: Road Hazard Warranty
GXPaycheck 08-12-2008, 01:33 PM Found out today there ain't one! Picked up a staple in the left rear (thanx TMPS) last night. Unfortunately it's into the sidewall area. non-repairable. So it's a new tire for me!
One would think the dealer would offer a road hazard warranty with the car.
Bummer. :(
chiefpontiac 08-12-2008, 01:56 PM Pontiac gave you at no extra charge, Roadside Assistance (http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/services/warranty/roadside/benefits) which includes a lot, but road hazards are not part of it or tire mfgr's warranty. You might have been able to purchase an additional hazard coverage or submit to insurance, depending on deduct. BTW, tires are only warranted on these cars by Gyear and Bstone, not GM.
GXPaycheck 08-12-2008, 02:09 PM Dealer had no aftermarket plan, unfortunately. Ran across a company online called Sonsio. Website is "roadhazardprotection".
Sounds interesting. Anybody hear of them?
Zaphod B 08-12-2008, 02:24 PM I drove my car to the nearby Discount Tire and purchased a road hazard warranty for my G8's tires, as well as the lifetime rotate/balance service you get when you buy tires from them. It's well worth it considering the price of tire replacement if you shred one.
glugo1001 08-12-2008, 02:25 PM Some tire manufacturers will also offer a "goodwill adjustment" to original equipment customers that suffer a non-repairable road hazard in the first few months/few thousand miles of ownership. They may offer you anywhere from 25-75% credit, so I would suggest contacting Bridgestone or Goodyear directly.

Good to get a second opinion! Took it to Discount Tire and they fixed the problem and gave me the warranty and lifetime rotation and balance and I only had to give them a tad over $200.00.
Not bad!
prl34 08-13-2008, 02:46 PM I'm surprised that your dealer didn't offer a road hazard warranty with the car. I did end up getting one through my dealer which covers the tires and the rims and the tire warranty is not prorated. I got this warranty for an additional $3.00/month on a 60 month loan. I can't remember the name of the company that the dealer got the warranty through right now, all of the paper work is at home.

Better have that paper in case the dealer forgets what product he sold you.
prl34 08-13-2008, 02:57 PM Oh, I have that paper, it's just not with me at work. Believe me I would never rely on anyone else to remember or keep track of what they sold me.
SRG963 08-13-2008, 03:22 PM Wow, didn't know about this. Thanks for the info, looks like I'll be stopping by Discount tomorrow :)

Dealer has no tire warranty program. Didn't know about Discount Tire till I told them.
Hope they pass it on!
baabootoo 08-13-2008, 08:29 PM My dealer DID offer road hazzard protection on the wheels and tires. It was $500 for three years. I can still get it as long as they're not damaged. Still thinkin' about it........

When you say they "fixed the problem," can you be more specific? Did they get you a policy concession (goodwill adjustment)? If so, how much? Just curious.
GXPaycheck 08-14-2008, 05:21 PM They determined that the staple was in a spot that allowed them to patch the tire from the inside. A little further outboard and it would have been a new tire!
Cool_Hand_Luke 08-14-2008, 06:05 PM PaycheckG8,
Glad it worked out for you
