: TPMS Lifespan?

I won't bore you with the long sad story, but it turns out that the wheel I bought from a member here had the TPMS sensor removed, contrary to what was represented to me.

So, I'm in the market for a TPMS sender. They are $50 each from the dealer, and there is an offer on eBay for 4 for $50 which are take-offs from a Caddy.

My questions are: Is there a lifespan for these?
I assume that they are battery operated.
Does anyone know if the battery is user-replaceable?

Wikipedia says '7 to 10 year lifespan' but that is a non-brand-specific answer.

Thanks for any more specific info.

I bought some from ebay too that said they were for a Sierra. The part number is 15922396. To my surprise, it worked great for me.

BTW, I bought the kind that had the valvle stem assembly aready installed. I think that you are supposed to replace them each time they are removed from the wheel, but mine worked just fine. I was afraid to buy them without and find out it was $49 replacement part. :)

From a GM TSB on Tire Pressure Monitors:

Q: How long will the sensor's battery work?
A: The sensor is designed to last for 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 kilometers).
