I can't get into the NASCAR racing, but love when NASCAR does the road tracks. This is just exciting to watch.

That was good.
It's one thing to catch a car.
It's a whole different game to pass a car.

Thanks for the vid.

Love Holden, love my 6lt Commodore but can't get into V8 SuperCars.
I agree that the race last week was a cracker and made for a grand stand finish, but for me it's hard to get excited about cars (i.e. Holden v F--D) which are essentially the same build, same motor but carry a different badge.

I long for the days when Australian Touring cars had back seats, door panels and dash boards. Go racing for the price of the car plus the same amount to put it on the track regardless of brand.

Another series you may not have seen is the Australian Touring Car Masters. Here's a clip from one of the races at Bathurst last year as a lead up race to the Super Car's. Got to love the old cars...BTW, the first 5-7 cars finished in camera shoot of each other.

Also love to see the Aussie V8 Supercar Series. At least the cars look much closer to the real ones.

Do not take me wrong, I like NASCAR and try to watch every single race. But seems they lost their way with those Cookie Cut Cars.

Then you'd really HATE nascar, our American equivilant to what they call "racing".

Nascar cars are all the same exact body... or should I say "shell" ... non-opening doors, stickers differentiate which are "chargers" verses "Camrys" .... take off the stickers, and they're identical.

I'm sure by seeing Holdens and Falcons on every corner in Austrailia, it's a little bland to you. But here in the states, with the rarity of the g8, the V8 supercars (with working lights, integrated pneumatic jack points, opening and closing doors, real mirrors, and what looks to be a similar-to-production body on the frame) is much more realistic to us than the sticker cars that we have over here to race. Add to that the beautiful road courses you have over there (Abu Dabi was beautiful last week... and my favorite is Bathhurst!) and it's icing on the cake.

I have V8 supercars as the top priority recording on my FiOS Tivo. Watch it every week. Did you happen to catch my avatar over there on the left? That's my team Vodaphone car I got for Christmas! :wink2:

Plus, how exciting is it watching cars that only turn left! :( lol :drink:

To say some about NASCAR defense. One of the reasons of having an Oval Track is the only type of track available in the southern states were Horse Tracks. Another thing about Oval Tracks that road courses does not really have is better visibility. So you can pretty much follow all the action on the track.

The NASCAR "game" is more about strategy and how you can fine tune the car to have an advantage over the other driver. Is a lot of sit and wait, granted, but is more than just watching people going on circles. Is a form of motor sports. The only gripe that I have is because for the sake of leveling the field and preventing from one Manufacturer from dominating the sport, is the cars are pretty much equal except for the engine development. Each Manufacturer has its own program.

One thing that I noticed about road courses is that is hard to pass and is hard to watch on most courses. Specially the ones that are about 2 miles or more.

But anyway, they are 2 different stiles of racing and like them both :D
