: How Hard is it to "TAG" a car.... ???

I went to my Pontiac dealer gave him a 2000 $ deposit for him to "order" my car...

I told him I wanted the 2009 G8 GT Fully Loaded (1SD Group Option) and to make sure he gets the nice black and red leather seats ....

Anyways call him back a week or so after told me that he had found my car and it was on his way ... in the mean time ... i got refuse for financing (WTF ROFL Make close to 100 000 $ a year, being only 21 .... ) Then got my dad to co-sign my thing, who does make even more money then I did.... got refused.... Dont understand that part but anyways

Told them, that I would just get my dad to get me a loan ... then I would pay him back, would have been nice to build my credit with it but ehhhh what ever.....

Anyways ... call him back for a Cash purchase price.... gave me 41230 - 1500 (ROFL) .... Then as he started to tell me the options on the car, and I came to realise that the car he had was a 1SC package .... and it did not contain my red and black seats ....

So told him that was in no way the car we where talking about, he then gave me the answer that he COULD NOT "order" the car just like that, and he had to do with what they send them ....

SO ..... My question to him ... was ... why in the world could you not just email ... gm so they tag that car for you ... since its paid in CASH ... FOR ***** Sakes !!!!!!!!

So anybody knows where I can find that Car in Canada or in the states if need be ..... cuz .. 31000 is still way less expensive then 41 000 ROFL ... they really think that we are stupid or what ??

Now im fighting with them to get my car .... I mean to they want to sell some cars or what ? And I am really getting frustrating, and might even go pick up my deposit and go spent it for a nice Dodge Charger SRT8 :judge:

What color?

Are US G8's importable in a way that will save you money?

Most Probably since there is no Duty on them... and I will only have to pay the taxes on it ... and a fee for paper work ..... Taxe of 13 % over 31 000 still his better then over 41 000

So yes I am open to go to the states... probably would cost me something like 37500 $ with taxes and everthing I would assume

Color would be

Pontiac G8 GT Panther Black Metallic with 1SD Package (Premium, Sport, Sunroof) + Black and Red leather seats

Call a dealership in the northern US... preferebbly east coast and they can tag one for you... it is just a matter of them looking at the online inventory and having a spare g8 authorisation available.

Since the G8 is not made in North America, you will need to pay duty (around 6% IIRC). Also, GM dealers in the US are not supposed to sell brand new cars to Canadians ... you might find some that will do it, but it's doubtful.

I was at a Niagara Falls NY dealership looking at a 06 GTO and the salesperson told me they just sold a new vehicle to someone in Toronto.

As long as you pay him cash ... does he really care where the car goes :driving:

GM vehicle? Some other manufacturers are okay with it, but for GM it's against their policies.

And I'm sure the dealer would love to make the sale, but when it goes through and they see the buyer is from Canada, GM may not be too happy with that dealer.

She said the car was new and it was a GM dealership so I would assume so.

If you pay cash and get the "certificate of whachyamacallit" you do not even have to give gm your name... so long as you trailer it off the lot you do not have to pay sales tax or registration at the dealership. Your warranty does not start until the certificate is turned in and the title is issued... (that last part is not quite that simple but I do not feel like explaining it reight now)

Canadian dealers may not be in the same tagging pool as US dealers so there may be more trouble getting what you want up north. But some bright news (and a little help from google) http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/GENERAL_MOTORS___SATURN.htm 2008 G8 (inclouding 888) and all 2009 GM product IS importable from the US. The duty is actually 6.1%, you still have to pay GST and QST and some otehr fees, but as they say, do the math and it may be in your favour to 'steal' an unsold G8 from down here.

P71, it is way more complicated than you make it sound, and GM US does have to be notified as any car not getting its warranty exchanged would not be covered (US warranty is 'void' in CA except for occasional travel by US resident) You also need a recall clearance letter.

http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/impusae.htm will give you all you need to know.

You are right it is more complicated (think I mentioned that no?), but it is possible...

Honestly the easiest way to do it is to get a mailing address in michigan or some other northern state and register it there... legal... not really... hve i seen it done? Yeah... a few LSX gtos are reunning around like that.

Pretty easy actually. Go to dealer. Have a check for $500 with you tell them you want an order form. They will ask what you want and put on a locator. If not found fill out order form and order it. It took 4 1/2 months to get my 03 Mach 1 like that. Now they called every time they got 1 in to see if I wanted it instead and I would always tell them "is it what I ordered?"

Red/black seats are available with every ext color except pacific slate, stryker blue, sport red and in extinct 08 colors ignition orange and stealth blue. And they are available in both leather and cloth depending on option level. But only on GT, no b/r on base V6.

Yeah ... welll that's pretty much what happened .. except I put down 2000 $

So anyways they call me saying they got my car, then I found out that was not what I ordered so .... (In the mean time, financing through GMAC failed, which intitled me to my 2000 $ back anytime I want it ... So I told, him I would have 14 000 $ cash ... and the rest willl be finance through a Bank, and my dad will Co-sign plus I will put the car as a Warranty.

So I told, him I spotted the exact car in the Boston Area, (not too far away from where I lived ) so if he want to sell is car ... he better start showing off some effort ...

In Canada you can only get the red & black seats with a black or red car:(
