I've wanted to get a PC for quite some time, but now you're killing me with this Flex thing. One question though, unless I'm blind why no waxing pad with the Flex?

Good question. Was up till 2AM researching the PC 7424XP and the Flex. The PC is cheaper but the Flex does look very nice though.

I have never used a polisher like these. Always been pure elbow grease. But I think I'm going to do it right this Spring and get something like this and do the 2 or 3 step process.

I'll subscribe to see what others say since I'm learning on this topic too.

I'm sure Adam's will give you great help with this...

I've used a Waxmaster for several years. Just a buffer with with terry cloth bonnets. Time to step up!

Awesome vidz. I think that just sealed it for the PC for me.

Huh? No waxing with the Flex? Who said that? I just threw a coat of sealant on my G8 today with my 3401. Works just fine applying wax / sealant.

I've said it repeatedly on here, save yourself some time, spend a few extra bucks and get the Flex. I'm semi-officially retired from detailing to a certain extent nowadays, but I started out using a PC. Did a few cars and said to myself, "Self, there has to be a better dang way to polishing cars." I wasn't ready to go to a full rotary polisher yet, and that was about the time the 3401 hit the market in the U.S. I was probably one of the first handful of folks in the U.S. to get my hands on one. I remember calling Flex NA to track one down. Enough down memory lane though...

Seriously, IMO there is a world of difference between the PC and Flex in terms of time spent and quality of finish. I know some on here will disagree with me on quality of finish, but no one can argue the time savings associated with the 3401. You're not going to burn your paint, just keep that baby moving nice, slow and controlled and you'll be fine. Do a 2' x 2' section at a time. Start using a light to medium cut pad with a light cut polish intiially and you'll be fine. After spreading product, I crank it up to 5.5 - 6 and do a nice slow left / right followed by a up / down and go from there depending upon how the polish is breaking down. Once it flashes, becomes clear and almost invisible, stop and wipe off any remaining polish residue. Right before flashing, I do gear down and do a final pass on about speed 4. If anyone needs help getting started with the 3401, PM me and we can talk. Make the investment, save yourself some time, and get a better finish. I will put this disclaimer out there. If you are only going to polish 1 - 2 times a year and have time on your hands, then maybe the PC is the better choice.

Thanks for the info. The only reason I asked about wax is that the PC has a specific pad on Adam's site, but the Flex doesn't? I would go over the car 1-2 times per year, but I've also got a truck and a Traverse, and since I've developed some detailing skills apparently over the years I get the privelage of doing some family members cars as well. So I'd get pretty good use of it for an average joe.

Adam's has a 6.75" foam gray wax pad listed on their site under the PC, which should work just the same with the Flex. Not sure why they don't have one listed. As you can see here, it creates some confusion in the marketplace.

I use Detailer's Domain Uber black sealant wax pads. BTW, they are also an authorized reseller of Adam's for several years now, and I've purchased boatloads of Adam's products from them, so call off the dogs (mods). They have 5.5" & 6.5" sealant pads. I have a few of each and you really only need one to do a car. The one from Adam's would probably work just as well.

With our products specifically (machine superwax) we found that the application using the flex was less than ideal in testing... it just didn't seem to go on or come off as well working with the flex and we didn't want to set customers up to fail.

Its not that you can't grab a gray PC pad, drop the speeds on the flex and apply machine superwax with it, we just found it was less than ideal.

Also keeps the overall price of the flex kits down as if you're dropping that much to polish the consensus among our customers was they'd drop the $70 for Americana... get the best wax to finish up after you work with the best polisher.

never used a Flex but I've had my Porter Cable setup for several years and very happy with it. I do my car about twice a year and my wife's once lol. Once you know what you're doing it works well
