Got passed on the highway from one of these and it got me thinking. Stock for stock, G8 GT vs SRT10 Quad Cab, who would take the win? From what I've read, they're pretty evenly matched with a slight edge to the Ram. Anybody race one?

last quad cab SRT i saw was a 2005. the automatic 4 speed. quad cab version is pretty hefty, around 5600lbs and maybe some extra. the stock quarter mile should be around 14.1. 0-60 at about 5.6 secs if you can get traction. not bad for 5600+ lbs. But I haven't ran across one in the g8 to find out...

They're heavy, plus, not much weight proportionally over their rear tires. They'd be spinning while you'd be hooking, is my guess. 50/50 has it's advantages.

Chrysler makes a conventional 4 speed auto that can handle the power of the viper V10??? Is it the same out of the HD trucks??? Wouldn't that be like 6 or 7 speed?
I bet modded guys are blowing those things up in short order

Here is my buddy's. He just got it in the Summer. I drove it. It's fast but not as fast as a stock G8 GT. The Regular Cab would be closer to the stock G8 GT. The Quad Cab is too darn heavy. Thing is massive. The V10 looks small under the hood. I think a small family could live under the hood. LOL.

They do make lots of mods for it though... :driving:

Some Facts...

"The SRT-10 featured an 8.3 Liter Viper V10.[1] This engine produced 510 bhp (380 kW; 517 PS) at 5,600 rpm and 525 lb·ft (712 N·m) of torque at 4,200 rpm. The regular cab, with a total curb weight of 5,130 lb (2,330 kg), reached a top speed of 153 mph (246 km/h), and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.9 seconds,[2] whereas the Quad Cab, weighing 5,618 lb (2,548 kg), did 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and reached a top speed of 147 mph (237 km/h).[3] The regular cab could complete the 1⁄4 mi (400 m) in 13.6 seconds at 105 mph (169 km/h),[4] the Quad Cab in 14.2 seconds at 104 mph (167 km/h).[5] The engine produced one horsepower for every 10.3 lbs of vehicle weight in the regular cab. The regular cab generated .86 g of grip on a 300 ft (91 m) skidpad,[4] while the Quad Cab generated .83 g.[5] The regular cab was rated by the EPA at 9 mpg city/15 highway,[4] while the Quad Cab was rated at 9 city/12 highway.[5]

Drivetrain - The V10 Viper engine delivered 90 percent of its torque from 1500 to 5600 rpm. The cast aluminum cylinder block had cast-iron liners and cross-bolted main caps. The bore and stroke had been increased over previous Viper models. Compression ratio, firing order, rod length, block height and block length were unchanged from the second-generation Viper engine. The regular cab featured a Tremec T-56 transmission, while the Quad Cab utilized a 48RE four-speed automatic transmission modified from the Ram Heavy Duty transmission. Both regular cab and Quad Cab used a Dana 60 rear axle.

I figured it was a version of the HD tranny, I think they have since switched over to 6+ speeds?

Can't get over how heavy the thing is, for all that weight may as well have 4wd as an option no?

What does it get for gas mileage - like 8 city 12 hwy lol~

An idiot with horsepower is still an idiot. At least he won't be on the roads terrorizing traffic in that truck.

Back to the original quesiton: Pound for pound, it's a driver's race in the regular cab. The supercab: G8 wins.

Actually it would get its a$$ handed to it day in and day out and twice on Sunday - stock 1/4 mile is 14.2 @ 99 - at least a 1/2 second and 5-6 mph off a G8 GT

Also, the TOP speed is 147mph, not b/c of an electronic governor, but due to drag, so you'd need a pretty long straight stretch of road to get her going that fast too.

Still sure you owned one....

I am sure that there are numerous post on different forums that indicate a srt10 viper truck ran a 14 second 1/4 mile at 99mph ... When i owned mine there were alot of guy's that could not get a better 60' than 2.1 to 2.2 completely stock with stock tires... with this type of 60' the Viper trucks would run consistantly around the 13.10-13.30 with a trap speed between 104-107 mph.... I have owned both and in all honesty a completely stock G8 GT and a viper truck completely stock with both drivers knowing how to get the best blaunch out of both , the viper truck would win most of the time by not much .... On the road if you ever get next to one on the hwy and you both kick it down simultaneously ...and the guy driving the VT knows how and when to shift ..the VT will slightly pull you to about 100-110 then the G8 GT would start to pull the VT. The ideal race would be the GXP ...that would be a very close race and it would come down to the driver .... I would not be afraid to race a stock VT ....I would put my money on a G8 GT from a DIGG .... Most cannot launch a VT at all . If you run a VT from a 30-40 mph roll to 100 my money would be on the VT....

Just to be clear, I assume you are referring to the regular cab SRT-10 VT in your comparison??? Or are you saying guys could get a stock 5600# (+ driver) quad cab VT down into the 13.1s-13.3s??

srry to burst your bubble but some of those srt10 have trapped 105mph stock. at low 13's. stop going off magazines and get to the track more. the quad cab would be in favor of the g8 if the truck doesnt get any grip. they are pushing lots of weight but they also make way more TQ than we do.

Speedracer you are making me show my age lol .... I was referring to the quad cab in part of my statements and the single cab in other parts of my statements and i will clear up which is which ...............The 1/4 mile times of 13.10-13.30 are with the quad cab......The single cab 6 speed manual were good for 12:70's to 12:90's , these #'s were completely stock #'s ...
