: All-time cockiest Mustang owner at BBQ was lucky I dont drink and drive...
09mark 05-31-2011, 08:38 AM I live in a court and am good friends with my neighbors whom with we have a Memorial day BBQ every year. He is a "car guy" also, has a C5 vette. One of his buddies was over with an 07 Mustang GT convertible 5speed and he just thought his ***** didn't stink. I mentioned to him that I liked his car and I myself used to own an 07 GT coupe. He immediately started on how his mustang would smoke my G8, my neighbors vette, another vette someone had brought, etc, etc. He also informed me that his vert only weighs 2500 lbs and is waaay lighter than my car. News to me...
What made this even more comical was that he was easily in his 40s, big time union guy, voice like he had been smoking since birth, and just couldn't be told anything, because he already knew everything there is to know.
Just to add fuel to the fire, I pulled up the weight of his car on wiki with my phone showing 3600 lbs, of course he let me know his is a "special edition" and is lighter.
We didn't race obviously because we had been drinking, but I'm assuming my GT with intake/tune would have slaughtered his buttstang...
MDGeeTee 05-31-2011, 08:43 AM Your GT with 10 bags of cement in the trunk would have slaughtered his 07 convertible. That's the kind of guy you want to egg on and get him to put up some money before you show him his ass at the track.

haha, agreed
FSTG8 05-31-2011, 08:54 AM When you do race him... put $$$$ on the line.
Thechemist 05-31-2011, 09:04 AM I'm pretty sure a DUI, paying the $15,000 for it, potentially losing your job, potentially getting into a fatal accident was all worth beating that guy!!!!
Turbo301 05-31-2011, 12:04 PM There's one of those kinds of guys in every crowd: everything he does or has is better than everyone else/else's. That's the kind of guy that gives the car hobby a bad name.
Turbo301 05-31-2011, 12:05 PM BTW I bet you could make a Mustang convertible weight 2500 lbs: take out the engine, the brakes, the seats and top... man, he'd have the fastest Mustang out there!!! :P
jackalope 05-31-2011, 12:06 PM Those are the type of guy that you ask what he's running in a 1/4 mile and then promptly respond with "DAYMN! My wife's Honda Civic runs it in ------" with a time about a full second faster and watch him instantly go insain! LMAO!
thekalman 05-31-2011, 12:40 PM A friend of mine used to work in a CT autoshop in a collage AND university town... he used to get all types in there.
My favorite was when he had a customer talking up his car, and he asked the customer if he had the twin-dinucci installed.. to which the reply was a very indignant "of course!".

DAPG8GT 06-06-2011, 10:15 PM People like that are comical. I ran into one at a work get together. It was our secretaries boyfriend. He drove a 90's 454ss truck and was talkin like it was the fastest thing. So he was talkin to my coworker who has an EVO and was like your little POS wouldn't have a chance against my Detroit muscle blah blah. So I'm listening and jeff isn't really saying much so I ask the guy what he has done to it he replies don't worry about it you can't hang either. Not knowing I roll the 8 I say put up or shut up. He asks what I got I say just a Pontiac. He replys with you know what Pontiac stand for right and spurts off the poor old racist comment. So at that point I'm like this guy is a straight fart bag and start eggin him on. We are at a local gun club for the get together, work rented the hall and everybodys about to leave. I haven't drank a drop so as we are all leaving I wait for them to come out. A co worker and me are in my car and he and ericka are in his truck. It's lowered on rims with Exaust so I pull out next to him and do the old neutral rev and smile. We get out on the road not too many people left I keep lining up driving slow we have maybe a mile to the freeway of back roads. All the sudden he nails it , LOL and makes a lot of noise and goes nowhere not even tire spin and we are cruising at like 5MPH so I'm in first lay on it and spin into second and I'm like 2 cars on him by third I let off cause I though he did but he didn't he was just that slow so he does a fly by and I nail it again and reel him in as he has like 4 cars on me at this point and pass him. We get to the turn to get on the freeway to wait for them so we could laugh and he says it's not running right I think I have a fouled plug. Ant and I laugh and we part ways.
Most of the time when someone talks like they are the $hit they are just full of $hit. Erica said he was Hella pissed off and they argued all the way home so I apologized for making her man feel like a douche and everybody at work knows about it and smirk and laugh at him on the rare occasion that he picks her up in the parking lot.
Sorry for the rant and badly structured story. Just thought I would share my experience with a similar douche with a happy ending.

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that argument lol.
gtoasnt3 06-07-2011, 01:12 PM I had a guy in class (I teach adults) tell me how his new turbo Beetle (180bhp) can do 200 MPH... he had done it! Figured out with a calculation since his speedo doesn't go that high. I just agreed and said how awesome those cars are. Never told him what I have since my car is useless. What's funny is that my bolt on 99 Regal GS would eat his VW alive and it's not as quick as my G8.
Great story! Sorry for the hi-jack.

alphabravomike 07-23-2011, 10:13 AM Lol dude was talking out of his @$$, unless that car had a blower on it, lots of bolt ons or a set of 4.10s with light mods you would have easily had him. I had an '05 Mustang GT before the Shelby and while it was quick it wasn't fast.
I've raced a modded G8 GT and they're pretty quick cars.

Shredmo 07-29-2011, 12:00 PM When I got the G8, multiple co-workers mentioned they would buy a charger R/T or '05-'10 Mustang GT to dust me. No one gave the G8 any credit. A year later a co-worker bought a '10 Mustang GT auto and was telling everyone behind my back that he would roast my car. My response was always, let's run 'em and see.
thekalman 07-29-2011, 12:03 PM When I bought my G8, my coworkers told me "Cody, we've decided we all have to drive your car." lol.
