nevermind found my answer,

How about you post your findings so that others here will have a better idea. I am a G8 GT fella myself but have found myself curious as to what the V6'ers are able to pull out of these cars.

i wonder if a tuned v6, cai + exhaust can keep up with a v8 mustang

"V8 Mustang" is a pretty wide range of vehicles you are talking about.

96-98 Mustang GT run low 15 to high 14's in 1/4.
99-04 Mustang GT run middle 14's in 1/4 mile.
05+ Mustang GT runs high 13's in 1/4 mile.

If you can get your V6 into that range then you know things should be close.

I think that is faster or fast as my stock 84 Trans Am WS6 with 305HO 195hp, 240 lbs-ft tq. I think it weighed in about 3100-3200lbs. Technology has came along way.

Lowcal, thanks for posting.

Can you tell us your set up for the run? TC on or off. Sport mode or manual shift or normal? Did you hold the brake and rev up to a certian RPM?

Well this was about a month ago i ran it. I was running my 20's whick are a 285/30/20 and a 245/30/20.

I remeber it was my first run of the night too. I went past the burn out box ( wasn't sure if i could do a burnout, didn't want to embarrass myself). I put the car in sport mode, then hit the TC button, then i staged. i'm pretty sure i brake rev'd but don't remember how much.

Then i started messing around with things lol maual mode on tc off, reg mode tc on, things like that and my times got worse. Then i tried doin a burnout. most times it was a one wheel peel, but my last run of the night i did my burnout and got both smoking lol and was up against a Mazda RX8. I figured forsure i'd loose, but the tree went green and punched it. He took me off the line, but i came back and beat him by half a car length for my first white timeslip for the win hahahahahhaha

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear you tried different thing to best your time. Did you come to any final conclusions as to the best setup and launch type?

Congrats on the win as well. Always makes you feel good.

Well outta my 6 runs i did the no burnout seemed to be best for some reason.

It was a pretty cold night aswell so there were lots of traction issues for everybody. You'd think a burnout would help traction. Weird

well come next drag season i'll be out again. I just bought the Solo Axlebacks, Cold Air Intake, and a Throttle Body Spacer today so we'll see how my number improve over stock :)

I did most of what you did to cal, found out best was in regular mode. just braked and reved it up to tighten up the suspenson, did very smokey burnouts to heat up tires.

So how does one do a controlled burnout? I know if you have enough power you can just take traction control off and smash the gas, my cousin has done that in his GT. He left a bunch of rubber but the car moved quite a bit.

The burnouts I notice on track videos are sustained and they don't move the car forward that much.

not hard at all, before pulling into the burnout box water is sprayed down,i pullin and take off my sta- bil- trac button apply brake tighten up suspnion and slightly let off brake and they spin, put up LOT'S of tire smoke. i come from old school , hell totally fried off a set of tires on a Dodge with a 383 to the point of "popping".

Left foot on the brake and right foot on the gas, traction control turned OFF. You can sit there and smoke 'em all night.

If you still have some brake pressure applied doesn't that also burn through your brake pads too?

The 05 - 2010 stangs do NOT run 13s stock unless you have near perfect track conditions. I know, I run them all the time. Not trying to insult but I hate to see others deceived. A tuned GT (4.6) with a decent CAI and catback will run in the high / mid 13s. Again thats the 4.6, the new 5.0 is a differant animal but I have seen a few down the track and most are in the mid 13s stock not the 12.8 they claim, again ideal track conditions can effect these numbers a lot meaning a DA of less than 1k and well prep'd surface and traction not effecting launch. Just my .02

I believe it is safe to say our cars can run between 15.3 with optimal and 15.6 with not optimal. Our cars will fun pretty consistant when put under the same conditions if you were to run it several times. but I cannot believe how much humidity effects our runs. I have run 4 quarter mile run with my Dynolicious iPhone App. Below is my most recent and slowest run. its been raining here daily and is just nasty humid even though it was cool this morning. My fastest run was 15.32 @ 91 on a 45 degree morning in low humidity.
