Anybody know if the bolts that hold the drive shaft to the dif are torque-to-yield?
Anybody know the torque spec for these bolts?

If they are not Ed they always say replace in the service manuals because they have a factory Loc-tite on them.

The ones that go to the diff flange are not, torque them to 85 lb/ft the ones on the rubber insulator that go on the transmission side DO say to replace the torque prevailing nuts but the bolts are ok (Torque to 72 lb/ft.)

Ok. If i get this, the 3 that install from the front and connect to driveshaft to the rubber piece are OK, just torque to 85 lb/ft. The bolts with nuts that mount the rubber piece to the dif flange are 72 lb/ft but new nuts should be used. Do i have it correct?

Thanks.
Ed

Where can these be had?

The dealership. They come in a kit, 3 bolts 3nuts. MSRP is $68!!!

My cost was 48 and change. :(

I'll be using lock nuts...

I need a secondary option on these nuts asap if anyone has one. Car goes in tomorrow for converter and I've forgotten to deal with this. GM Nuts apparently not available locally.

Can you just pick up some grade 8, well metric so grade 10.9 or whatever bolts from Ace Hardware and use those? Would be a solution until you can get the right stuff.

They could probably reuse the old bolts/nuts without a problem. Some people are real picky about that stuff. Chances are if you were doing it yourself you wouldn't have known any better and reused it. I doubt it's that big of an issue really. Not the right way, but that doesn't mean it won't be fine.

It's looking like one of these options will be the answer. Can't source the GM bolts quickly enough.
