When I bought the car I didn"t realize the battery is in the trunk.
That's great for when you go to the track. More weight off the front tires.

RIght....But how many cars has GM sold with the battery in the trunk ???
I've owned a 70 396 SS Chevelle, a 79, 81, and 83 Z28, a 86 Monte Carlo SS [put a 350 in that car], a 2000 Grand Prix GTP, and a 2006 GTO but none of those cars had the battery in the trunk from the factory.

To balance out the driver on the right. One of the minor details that did not get properly Americanized.

There are jump points under the hood of the car. DO NOT jump your car by directly connecting to the battery in the trunk.

Read the manual. There are jumper posts under the hood. Bad idea to jump direct to battery. Hopefully, you will never need a jump start. :p

Actually the ideal location IMO. My 2000 SSEi had the battery under the rear seat and it lasted way longer than usual as no heat, dirt, less vibration. Better in the trunk tho', not in the passenger compartment.

My 2003 Saturn Ion had the battery in the trunk. And no, I doubt they designed it that way for drag racing purposes :-)

Incredible as it may read, the salesman actually told us all about it, and the benefit on weight distribution.

Cheers!

To balance out the driver on the right. One of the minor details that did not get properly Americanized.

A car on launch twists on to the right rear wheel, it is placed on the left for optimum balance.

The C6 ZO6 has the battery in the rear. In this case it not only helps with weight dist., but the oil resevoir for the dry sump system is located in the normal underhood battery location.:)

And a car that handles well puts the battery on the right rear so when the driver gets in the drivers seat, the car is balanced left to right also. Well, in America at least.
