I read somewhere that the 6spd AT on these cars is rated by GM to be in the ~450hp/tq range.

All I intend to do to mine when I get it is add a Magnacharger, intake, AR Long headers, borla axleback and tune.

I'm guessing this after the tune will put it right into or just over the max of the GM rating. Do you think the trans could hold all this being used as a street only car that's not driven particularly hard?

I want the power on tap for bragging rights and passing power but I don't intend on racing the car except for maybe a pass or two down the 1/4 for numbers.

Are there any ways to beef up the trans to handle the power?

How about increasing power transfer? That parasitic loss is a bee-otch.

Thx.

That's all? LOL

You are way past 450hp. Hell, you're past 450hp at the wheels.

There have been threads where guys have posted that there are Vettes making in excess of 600hp and the trans (same one) is holding up.

Please don't forget that this a 4000lb car squatting on skinny axles, has to be the weakest spot on the car.
