parts store.

I would skip the jack and tire iron from the stealer, go for some used jacks and breaker bars instead.

I use the space inside the rim part of the spare to store other stuff and keep it out of the trunk, my jack and breaker bar however, do not fit inside the rim area.

I went to NAPA and bought a 4 lug wrench and a brand new scissors jack. I wrapped the wrench in bubble wrap and left the jack in the box. I put the jack inside the tire and the wrench under the tire then as need4spd said used the spinner to hold the full size spare and everything down. Works great, no rattles and didn't take up anymore trunk space. Anyone need a big piece of black styrofoam?? :)

I'm sure I'll know the answer once my car finally gets here, but are you guys saying the GT doesnt come with a spare and jake at all, or it comes with a full size but still no jack??? non of that makes sense

Like the GP GXP, no spare, no jack, just a tire repair/inflate kit.

When I had my whole Tire Rack ordeal with my Breyton wheels, I'm ending up with a 5th wheel, tire, and TPMS. So I will have a matching spare in my car. I have a Gorilla wrench, and will pick up a small scissor jack. I may not tote it around all the time when I'm in my home area, but if I take a highway trip then I'll load it up. Who knows, but I will have one.
