Sounds like a nice setup. Are you going to be using the A pillars for the mid/tweet? I've got a few ideas for when I switch over to the 3 way Focal's when they become available. For now I'm just using the 2 way 165K2P with the factory locations. I'm getting a very good soundstage right now with no processing. If alpine ever gets some more pxa-h701's in stock it should be really good considering where everything is mounted. In the coming month or so I will be ordering another amp and a sub or pair of subs for kicker and working on hiding all of it in the spair tire well. I'm really liking the stealth effect of my install right now and really loving the sound I've been able to achieve with a few days work on adjusting those factory locations to the proper angles. Keep us up to date on the progress!

some of this product was taken out of my old car when I traded it in for the G8GT
and yes the mids and tweets were in the a-pillars in my old car and yes it was alot of work but luckily i work in that field (car audio)

I was thinking of doing the mids with some custom built mounts to mount somehow into the center channel area and the tweets in the stock location (but i will have to fool around with the angles i think)

the amp rack will house the 3 amps in the spare tire area and the audio control pieces ???? not sure where yet

hey pantherblack09,

How thick was the spacer you made. I bought a 1" unversal ring the other day and managed to install the speaker, but it wouldn't clear the door panel when I tried to put it back on. So, I decided to make my own spacer, but i'm not sure how much room I have to work with.

the spacer i made out of MDF and was 5/8 thick and it was a perfect fit

lol I know I know

I have made more progress, but not alot, all parts are here and ready it is just a matter of finding time

progress since my last post....

all wiring is complete, power, ground and all distribution is complete, amp rack is in process of being built, square steel tubing to house 3 amps the processor and the crossover, once that is done I will just have to wore it up and get the a-pillars made to house the mids and tweets

thx, I also have another question. I see you have a dql-8 from your sig. I just tried to install one and everything worked fine except the remote turn on feature. My amp would not power up. So, I measured the remote wire, and it gave me around 5 or 6 dc. Is this normally, I thought is supposed to output 12 dc.

what are you using the 2XS for if you have the DQL-8?

I'd rather see how everything got wired and mounted.

Thx for the pics so far.

You should cut some of that plastic from around the back side of the woofer if you can, the way it is there will possibly kill some midbass output.

Also, would you post a review on how these speakers sound? I am familiar with the tweeter, but not with the elate 6 and CDM54 midrange, reason being I was thinking about that setup, Thanks!

what are you using the 2XS for if you have the DQL-8?

the reason why I would of been using the 2XS is because I was going to run 3 amps

but plans have changed drastically and I am going to be selling everything

the reason why the plastic was left was to protect the speaker from water, as far as killing midbass, it might a little but it probably wouldn't be that noticeable

Thx for the pics so far.

the wiring that I have done in the trunk I will take some pictures

but there will be no more progress as I have to sell it all for some personel reasons
