Just a guess but on the part where you have to rev the engine, you need to do it fairly fast. With 4 sec I believe. I've heard of relearns failing due to doing it too slowly.

Sure its not P0315 which is the case learn, is the car up to temperature and your foot on the brake?

The code is P0315 I must be missing something ,I just tried again 3 times . I can feel the difference in power , It took about 10 miles , but the you can feel the change. Could some one pm the procedure, it's clear I'm missing something.

CASE Relearn
CASE Relearn is the Crank Angle Sensor Error relearn procedure. This is necessary if:
A P1336 Crankshaft Position Sensor Error DTC is present
A brand new PCM is installed
The engine crank sensor has been disassembled or replaced
The engine balancer and/or timing chain has been removed or replaced
This procedure is prompted with various menus on the DashHawk, but it is VERY IMPORTANT THAT THESE
PROCEDURES BE CAREFULLY UNDERSTOOD AND FOLLOWED CAREFULLY or the CASE relearn may not be
successful.
This procedure is as follows:

1. Be sure the engine coolant temperature is at LEAST 158 degrees F. The DashHawk will check and will not let
you perform the procedure if this condition is not met.
2. Set the Parking Brake and make sure the hood is closed.
3. Turn the engine off for at least 10 seconds.
4. PLACE YOUR FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE. This is VERY important, as the procedure will NOT
work if you do not have the brakes firmly engaged!
5. Go to the Diagnostics Menu->GM Commands->CASE Relearn menu on your DashHawk.
6. Start the vehicle and let the idle stabilize.
7. Follow the prompts on the DashHawk screen. When ready, hit ENTER to initiate the process.
8. When the DashHawk tells you to, steadily rev the engine up to approximately 4000 RPM until you feel the engine
stutter or “top out”.
9. IMMEDIATELY back off the throttle and let it return to idle.
10. Check the DTCs and see if P1336 is present. If not, then the relearn procedure is complete.

Once it tells you to start it, e-brake, foot on the brake, the next step is rev engine to 4000 in less then 4sec. If that isnt showing up they meesed up the update on DH. Engine temp 180 + seems to work everytime.

To upgrade the dashhawk go to dashhawk.com and download the new software for the PC and connect the dashhawk via USB to the PC and upgrade the firmware on the dashhawk itself (comes with the new PC software) After that make sure your foot is on the brake and ECT is over 180 degrees otherwise it will never prompt you.

I followed step by step with online support at dashhawh .com , the pc indicated the down load was successful and the latest version. Still it does every think in the procedure but advise to rev the engine , after e brake ,stepping on brake it than says it is sending case relearn, than says it did not complete ,hit enter to do again?

When you open dashhawk program on your PC, with dashhawk connected by USB there is a button in the program that say either update or upgrade. Did you click it and load the firmware file?

I had my G8 in the dealership and told them about the hesitation. They reprogrammed the powertrain module with SPS, and so far it seems to have fixed the hesitation. Not exactly sure what the reprogrammed entailed, but it might be something others may want to look into.

I will look into this when I finally make it to the dealership, when ever that is (if ever).

What is SPS?

What is SPS?

SPS stands for Service Programming System. There are some starter kits available to buy so that you can reprogram your powertrain on various GM vehicles. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you know how to work with this. But GM does release updates through the SPS that allows for adjustments for their cars....what exactly it changes, I don't know. But, if you mention reprogramming your powertrain module with SPS to your dealer, they should know what you are talking about and have access to do this.
