: a few detailing questions
StBlGT 04-12-2011, 08:11 PM i just picked up quite a bit of products from you guys and i watched the instructional dvd you sent with the one order. after watching, i have 3 questions for you...hope you can help.
1. i ordered the kit with the swirl & haze remover/revive polish/buttery wax & applicators. question is, i noticed you used the swirl & haze on the orange side of the dual applicator (oval-type pad, orange on one side, blue on the other), so i'm assuming it's color coaded and the revive polish is used on the opposite side (blue side)? i seen you didn't use the other side in the video, just a seperate blue hex pad. would it be the same thing?
2. after you used the revive polish, you followed it up with buttery wax. on your website it says it's recommended to use the yellow hex applicator pad that comes with the kit. but in the video you said to use the softer red hex pad. do i need to purchase the red hex pad, or is the yellow hex pad ok to use to apply the buttery wax?
3. when claying the car, you spray the detail spray and wipe with the clay. my question is: after wiping down car with the clay, should you follow that up with a microfiber cloth to dry it completely or just leave the residue on the car for when you start the wax process?
thanks alot, i really appreciate it. want to do it right and just got confused a little while watching your video. hope you can help...the products look amazing, can't wait to get out and try them!
StBlGT 04-16-2011, 09:32 AM bump, anyone?
courtroom19 04-16-2011, 11:47 PM I'll give it a shot, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
1. Yes, just use the flip side blue color of the pad for the revive.
2. Yes, just use the yellow hex pad
3. You don't need to dry the car after claying before polishing. BUT, If you were going straight from claying to waxing for some reason, then you should clean & dry the remnants of the clay off first.
StBlGT 04-17-2011, 07:00 AM cool, thanks. i appreciate it. just got a little confused while watching the video that was provided.
Dylan@Adams 04-20-2011, 06:39 PM Sorry, I was out of town at Camaro5Fest in Arizona and missed this. Looks like you got it squared away, but in case you need anymore clarification.

The foams are identical. In that video we were simply showing the 2 different types of pads that are available - flip pad (2 sided) and the hex individual pads.
2. after you used the revive polish, you followed it up with buttery wax. on your website it says it's recommended to use the yellow hex applicator pad that comes with the kit. but in the video you said to use the softer red hex pad. do i need to purchase the red hex pad, or is the yellow hex pad ok to use to apply the buttery wax?
Since the video was filmed we got our hands on a soft yellow foam. At the time of the filming our foam supplier could not make a waxing foam that was yellow AND soft enough for our liking. We now have the foam so use the yellow hex with your buttery wax.

After claying you can go directly over the residue into the polishing process. I would however recommend that if there was a signifigant amount of contamination removed by the clay (you noticed a lot of stuff being pulled into the clay) that you do another wash, then dry, then polish as a precaution.

Again, really sorry I missed this. We're a small operation (9 employees strong) and when I go out of town a lot of the stuff on the forums gets missed. In the future if you don't have an answer to your question right away feel free to email me directly and I'll respond as soon as I have a moment:
