I am learning a new camera system, the sunset lighting conditions gave it fits and I am still working on getting the sound level right. I hope these will only get better as the year progresses.. enjoy.

Nice run... Was that your last run? How many runs do you guys usually get?

How is you camera mounted in the car? What type of camera are you using?

Sorry about all the questions!

Cheers,
JJ

Nice run... Was that your last run? How many runs do you guys usually get?

We get 3-4 runs depending on the club hosting the event, attendance and daylight available. There were 4 runs this past weekend. I had one more but it was slower by about .006 seconds. I just posted the fastest run.

How is you camera mounted in the car? What type of camera are you using?

I am using a ContourHD camera if you click on the video link that is actually hosted on the company's website - you can click on cameras and see what they have. I am thinking about the one that has the GPS built in that would allow live tracking on the map of where the video was taken from, but am testing this used camera out first.
The camera comes with helmet and goggle mounts so I ended up converting/modifying an old GPS mount to camera duty. If I get a chance I will snap a picture of it.

Here is a picture of the camera and mount.

I had it mounted to the inside of the windshield behind the rear view mirror. I might try other locations as I continue learning what works best with this set up.

Thanks for the information, I will check that out!

I would also like to get live data acquisition at some point, not the highest on my list of to do's, but is in the back of my mind.

Cheers,
JJ

Here's a pic of the mount for my iPhone. No video from it yet (this was just a test fitting).

Did they give you a radio or were they broadcasting on a am/fm channel? Either way they have come a long way since I went cone hunting. Nice big track too.

They broadcast on FM in STL.

I was thinking the same thing. That was a nice track they had setup. Seemed like much higher speeds than we get here.

San Diego's track is a pretty large surface with plenty of elevation changes and off camber corner possibilities. Pretty challenging stuff. We have the national tour stop here every year and lot of national champions in our regular crowd. The biggest players nationally will show up a month early to race this surface in our local champ in the weeks leading up to tour stop.

Our courses end up about a mile long most events, and I usually see the top of second gear somewhere along the way

We normally don't get a lot of rain here. We lost a corvette in the morning on this course due to wet conditions and a driver that really lost it, never got out of the throttle and left the lot running backwards into a k-rail.

I've not had a chance to really used it properly (ie. on the track), but I've been able to cut a couple of tenths from my drive to work!
