So, last week I finally had my track day at Lime Rock (in Lakeville, CT) that I had been waiting for for 6 months. It was awesome! I had replaced the brake fluid with Motul 600 and the front brake pads with Carbontech's and it held up great. No fade whatsoever after each 1 hour session.
My instructor was impressed since I basically did not have to shift out of 4th due to the massive torque available. He was like " This is a four door vette!"
I rode with him in it once around the track and he flung it pretty vigourously. The only thing is that it's kinda heavy so if you come in late to an apex you'll feel it.
Still, I plan on taking it out whenever I can (and have the $ for it!). Maybe when it comes time for me to retire it as a daily driver, I'll just keep it as a track car!
To any other GXP drivers who were thinking of taking it to the track, I encourage it. It was super fun and the car can keep with with big boys (although I got passed a lot by a guy in a Porsche 911 GT3).

Nice, what Carbotech pads did you use?

Awesome! I am doing a two day event at VIR in June. I can't wait!

What mods (if any) do you have.

Speaking of VIR, the owner of a sligtly modded GT had fun there.

His 2008 post pushed me over the edge to buy one, and I've been happy ever since. At 40K miles mine still serves as a trouble free daily driver, occasional road course warrior, dragster & virtual SUV ... with admirers at many stops.

+1 What pads? How did you like them? Track/Street or Track only?

Nice! I'll be doing my 2nd track day in the G8 next weekend. Recently did front pads, high temp fluid and SS lines. Can't wait.

I agree, it's the perfect all around supercar!

I'm interested in the model of the carbotech's too. I was planning on running Hawk DTC-60's or 70's at VIR.

Bump! I've been planning on running the DTC-60 to start, them move to the 70 on the front (at some point when I go to an R-Comp), but I hear good things about Carbotech's... just don't know which compounds to use.

They are Carbontech XP-10's. I've been running them on the street since and they're fine there too. They do squeal a bit though until they are heated up. I'm thinking of getting some anti-squeal compound for them.

Thanks for the info! Which tires are you using?
