: Any way to delete hood scoops?

Anyone have any knowledge as to whether or not an option will exist to have a hood without the scoops?

They look great on the GTO, but out of place on the G8, IMHO.

I believe they are to be standard on both the base and GT. You may have had a chance to delete if the base came without them.

One of the post here says it looks better in person. I wasn't sold at first, but they are growing on me.

They are standard across the board. But just as scooped hoods were/are available aftermarket for GP and G6 that don't come with it there will surely be aftermarket hoods for teh G8 that are scoopless. Failing that any good body shop can delete them for you and fill in the openings, smoothing out the panel. It is tough to do on such a large flat surface to get right but can be done. The Holden hood meets the nose differently and would have to be modified to fit but cost of shipping for one hood would kill the project.

Eh, figures I guess. But like appletonrc said, they also might grow on me after seeing them up close and in person. Otherwise I'm sure there will be an aftermarket hood, or perhaps it might prompt me to source out a Commodore conversion... ;)

Right now the scoops and the wheels are the only two things I really don't like about the G8. Both are easily remedied, however!

I could do without the scoops too, I'd be interested in an aftermarket hood withou them.

Are the scoops functional, or cosmetic only?

Their function is to look like they do something. (they are closed off to the engine bay)

Commodore hood and bumper.

Agreed. Maybe we can get a bulk rate to North Carolina! :)

LOL! That's a great function... I'm sure if someone was determined enough they could figure out a way to make them functional.

I'm guessing that they are probably like the GTO's scoops. They just have rubber baffles that can be removed easily and allow air to enter......or exit depending on your "Ram Air" beliefs.

Just drill them, problem solved.

I recall when the 2006 GTO was released - a hood scoop delete option was available there as GM thought quite a few buyers would not want them. Wrong. Very few were ordered that way (I mean you count count them on both hands). Scoops it is.

That was the 05. And I'll bet it was the dealers who didn't bother ordering them that way.

I'd come to NC to pick up a G8 hood without scoops (I live in Atlanta).:patriot:
I'd rather not have them (more stealth that way).

I thought I saw somewhere that functional scoops was slated down the road ( plumbed into the air box)
