: Shots of a G8 in the wild - Finally !!
isszy 10-05-2007, 05:19 AM I've been trying to get a shot of one of the G8s getting around my area for a while. Well, finally today after work I found one parked in the street.
The driver was in a shop nearby and saw me taking photos, so I thought I'd have a chat. He said it was a preproduction car, as seen by the Holden rims and SS wing. The inside was pretty production though, with black leather. He said it drove excatly like a Commodore, which is a good thing for America.

Hhmmm...lots of GTO owners deleted the spoiler altogether ( I supported that). After seeing the G8 GT lip spoiler in pics I have to say that the sv6 or ss spoiler suits the car a lot better.......but that's just my opinion. The lip spoiler in this case seems to be a half assed attempt and makes the G8 look like it has a shaved butt.
pinski 10-05-2007, 07:43 AM Thanks for the great pics, isszy!
I think olly is right, though. I like a lip spoiler better than a wing 99% of the time, but not in this instance. I think I might have to add the SS-v wing to the car to give it the complete "look."
chiefpontiac 10-05-2007, 08:10 AM From wjat I read between the lines as far as accessories by model year it appears that the wing will not be available on 2008's and quite possibly that may also restrict the sport package. Why if pieces available as part of a package would they not be available individually? Time will tell.
pinski 10-05-2007, 08:37 AM I wonder how the lip spoiler is attached? As small as it is, it looks like it should be two-sided tape/glue/whatever. Good because the decklid will not have any holes on it, but I wonder how difficult it would be to remove if one wanted the SV6 or SSV wing.
Aussie G8 10-05-2007, 08:42 AM Looks nice. I do like that wing.

I'm going to have to agree with you. Even though I like the look of my GTO without the spoiler, I think the G8 will look best with the taller wing.
BTW Isszy, someone needs to tell that Copy place that they spelled CENTER incorrectly. :D
veritasatis 10-05-2007, 10:06 AM I do not understand how some people like the boy racer style spoiler. IMHO, the lip spoiler is much better looking than the spoiler picutred above.
Mike P 10-05-2007, 11:01 AM Isszy: Awesome shots! I love this car, mine is going to look just like that, but in black with a sunroof. Thank you again for the great pictures!

Haha - If you ever watched 'The Pretender', their headquarters was called 'The Centre' - the only time I have ever seen an American spell it correctly...

So you going for the LEFT HAND DRIVE sticker option ?
ToneyTone 10-06-2007, 11:11 AM Damn, this car is going to kick ass
isszy 10-06-2007, 11:17 PM I still reckon spoilerless is the best look

Hm. It looks less sporty with nothing at all. Very nice, but I'm partial to the lip spoiler, personally.
kick Z tail out 12-17-2007, 05:16 PM IMO the lip spoiler is sporty, yet classy. I like it.
^^^that reminds me of an accord

Agreed:D Less is always more in my book! That's why I always de-badge them as well...
Thanks for the pics Isszy!
Tyhay 12-18-2007, 09:13 AM Bigger is better
4gasem 12-18-2007, 04:21 PM Bigger is better
So why not buy a Grand Marquis or Crown Vic then? :D
Just got back from a GM meeting here in Dallas and I was able to step in and out of one... Makes me want it even more.
r.penguin@comcast.net 12-19-2007, 11:15 PM So you going for the LEFT HAND DRIVE sticker option ?
I understand it's standard factory equipment.

I cannot understand how people like the lip spoiler...IMHO its small, like something you'd find as an afterthought on like a camry or accord.
And this whole "Boy Racer"/"Rice" for the large spoiler...Its not an overly large wing, not some double biplane thing, not made out of aluminum.
So I guess these fall under "Boy Racer" wings too right:

Different strokes for different folks, I am just glad we have options.....
asylum 12-20-2007, 09:36 AM wings suit some cars more than others, 2 door coupe's normally get away with it a lot more. I gotta agree, they do look a little dicky on the VE

Everyone of the cars you showed is a 2 door... It's a known fact (lol) that you shouldn't put a big wing on a four door! :D
Lip it is!
appletonrc 12-20-2007, 06:39 PM The little lip spoiler reminds me more of a BMW or Audi. I much prefer that than the boy racer wing.
CTS-V 12-20-2007, 07:14 PM I love the SS spoiler. I wonder if the factory would accept it as an add, even if the US dealers cannot put in an order that way.
Does anyone know the option code for that spoiler?
LS2GTO 12-23-2007, 12:13 AM I dig the spoiler! It's designed for the car so why not have it? Its' more about aesthetics than function anyway. The GT should have the spoiler as an option for those mild mannered types.
chill 12-25-2007, 07:03 PM lip spoiler for me! if i couldnt get the lip spoiler, i would rather have a bare decklid rather than that larger spoiler. everyones got their own style ;)
chrish
Ramsesiii 12-25-2007, 09:07 PM Something low profile works for me on big sedans. Anything too large and it just doesn't look right. Nobody puts big spoilers on big Sedans.
mikmak 01-13-2008, 04:33 AM Personally I like the lip spoiler on the right car. Its just that US doesn't get it (yet)
