My wife just brought me the November Car and Driver Magazine .. That was the title ... "save Pontiac" pretty strong words, but welcome words for sure. They state a February release date and the V-8 should run $32,000. Is this really a GM car they call a "4 door Corvette??"

I'll have to check it out.

Scan the article if you can please.

Time to pick up the C/D.

32 sounds good, although I want the 19's so I think by the time all is said and done, you would be north of 35.

Motor Trend has a piece about the G8 too. The author tagged along with a bunch of development engineers on a calibration ride in the south west. They were driving Middle east Chevy badged mules. Not really much detail, although they do have a picture of the car next to a Charger that was along for comparision, which gives you a sense of the car's size.

Do you remember what month that was? I don't see it in this months MT, but I don't remember seeing the G8 with the charger. I'd like to see that.

Wasn't the M6 GTO given a better EPA avg than the A4? If so, how can they say the G8 GT M6 (say that six times fast, lol) will be more of a gas hog? Also, the G8 is not exactly an all-new car. The Commodore has been out for awhile now along with the Arab Chevy counterparts. I love how Car and Driver can talkm out of their ass and get away with it so much.

November 2007, page 100.

The MT article also kind of took at shot at GM for saying the G8 benchmarks cars like the E-Class or 5-Series, yet on the engineering drive, the comparison cars are the Charger and a Grand Prix. The author chides GM for once again them for aiming high and shooting low.

The one concern I have re: all these initial drives (including the one for the Malibu in the same MT) is that they all suggest the interior is good enough, but not great. Based on the pics of the Malibu interior, its not as good as the Camry or Altima and not even close to the new Accord. The G8 is supposed to be even a step higher. If GM wants to sell a bunch of these cars, they again actually need to shoot where they are aiming.

Don't forget, the G8 will be getting a six speed auto. Not a 4 speed.

The manual G8 won't get AFM either.

November... that would explain it. I flipped through the most recent issue I had and there was nothing. I just ran out to the mail box and there it was, the November issue. Flipping to page 100 right now. Thanks.

28 MPG on regular. That isn't bad for a car that big and capable of 14 second 1/4 miles.

Actual mileage may vary - no one running their G8 the quarter mile in 14 seconds (and WHO wouldn't!!!) is going to get 28 mpg.
