: Bluetooth not working in my 09? Cannot pair phone.

Hi-

Just got my '09 3 days ago. I cannot seem to get Bluetooth to work - the manual says to press the off hook button on the steering wheel and hold it for 2 seconds, onstar says "Onstar Ready" - you speak "Bluetooth" and it's supposed to answer "Bluetooth Ready". It just says "Thank you. Goodbye".

Any ideas? It just won't pair my phone. After saying Bluetooth, it's supposed to enter into the pairing sequence.

Thanks!

No Bluetooth in 2009's until the middle of the year....so while your manual gives you directions for operating it, there is no Bluetooth system hardware present.

Man that's a let down for early 09 owners if they didnt know...

Yeah, I'm not impressed with how GM/Pontiac is handling this. First, it's the 'most powerful sedan under $30,000'....that goes up $1,300 after 3 months on the market. Then XM and Bluetooth are promised for 2009, and both show on the build sheets, but only XM shows up, with no explanation. So for $1300 you get XM, no Bluetooth, no explanation, and no date as to when Bluetooth will show up. Not very swift in my book.

And, considering my dealer said IT DID have it, I guess that's something to bring up to them as well!

Thanks!

Hadn't tried it but I already knew it didn't have it so why bother but on the other hand if you were to say yours had it I'd be pissed right now...

Wonder what they'll have to do to correct this. When I was being orientated on the onstar, I asked about bluetooth and synching my phone. Sales rep said it was covered in the manual. Since I was the first 09 they delivered... probably didn't know.

I'd pay $ to ditch OnStar for Bluetooth.

So are instructions for Bluetooth in the Manual? If yes then does it say out to the side:

Bluetooth Instructions(if equipped)

Instructions ARE in the manual but I'll have to check on the "if equipped" part...

I am willing to bet that once the later builds come in then you will be able to retrofit the system. I don't tink it will work with the 08s but who knows. You could ask your dealership to do a retrofit for you or yu could go up tere and pitch a fit and get your old car back.

If Equipped It's all about the fine print.

The 2009 G8 Owner's manual (avilable to dealerships on line) Bluetooth section starts this way:

Vehicles with a Bluetooth system ........

i can bet you will NOT be able to retrofit it

Bluetooth is part of ONSTAR

Dont think they will just chang the onstar module on the new cars?

Dont think they will just chang the onstar module on the new cars?

They will
But onstar module is integrated into the car. It cannot be simply replaced. you can only replace it with the same exact model and it has to be preprogrammed to a specific car including a VIN number.

I bet its just a new rear view mirror and a hidden module.

You do not need a mirror... and if Dede does not think it will work with a new module I will defer to him. He is a little more in the know about our cars electonics than I am. (By a little I mean a whole lot).

It IS integrated into the new generation on star unit. These units are for sale to dealers for FIRE/Theft/Collision ONLY and yes must be programmed ect. i'm retrofitting it on my CTS right now, is it do-able? Yes.. will it be something 99.9% of the people out there can do? No unfortunately :(
