: What's your current ride?
dv/dt 02-06-2007, 03:20 PM Just found this board and I have nothing really relevant to post yet.
(I have no idea what this is for ---> :bunny:, but I like it :D)
So what does everyone drive now?

nixapatfan 02-06-2007, 03:28 PM And yes you used the bunny correctly. It's basically used for when you have no idea, or nothing to say.

Mine are in the sig - G6 GTP, Mustang GT and the Corvette :)... Mustang and G6 will be long gone to make way for the G8.

hey, I'm probably the minority here too... 2004 SRT-4.
LS1=SEG 02-06-2007, 06:06 PM Thanks.
Ya, I was considering one of those before I got my first Sierra, but I thought, "V8 or Turbo 4?" I had to go with the 8, as my dad is a huge car nut, and would have disowned me. He's had an '85 T/A with a modded N/A crate motor with about 425 hp(just breaking into the 13's. The guy we had working on it didn't have it running right). Next was a '92 Vette with some bolt-ons(intake, exhaust, TC, 4.10 gears) that was amazing off the line. It was never run down the 1/4 mile though. Now, it's an '05 'Vette with just an intake and exhaust. We just got a Diablo Sport, but the ECM doesn't have the latest software, so that'll have to wait until Thursday afternoon.

6 Speed Man, 20" HSVi Rims, HSVi Steering Wheel, Pedders Springs and
track stripes. Dyno'd stock as a rock at 226 Rear Wheel KW. Also ran a 13.8

LS1=SEG 02-06-2007, 07:02 PM How's the handling/ride quality on the SS?
NVESS 02-06-2007, 07:05 PM Well to be honest, I thought lowered with 20" rims it would be horrible, but it is seriously a really great handling car. I have owned and driven most previous models and you really can tell this is a complete re-design in chasis,
suspension and ride quality... two thumbs up from me.
LS1=SEG 02-06-2007, 07:09 PM Sounds great. Did you lower it, or is it stock? I can't wait to test drive the G8. I want to be at the dealership when that first one rolls off the truck.

Most definitely. I'm excited about the GT, the V8 and the feeling of manhood rushing from my balls when I first step on the pedal. ;)
Really though, I've been in the market for a new car for about 2 years. I'm a very picky shopper (outside of cars being as I've owned mine for 8 years). The closest I came to 'settling' on a car was an A4, but I had this urge for something with more power, more V8ish.
I saw, heard about the G8 and fell in love.

Those looking at the G8's tail lights are the same as the VE SS/SS-V. So you will have them. Dont know about the wheels though you would probably find the same bar the Holden lion of course at decent Wheel dealers.

Selling the Jackeroo at the years end to purchase a VE Calais V 6ltr. Most likely be the updated series 2 VE as I heard that update comes around the time the Ute comes out. DOD I hear will be standard on SS-V and Calais-V, not sure if throughout remainder of V8 range though as yet. Cheers big ears John

Oh LORD….don’t start hating on the RX family line now….lol. They hit 13.1's with a Turbo kit for the RX8 last time I checked. Not comparing it to the RX-7, but that aint too shabby either considering it starts off at 14.5 in the 1/4.
Heck, they get about 300whp with only 5psi when the RX8 starts off at 175-190whp from the factory.

Naaa, I'm just messing wit cha buddy...
I agree, I think the rotary design is amazing and wish more companies were willing to adopt it. Maybe it would be more accepted then.
You and me both, it's so frustrating!!!! Gosh, I bet you know what they do with 3-rotor engines yet Mazda has never built a 3-rotor (well, for the US that is) nor does it seem that they care enough about the RX since the only thing they keep changing YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT on the RX8 is dang colors...lol.
The RX-7 is a GREAT sports car, just lovely to look at and handling...I mean, some exotics can't handle better than an RX-7. I wanted one BAD...but it was not meant to be.
At times...I think about getting a used RX7 (fixing it up), and keeping my RX8 but then again my lust for the GM V8 will probably get the better of me...in the G8, Camaro, or maybe the Impala while I don't think it will look better than the G8.

As for the RX8 - Ive heard nothing but bad things about that motor. Run em too hard, they pour coolant...don't run em hard enough and they carbon up and flood. I don't know personally...just what Ive heard through the grapevine.
bill12s 02-26-2007, 06:37 PM You GTO folks sure have a sweet car, it's funny...but I think the best part of it (other than it's engine) is the seats...lol.
Love my GTO. Funny, because I was seconds away from signing a deal on a RX-8. Loved the looks, handling, and amazing practicality with the back seat and hatch, etc. IT was blue with the aero package. Got a phone call from my local Pontiac guy and he had just gotten in a GTO. So I figured I'd go drive it, then come back and buy the RX-8. At first, liked the looks of the GTO, but wasn't head over heels for it like the RX-8. Hopped inside and was very pleased with the interior..... different styling of course, but felt it was on par with the RX-8. But then I drove it.... the first time I buried the pedal and rear broke loose.... and hearing that V-8 roar I knew I had just found my car. The way this baby pulled it was all over for the RX-8..... plus better gas mileage on the highway (according to the EPA).
Now, several years later I still love it like the day I got it. This is the reason I can't wait for the G-8.... heck.... a 4 door GTO is the way I see it.

MPower 03-25-2007, 12:43 PM Currently, I am driving a 2006 Mazda MX-5 (bought Sept 2005). Great little car but it has a couple of things that need fixing that would cost thousands to fix. You can find some pictures by clicking on the "2006 Mazda MX-5" in my sig. Should be interesting to compare a 2,450 pound car to a 4,000 pound sedan. :D

carsuperfreak 03-27-2007, 08:44 PM I've got an '06 G6 GTP right now - I got that instead of the Goat for insurance reasons (Michigan police and I, well, we know each other well)....
Went to the dealer yesterday though - they said theys have G8's by Christmas - right around the time my lease is up ::thumbsup::

I'llBeHoldenOn 06-04-2007, 01:14 PM Nice wagon mikmak!!! I'm kind of a wagon guy myself.
Couldn't afford a WRX STi and didn't want a WRX wagon, so I got something inbetween: Forester XT, 5-speed.
Wish the situation with the GTO's pricing/availability was a little more bearable back in 2004 when I was buying my Subaru, might have ended up with one of those beauties instead!!
mikmak 06-06-2007, 09:24 AM Thanks, if it had a stick and the 190 KW HFV6 I'd be happier, but its a great family hauler and an absolute champion for road trips...not bad for flying through the back of the sugar cane fields either ;)

Well, regardless, it certainly is a nice car and I wish they would have sold those Holden wagons here! But I guess GM is finally getting the message with the G8, so it's a start...
You post on the GM Inside forums too, right? I'm SCarFan over there...

Gee Eight 07-25-2007, 03:15 PM Nice ride Ray.
I'm looking at maybe buying a C6 as well. I'm sort of torn on what to buy (G8, CTS, Vette). I guess I need to see what my g/f buys in May and figure out what to get from there. If she buys some sort of functional vehicle I'm selling the Trans Am and buying a C6.
rayainsw 07-26-2007, 08:45 AM "I'm looking at maybe buying a C6 as well. I'm sort of torn on what to buy (G8, CTS, Vette)."
Interesting - the CTS has some interest for me as well.
The other possibility I am looking at is a BMW 335i - for European Delivery & a vacation with my Daughter next Summer....

335i's are so nice. I was at a carwash the other day and a lady had one. She let me check it out. VERY nice car. Problem is once you option it up, you're looking at the mid 40's. :(

True.
But so is a C6 ( minimum ) and the CTS when well equipped...
Though at least on the 335, one can save a bundle ( compared to retail delivery at a US Dealer ) - in fact much more than even BMW USA's web site states... [[ $2,700+ ]]
And the sub-$40K price [ speculation, clearly ] of a 'loaded' G8 GT is one reason I am interested. Also the "great steaming piles" of Torque from that 6.0L V8...

OzHolden 08-01-2007, 09:02 PM I grew up in Oz where my 1st car was an old Holden panel van. I also learned to love their muscle sedans, especially the 351 GT-HO Falcons.
My current daily driver is an Infiniti G35 (6M). I knew the GTOs were coming when I bought the G35, but I needed a 4-door for my growing family duties.
I also have a 5.0 GT Mustang, a '74 Pantera, and my wife's diesel Excursion.

Yes. I'll probably try selling it on my own first, but if that fails I will just trade it in.
