A friend of mine at work just got a brand new Camaro convertable and is walking around telling everyone his car runs 12.8's BONE STOCK! Now I've looked and I'm seeing 13.5 to 13.2 which means my 13.2 and very best of 12.998 means I should't have any problems letting him get a good long look at my taillights and not much else.

His Camaro has just under 500 miles on it, has never been to the track and from what other co-workers have told me it seems slow compaired to my G8.

So what do you guys think? Should I make him feel bad now or wait a little bit before smashing his dreams?

I say smack him down now. If he wants, I can add insult to injury this Sunday since I'll be in Nottingham for a baby shower and bored out of my mind.

You'll take him, they are slow with so few miles, especially the convertibles.

I've not see one at the dragstrip run as fast as the magazines have claimed they can run. You will crush him...

I ran one at the strip and took him but I'm not stock either. I say run him.

LoL! Trying to set it up but with the goofy work hours its tough. I wanted to run him this morning but he was getting off and i still had like 2 hours to go.

I've raced both cars and stock for stock the Camaro would have the upper hand on you as it seemed to pull harder. Since you're not stock I think you would have a definite edge. Post the results for us!

There's husband/wife team with 2 new SS Camaros at our track, and they both run mid 13s, not low 13's. Only mods they have is CAI on both, one is auto and 1 is stick. They claim its because they can't get traction, but I ran 13.2-13.3 on six runs the same night they were there.

I raced an SS convert earlier this month at the track, my 13.3 to his 13.5.

Or, beat him barely so that when he mods and thinks he has you, you got more in the pedal......

The one I raced said he was stock, though I do not think that to be true even though I could see no mods. I don't trust him because he ran a 13 flat, and I have never seen that from a stock ss. It was a close race as I was in the high 12's. Could just a tune do that much, assuming that's what he had up his sleeve?

I saw a paper plated SS coupe run 12.9 at Gateway. Dude knew how to drive it though.

Exactly my point. Bracketracer is an experienced driver who is very familiar with his car. I was just confirming that a stock 6.2L could run 13.1 or better.

Never said it couldn't. But it has to be in the right car for the job, and thats not an automatic convertable as we found out last night.

We went out "just for fun" did best 2 out of 3 out in front of work and the first 2 times I treed him so baddly and got such a jump on him that he couldn't come back, ran out of road. Then it turned into a well if we were on the highway match he'd have me, but since he's bone stock and I no longer have a gov top speed even if he could catch me I'd reel him in and pass him in the long run.

Another story with a happy ending.

Yeah a Mid 10sec 418 Supercharged G8 vs a 2010 Camaro......would be amtrack links.....buses would not describe the beating he would have gotten.

Oh I have raced a camaro on the hwy.......he was not cocky and could hear the blower and just wanted to see her run. He came back up to me after the run and says holy hell that think is fast, such a sleeper.
