I know why it's there.

But, does anyone else find the bright orange glow distracting at night? Any tasteful ideas to cover it up or tecno fixes?

Oh, its bright. Really bright. I finally caught up with the only guy in my county that owns a G8 at my local wal-mart. He had a '08 black GT. I didnt know him, so he raised his eyebrow when i wanted to sit in it.

Crunk it up, he took me for a spin round the lot. Everytime i looked up i saw it. He complains about it, but i think its charming!

kinda embarassing i no...:embarrassed:

It doesn't bother me at all. Then again, neither do the atari gauges. I barely even notice either one.

Way to distracting at night for me. Opened mine up and put some tint between led's and mirror. Mo better now!

Agreed, distracting at night, looks like you have headlights in the rear view mirror when there is no one there.

Me, I took the easy way out and used a thin line of black tape over everything except the "On / OFF" indicator as I want to make sure the airbag for the passenger is working.

This way I can easily remove it if needed.

Replace the mirror with an auto-dimming one. It dims the airbag light at night. Now it's not distracting at all unlike the blinding factory mirror was.

I just put a little strip of limo black tint over mine. I can still see the light if I need to but the glaring effect is gone.

I have trimmed a piece of black plastic electrical tape using a straight edge and an exacto blade, then put it right on top of the annoying lighted airbag message on the rearview mirror. If you cut it and put it on there straight, its the perfect cheap solution.

I wish GM would have added an auto dimming mirror as an option so you fellas wouldnt have to go thru the trouble of disassembling the mirror and dimming the light yourself. It would have made a better addition to the '09 options rather than XM radio!

Two words:

Black tape.

Thanks to all the good suggestions. I picked up a piece of tint from my tint guy today and plan on removing the cover and installing it, as well as covering over the center stack guages.
