I am planning on buying a G8 GT around the end of August or the beginning of September. I would like the 08 price on an 09, but I will see. The problem I have is that almost all of the G8s here are ordered with the all season tires. I don't really want to go to the trouble of having a car tagged because here in Houston there are about 50 09's floating around already. I know that I can get a good deal on one rather than having it ordered. It seems the only way I can get summer tires is to tag one with only the Premium package, or buy the sport package. Does anyone notice a big difference in real world handling between the summer and all season tires? All of the dealers get the all season tires, and I don't know why. Is the sport package worth the $600?

We normally expect the all season tires to have a little more durability (if the summer tires get 20K, the all seasons will get around 30K), and give up a little grip if driven aggressively. I haven't heard of anyone wearing out tires yet to see if the numbers above will hold true or not .
Anyone had to replace wornout tires yet ?

I have the summer only tires and the car sticks like glue. Since winters are not nice here (Chicago) I bought a set of 18" wheels with A/S tires from a forum member. I have not put them on the car yet so can't give you a comparison at this time.

Absolutely, the wheels look better, and the steering wheel is nicer as well.

I agree - it's money well spent.

I have 10k on my portanza's. Plenty of tread left. More in the front though. :)

And the pedals! Can't forget the cool pedals...
Probably the best bang for buck options I have ever gotton on a car...
ok well maybe the hemi for $850 on the dodge ram was better, but other than that...

I have had a couple people that sat in the car and felt the steering wheel comment on how nice it was. A few of them were C6 owners and they mentioned how it was better than their steering wheel. I also could notice the difference when I has a rental G8 for a week that did not have the sport pack.
