"all crap!" Huh! Why don't you tell us how you really feel? And BTW, I guess my ears are "all crap" too. Sounds fine to me. So, now we've both expressed an opinion. Ain't America great?

"Its not how fast it goes or how shiny it looks, its how you drive it!!!!!"

Hey! Watch out for that tree!........ Aw, meh.

Got 8?

The rear door speakers have a built in tweeter which countas as "2"

Ok, lets fo over this one more time:

1" tweeters in the dash top, in the corners.
Dash top center speaker: 6.5
Front doors: 6.5
Rear doors: 6.5 coaxial (woofer + tweeter)
Rear deck: 8" subs running off the sub amp in the trunk

I don't think they are crap at all. Over all, they sound pretty good. If you pump hip hop through them, yea, they are not going to sound good because you will over drive them. I have never had my volume above 25. It's just too damn loud!

I don't want crap in my car! :whine:

What brand are they?

Don't tell it's the same brand as the head unit?

Go listen to a decent after market system, you will find that almost every stock system is not good in terms of sound quality. Every factory head unit does not produce a full frequency range, or a clean one for that matter, but if you like your stock system, thats all that matters.

I agree, its definetly not aftermarket. Blaaaapunkkk used to be good stuff and now its just middle of the road. I'm not completely happy with mine and if you've had really awsome aftermarket stuff like I have, its hard to compare the two side by side and I don't. My truck will walk the dog on my g8. However, its all Memphis audio, pioneer and bazooka nos sub and the g8 isn't supposed to compete with it on a sound level. I must admit my daughters g6 monsoon has better sound. I plan on changing my head unit to a Pioneer with dvd, then I'll tackle the rest. I think gm would have better served their customer with monsoon or at least a better head unit. I'm not calling it crap, just that gm could have done better if they would have had xm or it least xm ready. Still love my car and the way it looks and performs.

geez.wow.what a baby penguin.
dont take it so hard.
After anyone has a great sounding aftermarket stereo,a stock one IS crap.
the cones are made of PAPER.paper is for doing homework on,not making music.
look at it this way,if the g8 had 50 dollar passenger tires instead of 275 dollar summers would you fight an argument that they are NOT CRAP?

any cheap aftermarket replacement will sound better.Anyone with a set of ears can tell the difference.thats why you cant buy this low of a quality speaker in a store, cause they would be ashamed to ruin their reputation.they are for stock car sytems only, not retail sale
get over it and swap em out for something real.200 bucks will make a gigantic difference-ASK ANYONE WHO ALREADY DONE THIS

if you are truly happy with your current set up,good for you...you dont need to wish people crashing into trees over it.WOW.

The G8 is better than the stock 96 Monte butt the stock 97 GTP blew this one away. It had better highs, more defined bass, and just cranked. It all blew and when I went aftermarket, WOW was the instant reaction.

To me, the stock G8 sounded pretty good on some stuff and just plain *****in horrible on others. It wasn't related to any one genre, some metal was good, some crap, some rock was good, some crap... Popped in Kappa's in all doors and now it is starting to sound good. Speakers are breaking in and thumping more defined bass by the day. Hi's and mids are clear and precise. When I replace the humming (it doesn't thump bass, it hums bass) subs, then I will then go WOW!

But last I checked, this is America and currently loud music is not being blamed for global warming (yet), so do what ever makes your thing hard before the lefties take your gas and cars away.:pir_flag:

How much did you pay for the Kappa's? I guess if I changed anything about my stock unit would be to change the speakers.
Sounds like a good speaker debate thread.

Its a draw.

LOL!

Oh…Did I mention that I used to be an audiophile?

I spent a small fortune on that stuff! The absolute best speaker made ever, is Klipsh Horn, very efficient. Unfortunately they don’t offer it for auto…I’m still waiting though, and I still have them for home theater, simply awesome!

On my last vehicle mod I went with Sony HU (yeah, it was crap!) JBL all the way, AMP and bazooka sub. Great sounding set up though.

I’m thinking Polk for speakers on doors as they are very good also.

But that’s going to wait till gas comes down so I can start driving more, in the mean time; it’s time to hit the pool!

Maybe by then Klipsh will finally come out with car speakers.

It’s all good!

Cheers!

I've used a lot of alpine speakers, they are ok but not the quality of memphis. I've got about 1000 watts in my truck. It can be brutal if your not careful. I did 130 dbs last year at a truck show in springfield, mo. The guy couldn't believe it would put out that kinda sound, so he rechecked it and did 132. Proved him wrong, thats pretty good for an 8" bazooka nos bottle mounted under my custom console.
