@LOWCAL: Protip: In your signature text editor area, include this <SIGPIC></SIGPIC> but replace the < and > with [ and ] (I can't do this right here otherwise it will auto-convert from my explanation to substituting MY signature pic in for you in this message!!) and your picture will magically appear. Don't forget to also upload it from the "browse" button on that same configuration page.

hey mate,

your g8 is looking as hot as ever!

Are the wheels on yours def 9.5" all round? The fronts just don't look like they have the same concave. Is that right or is it just the pics?

I am trying to buy some now through element wheels - but they are trying to tell me they won't fit (even though; 1- i know they will, 2- they fit your g8).

You said you purchased yours direct through MRR.. you do have a link at all? i've been looking but not found much.

Also, what did you do with those LEDs around the Foglights there? they look awesome!

nope me and anothermember (gman) have the same size wheels.. they look the more concave in the back because of the tire sidewalls.. on the front i have 245/40 which are slightly stretched and on the back i have 275/35... but they definatly fit without issues and im lowered on H&R Springs.

and the leds are just random LED strips

Cats ain't got nothing to do with it,running no cats is less restriction which means more power to the wheels. The cats just break down the unburnt fuel and all that toxic crap.Going from a big pipe into a little pipe will slow you down, back pressure the air will start swirling around trying to fight its way into a smaller diameter pipe.In my case, the stock header/cat is smaller than my GT midpipe so im going smaller into bigger which shouldn't make a difference. And did you say you welded them on? OMG! So your whole exhaust system is all welded together now into one piece? That's crazy.

Sounds tune related to me. High flow cats won't make it faster unless your tune is too far off.

+1

I didn't realize that the pacesetters had 3" piping. If you going to use a 3" header than you need to use 3" piping for the rest of the exhaust system. I still think 3" is too big for this motor without FI.

From looking at the collector on those headers it looks like it tapers out from 2.5" to 3". You might be able to just put a 2.5" pipe tight up inside the collector and weld a sleve to seal it around the 3" exit.

Definitely sounds like the tune. I've read on several occasions of people adding intakes or exhaust components and complaining about how it slowed down until they had the tune addressed.

I don't know about these engines but I do know that some engines run better with a little back pressure (HFC's and Mufflers instead of wide ass open with no cats or mufflers, etc.) So I'm not saying the lack of cats isn't affecting it, it just sounds more tune related.

Alot of mechanics will just say anything if they don't know the answer because they figure they should have an answer for everything, trust me i've been in this trade all my life and met alot of guys that just talk :bs:.And the guys are right, you have to tune it with long tubes.

yeah it was around there. Your not gonna get any crazy horse power out of a N/A engine, upto 30 at most if your lucky. most high hp gains are with boosted cars. plus our cars are pretty tightly tuned from the factory.

I'm not gonna lie eaither but since i did my intake, and exhaust mods, i like Hazer seem like out cars are slower then stock. Once i get this tune if i choose not to do a motor swap to DI i'm thinking about tackling i'm hoping i'll get better gains.

also these numbers are shown on a bone stock Base G8. no one with a modded one has gotten this tune so who knows what can come out of it

it just feels slower, and well the drag strip opened in june and i did a few passes hoping to better my time then lastyear. well i didn't and was plenty mad lol. lastyear i went in sept and bone stock exept i was running my staggered 20's i ran 15.4 @ 90mph. in june i couldn't come anywhere close 15.8, 16's, but there was carzy 60kmh side winds that i'm sure affected my times

i hope to head back in the fall with better air quality and hopefully less winds

Well.............
Got on a dyno today
230rwhp, with Headers, Intake, MACE Spacers, X-Pipe, mid muffler, and straight axle backs.
just need a tuning software compatible with our cars so i can tune the car, shop owners were saying its usually a 20-30whp increase with a tune on N/A V6s with same parts... my car is running lean since i have no cats, which also tells me i have enough back pressure!!
found a shop willing to work on the car but are asking $800 for a base tune..

NICEEEEEEEEEEEE MANNNNNNNNNNN.

i guess i'd be looking around the same gains if i go ahead with this, we pretty much have the same mods except for your intake spacer and my tbs.

still not goin to consider the trifect tune? for the price difference?

hazer396
08-15-2011, 04:27 AM
video should be up shortly...

and as for the trifecta tune goes, i see no gains in it. they have only tuned a stock V6 they dont have a tune for a V6 with headers exhaust and intake... plus the main concern is that the car is running lean so that needs to be fixed from a real tuning software!

Trifecta is tuning FI builds on V6 Camaros right now. It is a real tune, just mail order. Install the base tune, pull logs, e-mail, rinse and repeat. Plus there is no other tuner that has broken the ECM code to get in there yet. Rumor has it that HPT is working on something but it isn't out yet.

Not one person that I've heard of has been dissapointed with the results or the customer service.

I'm just not sure where you are getting a negative impression from. If you have heard something I haven't please share.

i just dont believe in mail-in tunes..
yes you get gains blah blah
but dyno tuning is the old fashioned way to go!
talked to the shop again, Fluid Motorunion (youtube them), here it is

I just heard back from the tuning company this weekend. They can definitely tune for your mods.

The cost of the tune will be $599, and that includes all dyno time.

After the tune is applied, there's a datalogging process that we'll do with a quick on-the-road drive of your G8. From there, we'll send that data back to the tuners, who will refine the file a bit more, to make sure you're getting the most for your money.

Let me know what's good for you, and we'll go from there!

I get it. It's good to have someone local to yell at. I'd be Interested in knowing what company they are using. Might be a good option for more of us.

Good luck with the tune!

Don't know who they are using but Vince does the same type of remote tuning while you are on a dyno. Possible its him.

Car looks and sounds great mang! 230 rwhp... What do the v6's push stock? As for feeling slower, long tubes can lower the low rpm torque.

:hail: sounds amazing... OK details about the headers what make and was the mock up on the fab hard or pretty straight forward???

I actually thought it would be LOUDER.He installed the pace setter long tube headers (black),and no cats. The collector is 2.5" going into his stock 2.25" pipe, which may slow him up.I would like more info on the install as well like what rich was saying.Pictures of the long tubes underneath the car please:).I just wanna know how far back the collector sits, like how close is it to the trans member. Also how did you make out with the O2 sensors? Thanks for posting man, love the tips!:)

hazer396
08-21-2011, 01:17 AM
ok well the headers end like 1" after where the flange of the mid-pipe starts, so if you get longtubes, you will have to cut the old exhaust... the install is a pain in the ass, thats for sure, but once you get started you will know exactly what to do... i do recommend wrapping the headers because they make alot of heat.. and for the o2 sensors, still living with a CEL until tune

Thanks Haze.I guess with the camaro long tubes being alot longer then the G8 you have no room for high flows....?.

You'll have room, they'll just hang under the car. Expensive parts to have hanging that low.
