: Dazed and confused
racerx 07-12-2008, 09:38 AM Went to this link as I'm very interested in the lower mesh grill in black.
link: http://www.pfyc.com/pc/G81010/G8NEW/RaceMesh+Precision+Grilles+-+08-09+G8.html
Price starts at 349, and when you select the black lower grill it jumps to 5 something... WOW...
Don't get me started on price gouging....so, for the base price of 349, anybody what the hell am i getting???
you get the kidney grills...
racerx 07-12-2008, 11:00 AM ah, ok, thanks
11sec.shovel 07-12-2008, 11:39 AM Interesting find. Quite pricey though. Thinkin they would look nice on my black. Too bad youd have to do both kidneys and lowers in polished S.S. for the best look. $600.00 OUCH!!!!!
Atlas 07-12-2008, 11:56 AM race mesh stuff is good but very expensive... i remember they wanted $850 for grilles on the SS...
Blackdevil77 07-12-2008, 12:21 PM looks nice but personally, I like the honey comb grilles. Don't ask me why but thats one thing I've always liked about this car.

Yea, me too. I'm not a great lover of shiney stuff.

I just called the dealership parts department and the cost of the kidneys alone are $87.97 ea ($175.94 set), so when you consider you are getting new OEM grilles prefabricated with the RaceMesh, in the color (they offer 3) of your choice, the pricing is not bad. IMHO

I just went there and the Lower Grilles in PC Black with shipping came to $216.99. Where / how do you get "5 something" for the lower grilles in black?
..........I'm thinking of getting the upper kidneys and lower grilles in stanadard stainless steel, as this has a "satin" look and not too bling for me.

Reread his post. He said when you add the lower grilles the total jumps to 5 something, not that the lower grills were 5 something.

00 Trans Ram 07-25-2008, 03:44 PM HOLY PRICE-GOUGING, BATMAN!!!!!!
Guys, seriously - do this yourself. Pegasus Auto Racing supplies (http://www.pegasusautoracing.com) sells 24"x36" sheets of stainless wire mesh in fine, medium or coarse patterns for $30 per sheet.
Trim the honeycomb out of the stock grill, affix the mesh to the trim, and reinstall the piece.

Hmmm, they (Pegasus) don't offer any color options, or painted surrounds? Also, its seems that the wire diameter they offer is much thinner than what RaceMesh uses. I'll stick with the pros building my custom grilles for my G8! Thanks for the info anyway my friend.

00 Trans Ram 07-25-2008, 04:13 PM Not sure what RaceMesh uses. The stuff Pegasus has is .047" diameter wire for their "coarse" mesh, .035" diameter wire for their medium mesh, and .025" wire for the "fine" mesh.
Yeah, there's no painted surround.
We could never make something that looks as good as the kidney grills; but you could do the lower grills yourself and have them look the same.

Probably not, since the wire sizes would not match and the finishes would also not match? Oh well, like they say, you get what you pay for!
why they want so much for aftermarket parts.....I CAN'T BELEIVE THE PRICES!
losted125 07-25-2008, 11:19 PM to the drawing boards i go....or the bank for a loan

......factor in the cost of new OEM parts - included in the prices.
