Well.. I have had the opportunity to drive a 2010 Charger, 2010 Chrysler 300 and my G8 all in the matter of a 3 day period. We got a 300 for a rental while the mini van was being repaired after a deer hit it, I got a Charger for a rental when I went out of town and I had access to my G8 whenever. Note the Charger and the 300 had the 3.5 liter V-6.

Lets start off by saying I dont have any doubts I bought the right car. I never did before but this just confirmed it. The Charger and 300 are nice cars. They have a nice smooth drive, The tranny shifts fine and they handle pot holes nicely. They are both comfortable cars but in no category do they even compare to our G8's. The suspension on the Mopar's are boat like. They lean terribly bad and dont hold any g's in tight cornering. Combine that with the 215 tires they have and its kind frightening in any cornering situation. With the boat like suspension taking it over 80-90 MPH is like flipping a coin for your life. No Thanks. I have yet to put myself in situation where I feel uncomfortable in a corner or at high speeds in my G8. Its predictable and handles as well as any sport subcompact car I have driven.

When actually comparing timed performances both Mopar;s lack any real quickness. The 4 speed auto hurts them but even at max HP its so non eventful. Not that out V-6s sound great but those cars sound like it has a 4 bangers in them under full throttle and are just adequate at best. When comparing 0-60 and 1/4 miles I only have a comparison with the 300. The 300 did 0-60 in 7.89 seconds to my 6.8 in my G8 and 16.00 in the quarter to my 14.9. I used the Dynolicious App on my iPhone to compare so regardless of how accurate the numbers are it is a good comparison and realitive. In closing I think I'd rather drive a FWD car than a V-6 Charger or 300 (Maybe the Hemi versions). The 2011's are a different beast though.

Yes, the 2011's are an entirely different animal. Motorweek tested a new Charger (V6 only) and they said it handles and rides much differently than the previous gen. The new Pentastar motor and 5-speed auto box are much better than the old powertrain.

The 5 speed auto is obsolete. The 8 speed will be where it's at.

8speed? Just sounds like more to go wrong. Chrysler trannys haven't historically been great.

Those 3.5 litres are junk. You'll get a ton of plenum noise over time.
