G8Smitty 07-03-2008, 09:08 PM I finally got my wheels pieced together and installed. They are Beyern Mesh 18". The fronts are 245/45 and the rears are 275/40. Thanks to everyone who helped, I really appreciate it!

Majorachre 07-03-2008, 09:56 PM Very nice touch to leave the arrowheads intact.
RumblingG8 07-03-2008, 10:24 PM Those look great!!! I have always liked the Beyern. They were really popular on the GTO's too.
You need to get out to some of the KC stuff. There is a website you may not know about, http://kcpmc.proboards44.com/. It is the Kansas City Pontiac Motorsports Club. There is not a G8 area but I've been posting in the GTO section...I'm still IndepGTO there. Check it out.
You haven't gotten a ticket yet for no front license plate???
G8Smitty 07-03-2008, 10:39 PM Thanks for the info, I'll have to check it out.
I had a GTO too. 06 SRM 18"
I haven't received a ticket for no front license plate (knock, knock, knock). I think I am good here in Lee's Summit. I work right next to the Police station and haven't been hassled. I'm sure it will be a different story out by Lotawanna (sp?). I bought my G8 over in Kansas and they hadn't drilled the holes, so I thought I'd risk it... at least until it becomes a problem. I carry it in my trunk for whatever it is worth.
Mr. Sandog 07-04-2008, 12:24 AM Very nice !!! I like these wheels a lot.
I have a request...can you get a profile shot (or two) from the side - straight on from the side? I'd like to see the wheels straight on.
Also, maybe one or two directly behind, so we can see how far the rear wheels & tires stick out in relation to the wheel well. Thanks!
quitplayn 07-04-2008, 05:39 AM Clean classy look, good stuff.

Exactly what I was thinking. Very nice.
G8Smitty 07-04-2008, 02:08 PM Sandog, as requested, here are the additional pictures. The 275's seems as though they could go even wider. Thanks for your help!

G8 Ray 07-04-2008, 05:07 PM Those in black would look great on my car.
I wonder how they would fit on a lowered G8. I think your car looks great.
Ray, yep. They would look great.

Mr. Sandog 07-04-2008, 08:24 PM Nice. I assume you got the 18x8.5's with a 40mm offset, and the 18x9.5's with a 45mm offset. I think this is the minimum we need in order to lower without rubbing. I venture a 45mm offset in the front and a 50mm offset in the back would be ideal.
As far as tire width, each tire maker has a range of allowable specs of wheel widths for each particular tire width. I bet you could fit a 285 or 295 under there, but you may have needed a 10" wheel in order to do it.
Excellent work, Smitty - appreciate you being the guinea pig on these. Sharp!!!
GXPaycheck 07-04-2008, 10:33 PM Very nice!!

You are correct on the offsets. I'm not sure if you remember, but you gave me the idea to modify my calipers, which I had to do. I had to shave off about an 1/8" on the outside corner of the caliper (I blended it to make it look more uniform, I should probably paint them now). There is about 1/16" of clearance now.
I also received my new hub centers today from Zim over at ls2gto.com. They look much better then what I put together.
I appreciate the kind words and I hope this helps someone else out there wanting to put something together!

What a coincidence. I had an '06 SRM GTO as well with the factory 18's. I had put staggered AZA Z-1 19" wheels on it and had to grind the rear fenders to get them to fit right. I totalled that car on May 22 so was forced to buy something new. Had to stick with the Aussie's. Love the G8 but am already going nuts on mods. Trying to see if I can break my 13.02 1/4 mile at KCIR in the goat.
Rue_G8GT 07-09-2008, 09:50 AM Very nice!
Stingpac 07-09-2008, 10:22 AM Very Nice ! Very classy ... Definitely compliments the car ... I just wish they were 19's instead.
Cashed 07-09-2008, 12:21 PM those wheels look great. nice work!
