What do you think?
Looks great but $560? I was willing to go $399 but now I'm stuck.

Well you gotta remember that it is coming from AU... I dunno, kinda depends on functionality, but tis is the cleanest aftermarket kit I have seen.

is it really aftermarket? Is this not what the Aussies have. However they ripped it out of the USA version?

No, I do not believe this is the Holden OEM product. It looks like it is this aftermarket product: http://www.vizualogic.com/cig_blue.html

we never claimed it to be OEM device. It's designed to fit and look factory. Here's a good picture of what's included. The first harness is about $100 and it's not availalbe from anybody besides JHP because we developed connectors in house which makes it 100% plug and play to your factory stereo. The second harness is sbout $60 and we assemble it in house as well. The microphone to fit factory location is about $60 and is made in house also.
The box is made by VisualLogic but it's modified to work with G8.
The device works like OnStar. You press a button, it shows "voice in" and after that it works as any bluetooth headset.

I agree that you never said it was OEM. However, my response was to dltv's question as to whether it was the Holden OEM part.

As I expected, you have done the work to make a plug and play solution, which would be the value add over the universal Vizualogic part. I recognized it because I had also identified that aftermarket solution as a possible solution when I get my G8.

For a plug-n-play device that isn't made in China (not that there is anything wrong with that) and also not made in bulk (because there aren't a lot of these cars), that price isn't that bad. It might be cheaper if they built their own BT device (although, we'd have to zero out man hours), as sourcing it from someone else, adds to the cost a LOT. Either way, looks like a decent piece.

That is one reason I put off getting a 2009 for a few months. Mid model year they are suppost to have the new gen. onstar that will include bluetooth. At least they now have XM standard.

It has something to do with the next generation of Onstar. The new generation might not have been ready to install into the '09 G8's b/c of their early production start. I know that most, if not all 2009 GM cars with Onstar will be getting Bluetooth but I don't think they started installing the new generation units into GM vehicles until sometime in June. The reason I say that is 09 Corvettes have Bluetooth and production began on those about a month ago. The question is, have they started installing them in the '09 G8's yet?
