: Nebraska?
HUSKERS 08-13-2008, 09:15 AM anyone else here from Nebraska? I was looking and didn't see any posts about the Husker Nation....
Also I noticed that Nebraska abbreviation is NB on this site...whom do I talk to about changing that to NE?
liquidred1 08-13-2008, 04:20 PM g8 owner here in NE. Omaha to be more specific. 168th & dodge area:)
HUSKERS 08-13-2008, 04:33 PM have you driven in snow with your g8 yet? just wondering how they handle in the snow.
does anyone here in omaha do anything around town with g8s? I live at 168th and harrison.
liquidred1 08-13-2008, 10:22 PM got my g8 in april of '08 so haven't driven in the snow with it. Dont really plan on it either as i have an '04 dodge ram quad cab 4x4 for the snow. might check some other threads on the traction issues, but from what i've read they seem like they shouldn't be too bad in the snow because of the 4000 lbs the car weighs. As far as any mechanical work i havent had any done yet, just some of the bolt-ons and DIY mods i did myself. I will be searching the area for someone to do some more major engine work like american racing long tube headers and a torque converter. i'll let you know if i find a good mechanic that can do this. congrats on your g8, I love mine. Stay glued to this board, it has tons of info on the g8 and what can be done with it. Let me know if you need help with anything as i have done all the "free" mods that can be done on the car already, i'd be happy to help you.:)
HUSKERS 08-14-2008, 07:12 AM where did you get your holden badges? the prices on the jhp site are a bit high for my liking. Did you get your car locally? I agree im not to worried about the winter but who knows.
liquidred1 08-14-2008, 11:24 AM i got my badges from jhp, but yes they are a little pricey.
Yes i got my car locally at Plaza Pontiac on 120th & I where the old sam's club used to be.
Do you have a g8 yet? if not i highly recommend going where i did.
HUSKERS 08-14-2008, 08:11 PM Just got mine last week. Picked up an 09 at Sid Dillon. I want to get some new badges and such....not sure how much more I am going to do. Are you planning on taking yours to any tracks?
1660
liquidred1 08-14-2008, 08:30 PM might take it to a track sometime but not sure when. i do plan on putting on a few mods such as the underdrive pulley, long tube headers, cam and torque converter....and maybe the magnusson supercharger but that would be my last mod. This car is simply a toy for now and plan on trading it up sometime for a vette. The vette being my ultimate goal for a dream car.:driving:
liquidred1 08-14-2008, 08:40 PM oh yeah i forgot, if you plan on doing anything to the car i would recommend as a minimum to do some type of tune to the ecm/tcm and a cold air kit. Also do the heat soak reduction kit and gr888's lower panel mod. Those mods alltogether should give you at least another 35+hp at the wheels and that might be a conservative estimate. You can really tell a difference when you do all of the above.

T.Rex 10-09-2008, 12:12 AM Purchased a loaded white 2009 G8 GT 9/24/08 from Reagan Pontiac. I live in NW Omaha. Hope to see some of you out on the road! Not much to say yet. I adore the car and it's the first non-European one I've had in 20 years. One terrifying test drive (for my wife & the salesman) and a stunned look at the sticker got me good! Plus, I had just turned in a Volvo S60R at Gorges, so I needed a ride.
I've installed the full clear bra, an iPod dock and a dual rear seat entertainment for the little people so far. A set of snow tires & wheels should be here tomorrow. I'm debating on putting them on since we are going up to Estes Park Colorado next week. I've only put 400 miles on the car, and I'd rather get some more miles on the 19" sport package footwear. My wife thinks otherwise! 1400 miles +/- with maybe 150 of them in the high country with the rest being cool Fall weather driving. Hmm....
Lewdag86 10-09-2008, 09:37 AM Not in Nebraska currently but thats where i was raised. Currently in the Air Force and stationed in Las Vegas. I have about a year and a half left and then i'll be back. Lucky for me i won't have to worry about snow till.

Is Bill Pemberton still out there? I have bought many Vipers, plus various other cars from him over the past 6 years or so. You guys are by far the best I have ever dealt with, with service second to none. Maybe one day I'll actually make it out there to visit the dealership ;).
HUSKERS 10-16-2008, 01:04 PM How do you guys think this car will handle when the snow starts flying? Thats my only concern with this car...everything else I love so far.
Doomraven 10-17-2008, 06:14 PM Hey all, 2009 G8 GT Red here in Omaha. I'm around Bellevue area, but work at about 120th and I if anyone's seen a bright red one hanging around. However, a 17 year old kid decided to rear end me last night so I probably won't be driving it until November sometime.
Cheers!
El.Diablos.G8 02-21-2009, 02:28 PM I am here in Bellevue NE....I have a 2009 G8 GT. I just saw a G8 GT 2008 with tags reading 1st G888
Doomraven 03-07-2009, 04:45 PM I live in Bellevue also. If you see a Red G8 GT in the area with an SC plate (don't have to have an ugly front plate since it's registered in SC), that's me.
GXPaycheck 03-07-2009, 08:56 PM Just spotted an Ignition Orange G8 in Lincoln in the Haymarket area. First one in 2 days!
Doomraven 03-10-2009, 06:16 PM Good to see that there are a few G8s running around in the area (even modded ones). I'll give ya a honk if I see ya around.
El.Diablos.G8 03-10-2009, 06:51 PM I roll with the GOAT Folks around Bellevue/omaha. So if anyone wants to get together with us then its cool. They just went last sunday for a "Pontiac GTO/G8 Dyno day" But I didn't make it so it was a GTO Dyno Day.
I'm here... I live in Gretna... I'm in sales and cover western Iowa/NE Nebraska so I get around with the G8.
Chances are that if I'm in town you'll catch me in the 170th & West Center area as my office is on 156th and I attend lifetime fitness as much as possible throughout the week.
If you see me don't hesitate to say high...
btw, you can't miss me....

Doomraven 03-10-2009, 08:07 PM I'll actually be moving out to 180th and Dodge as my new office is just NW of Westroads Mall. So if you frequent that area, I'm sure I'll see you a round. I didn't know that there was a GOAT club that hangs out. I may have to run with them some night. My G8GT is the liquid red and if it has a SC plate on it then that's me!
See you guys around maybe.
drisco z71 03-18-2009, 02:43 PM I'm in Axtell (south of Kearney) and going to college in Beatrice. no g8 yet but if you see my pickup go ahead and honk!

bboosalis 10-26-2009, 08:16 PM I'm at 42nd and leavenworth with a 09 g8 gt, premium, sport, liquid red. I'd love to cruise with any of you omaha members. I've read about a GOAT group of gto's and g8's and I want in lol! Any usual meeting times? Good to have people in the area for mod advice.
vmax223 10-27-2009, 10:06 AM I've got a Stryker blue 09 GT and live in northwest Omaha. Just put some Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus tires on it. We'll see how they do in the snow.
jspayne66 10-27-2009, 10:28 AM I have a 09 GT, liquid red, premium and sport package. Live in Papillion (52nd Cornhusker area). No mods other than debagged and Goodyear Eagle GT all seasons. Hopefully CAI, tune and catbacks in the near future.
jafrank12 01-28-2010, 10:37 PM Any new Husker G8's out there?
mustangchaz 02-04-2010, 04:57 PM I am looking for a 09 G8 GT in the Omaha area if anyone knows where to find one. I have color choices but not in a hurry.
vanilla13gorilla 02-16-2010, 10:03 AM Well, since the car just sits in the garage, I have been away from this forum for some time; yes it's a garage queen!. I see a few around this past winter but not to many, in Omaha. I took it out once last week to get the air pressure monitoring system reprogramed, but that was it. The summer tires are like hockey pucks on oil!!. Might be looking at getting some different tires the spring, A/S?. Hell, it has not even had the first oil change done yet, only 2000 miles on the clock, but it needs it. I have the Vararam CAI, and the American Racing LT in the garage just sitting their. Going to get the Livernois tune done when the parts go on, to damn cold to do it now, and the X-pipe still needs to be ordered. Still want to get a cam but I have to pay uncle Sam first:whine:. See you guys around town when things get warmer and they decide to fix the potholes, almost willing to trade in the GT for an M1 tank!!!....
jspayne66 02-16-2010, 10:58 AM Vanilla, I feel your pain on the potholes, although with the way our cars handle, it is borderline fun to see how fast you can dodge them! The potenzas where not a choice for me in the winter, I went with Eagle GT's, awesome tire for the money in both summer and winter.
vmax223 02-25-2010, 07:47 AM Anybody in the Omaha area have an after market exhaust installed? I have an '09 G8 GT and am going to put exhaust on it. I have had bad experiences in the past with expensive after market systems that did not sound anything like I expected. I'd appreciate your comments comments or the chance to hear a system. Thanks!

Guess it all depends on what your looking for. Something loud?, deep?, rumble?. Headers, long or short will affect the sound. Catted or no cats?. You can look around on some of the other threads and they have video clips of their exhaust note. Some sound good, other sound like crap. Personally, I like the LT headers with the Corsa full exhaust, using their db mufflers. I guess it has the least, if no, drone at all. But we are all different so it just matters on your likes or dislikes...
vmax223 02-25-2010, 02:38 PM I'm looking for something that will bring the snarl out at WOT but still be able to carry on a conversation with someone in the back seat cruising down the highway. I'm currently leaning toward a MagnaFlow 3" cat back system. I've read a lot of the threads but from the video clips you can't really tell how loud it will be, particularly inside the car. They are better than nothing but even Magna Flo's video clips aren't much help. Exhuast sound is such a subjective thing that the only way to tell is listen to another car with a similar setup. I'm not interested in headers - at least not yet. At this point it's more about sound than power.
mustangchaz 02-25-2010, 02:41 PM I actually own a couple of Meineke Car Care Centers in Omaha and we might be able to bolt your system on for you and you could hear yours against a magnaflow system and flowmaster if you know which system you are thinking about. It really depends on the kind of sound you are lookng for. G8s sound different than say a 6.0 on a Silverado. you can give me a call at my shop if you want more info. Ask for Charley and tell them you know me from this forum and they will let you through. 402-571-0944
jspayne66 02-25-2010, 02:52 PM I probably shouldnt even bring this up since I will more than likely get attacked by several members, but have you thought about trying the washer mod to see if a louder exhaust is what you want? I tried it for fun (and curiosity) for about a week, i must say that i was plesently surprised. Sounded really good, not like a leak, no drone, no exhaust odors inside of cabin, and with WOT its amazing, got a lot of looks too! (1 washer on bottom w/ no gaskets) Not sure in my opinion. but some other forums say it resembles the magnaflow short system.
Anyway, back to dodging potholes in the Big O!
vanilla13gorilla 02-26-2010, 07:17 AM Were here lies the problem. Magnaflow has nice products however I heard a ton of people complain about the drone issues. I talked to a guy here in Omaha a while back and he had the magnaflow mufflers on his Goat and he had to get rid of them because the drone was so bad in his car. I know if he had drone in his Goat, the G8 will be even worse, very bad acoustics!. Look under the 'Exhaust' board, their is a new Dynomax muffler with a flap in it that open up under WOT but is shut when closed, making it quieter; so they say. Its just a muffler so you will need to add tips and etc. to bolt it up. Pretty cheap, less then a 100$. Kooks makes a nice axle-back muffler system with little drone. I agree, I dont want the drone but want a nice sound. Hell, my LT headers are just sitting in my garage until it warms up. I will be going with the Corsa full exhaust, pricey but worth it to me. If you cant find a good clip of the G8 exhaust, try looking for the GTO's exhaust clips, will sound 'similar', I say 'similar' VERY loosely!!.. Just my 2cents!........

i am with this guy. i tried the washer mod. i put a thick washer on each bolt in the back. like a head bolt washer. sounded good, deep.
it did get you into the drone at 70mph so you will get to see how much that bothers you.

I guessing where the axle back bolts up to the main exhaust?. How thick?. parish8; I gotta see your car sometime....., very nice!:wink2:
vmax223 02-26-2010, 07:37 AM Thanks everybody! All the advice is appreciated. Bolting on exhuast in the shop, I appreciate the offer and may take you up on it, will tell you exactly how it will sound at idle and free revving, but you absolutely have to drive it, especially at light to medium cruise throttle. Learned that one the expensive way. Sounded great in the shop but in normal driving it was awful! Far louder at 1700 to 1900 rpm than at full throttle. Wasn't on my G8 though. I'll probably call Corsa, Magna Flo, & Solo and talk to their techs. Thanks again for the input! I live in the 120th & Maple area and work near 102nd & L. If you see a Stryker Blue '09 w/ Sports, Premium, tint, Roto-Fab CAI (LOVE the way that sounds!) give me a shout.

thick. you can tell, either one thick washer at each bolt or a couple of thing ones.
my car isn't much to look at. infact it is really dirty and looks like crap. i need to find someone to do a kick ass clean up on it. like the clay bar and all that stuff or whatever it is you are suppose to do to make it look good and feel all buttery soft/smooth.
parish8 02-26-2010, 07:40 AM you know what helps with the drone? a couple of turbos in the exhaust stream:)
vanilla13gorilla 02-26-2010, 07:45 AM LOL!!, +1 on the turbos!!.. Our looks just as bad, will clay bar it this spring and give it a Zaino job!. Dono vmaxx, it all depends on what you want. Sometimes you just have to take a chance and go with something. You can always change it and sell the old system here!.

I have seen you here and their, I live not to far from you, just to the north. Actually, when I see your car , I look twice because I think my wife snuck the car out for a joy ride:driving:, we pretty much have the same color and option package car. Only difference is ours has a dark tint, if it was not for that I would of been on the phone chewing some butt thinking it was my wife!.
vanilla13gorilla 02-26-2010, 09:10 AM thick. you can tell, either one thick washer at each bolt or a couple of thing ones.

Hey parish8, I'm interested in the cam you put in. You do it yourself, and how long did it take?. I want to crack open that block and get a cam in their, just wondering how much of a pain in the ass it was doing it with the engine in the car?.
jspayne66 02-26-2010, 04:51 PM vanilla, I have seen yours driving down cornhusker as well, and i also think to myself my wife snuck my car out as well. Our cars may look similar again, i just had 20% tint put on today.
Regarding washer thickness, i used one 3/8" I.D. fender washer (1/16" thick) on the bottom bolt w/ no gasket (takes about 10 minutes to do). I have 2 extra washers if you want them or if you want to hear it sometime just PM me.
bboosalis 03-26-2010, 05:31 PM who wants to cruise the omaha area? The weather is getting to be money and I wouldn't mind turning some heads with a group of g8s.
mustangchaz 03-30-2010, 09:49 AM I don't have a car yet but I am looking hard now for what I want. Let me know if you see any black, either red or even the black metallic with a sunroof and low miles and i would be interested...... paying in the mid-twenties.
JSGT09 04-06-2010, 11:41 AM Just bought a White GT last week! Anyone else still check this thread?
jspayne66 04-06-2010, 11:46 AM I have been subscribed for some time, but it is a pretty quiet thread.
parish8 04-06-2010, 12:27 PM Just bought a White GT last week! Anyone else still check this thread?
you need a couple of turbo on that thing.
JSGT09 04-06-2010, 01:26 PM Yeah maybe down the road a few years! Funny thing, my buddy was just telling me last weekend about how you have a G8 with a couple of turbos on it. Glad to see you got into them! Want to see it run sometime this summer if you are at MAM. I still liked seeing the truck run though...nothing like a 4x4 launch.
mustangchaz 04-11-2010, 09:36 PM to get it and i drove it back the same day. Got in at 3am but it was way worth it to get some quality seat time in this beautiful car. I have owned several fast cars in my life and thought i was over it all by now (with three kids and coaching soccer and running my businesses) but I was way wrong. This car makes me feel 16 again...maybe it is a midlife crisis but I have been waiting for this car for over a year to buy a nice used one with low miles. i had to fly 775 miles to find the one I wanted with all the options i wanted but it was so worth it.
I was a true blue Ford guy and i had never bought anything (personally) that was not a Ford. Before you GM guys get all giddy and start firing back comments, just remember Ford is not a Government Motors Company like the other two. Okay, seriously though, the thing I don't get is why the people who read the reviews, didn't go out and buy the heck out of these cars especially if they watched any of the youtube races and the cult following these cars have reached at this point. Whatever - all I know is I have put a 1000 miles on this car in one day and I can't leave the thing alone - i absolutely love this car and my family loves it too. I have the best of both worlds - a family sedan that fits 5 comfortably and has a huge trunk for a car of its size. It looks so good just sitting there and then you start the thing (mine has Magnaflows installed) and you just want to drive it. It is the perfect Wolf in sheep's clothing (4-door sedan that isn't an M5). I guess you could say I don't have buyer's remorse.

Glad to see another one around here. What year and color?. Now you just need to get some go fast parts and away she goes. Oh yeah, your gonna love detailing this car, 'right'!. Mine was not even that dirty and it took both Sat and a part of Sun to clay bar it and get the layers of Zainos wax on it. I'm not complaining but I guess you dont realize how dirty the paint is until you clay it, all I can say is Jesus....:whine:. I bought my GT for about the same reasons as you, kids, wifey, basketball, blah, blah, blah. First thing I did at the dealership was sit in the back seat then the test drive, for some reason they did not get a smile when I raced out of the dealer lot and the rear end got loose and squirly:driving:!! . Also,I had more room then almost any car I have been in close to the price, and a lot not even close. Bang for the buck?, you cant beat it!!!...
JSGT09 04-12-2010, 09:42 AM Congrats on the purchase man, been loving mine the couple of weeks I've had it.
I ended up doing the washer exhaust mod last weekend and a homemade oil catch can. Exhaust note is a little more noticeable now but not a ton. Does sound better. Ordered HID's that should be here soon and sometime this week will be taking off the secondary engine cover. A little nervous to take off the fuel rails but it should be fine.
Did an oil change as well and threw some Mobil 1 in her. Man these things take forever to drain!

2009.5 with Bluetooth (I love not being distracted with my phone) and it is Sport Red Metallic. I am working on the go fast parts. It has some bad car wash brush scratches all the way around the car (serious buff needed) but aside from that, it is like new including the interior is almost perfect. I was thinking about having C&S do a tune on it when I am ready. Ever heard of them? I have read several posts about tranny slop between gears in non sport mode and mine falls flat for a half a second sometimes. My goal is to get some rims first and then start the modifications probably starting with a Vararam and try to modify it to make an active ram air set up (I hate fake scoops). Who knows....what are the vitals on your car? I may have seen it. today, on 84th around L Street, I saw a black one with all lettering removed on the back (stealth) and I may copy that as well. I also know there are two in Elkhorn, one like mine (with black/chrome wheels) and a silver one that (the owner) works at Menards.
parish8 04-13-2010, 06:35 AM things are picking up around omaha. i see a g8 every couple of days. i often get a wave.
maybe it is some of you guys?
vanilla13gorilla 04-13-2010, 07:19 AM Congrats on the purchase man, been loving mine the couple of weeks I've had it.
Seriously, who in the hell put the OE oil filter on?. The Hulk?. I had to put a screwdriver through it, first time in YEARS since I had to use a hammer and screwdriver on any oil filter. Needless to say, I had some choice words for those SOB's:slap:

My wife and I was you the other day, and she said 'look! another one!'. I said, stay away form the white one, yours, as I see that it's out of this world fast!. I would like to see it, not race it as I dont want to go home with my tail between my legs....
vanilla13gorilla 04-13-2010, 07:42 AM 2009.5 with Bluetooth (I love not being distracted with my phone) and it is Sport Red Metallic. I am working on the go fast parts. You will get the swirls out pretty easy with some good products and elbow grease. C&S dose good work as the tuned my buddies 87 Buick Turbo T and it put down some crazy #'s after the tune. Forgot what they charge but I believe it was reasonable. I like Livernois myself. You can always get the tune 'updated' as you add more crap to the car, and mostly dose not cost a penny more. Downside is it costs 600$+. I like them, IMO. We were not out near there, 84th & L today. Plus mine is Liquid Red, not black but I love the black otherwise mines mostly debaged. Man, if you can get the hood scoops to work, you must let me know but I think some thread member have tried with little luck or little results, low pressure over the scoops actually draws the air out and not 'shoving' it in. Just things I have read, who knows. Other guys have opened up the scoops, to cool the motor, but drenched their motor with water in a rain storm, Hell if I know.. Looking at a powder coat shop in Papillion, or Valmont in Valley, to get the 19" rims coated black. Yeah, yeah, could go buy aftermarket but I just wanted something a little different but still 'looks' the same, i'm just odd. Trying to go with a blackout look but we will see as time goes on.... depends on the price. If its to much I will say screw it and buy aftermarket 20x10's for the rear and 20x 8.5 for the front. My CTS-V 'buddy' loved the my G8!. Strange, coming from a snob and his 'super' caddy. I think he is full of s***, myself. I told him I would love to line them up, might need the 'spray':secret: (uh-uhm!) to keep up. I will be looking for ya Chaz...
jspayne66 04-16-2010, 09:21 AM Vanilla, another great wheel repair/ mod shop is wheel tech off of 60th and military. they can also fix bent wheels for a reasonable price.
jspayne66 04-16-2010, 09:23 AM anybody in the Omaha area had to have their LCA/ bushings replaced? I am getting alot of clunking in the front end over small bumps so i am fairly positive they will need to be replaced? Just wondering if it was a hassel with the dealer or not.

Well, I have a clunk in the front end, passenger side. But mine only happens when you drive in reverse then go forward with the wheel turned to the left a bit, as if backing out of my driveway. A big 'thunk' is heard when you go forward. Also, the other day it started making all kinds of 'thunking' sounds at slow speeds, not so much over bumps like yours. I bought it with a 100 miles on the clock and had been doing the single 'thunk' since day one. I now have 3800 miles on it and it seems to be getting worse, slowly. I may take it to H&H service, dont go to Plaza if you can; bad experence and a bunch of B.S. liar's!!. If someone has another good dealer, let me know. So far, and I mean 'far', H&H has been honest and courtious, so far.... we will see when I take it in for the e'ffing 'thunk"!!. Kinda getting tired of old recalls...

I had a lot of sqeeking this winter when the temps dropped down. If it starts again this winter I'll take it in likely for this problem.
mustangchaz 04-25-2010, 01:52 PM I ordered the Vararam last thursday from Maryland Speed....seemed to have the best price with free shipping. Had the car buffed and it is near perfect now. geting ready to pull the emblems off. I saw a blacked out G8 GT with matte black rims Friday am around 7:00ish on 102nd and Blondo....anyone on the Forum know this car?
El.Diablos.G8 04-25-2010, 11:08 PM This thread is going a little bit.... Can't wait to get back in June to drive around my G8. Its sitting in my garage with snow tires still on it.
JSGT09 04-26-2010, 11:51 AM I might have seen the same black G8 around Blondo a month or so ago. Just saw another white one this morning on Fort and a gray one downtown that the guy just bought from Gorges. Almost bought that one but went with the white instead.
Does anyone have exhaust in Omaha? I really want to do a SOLO kit but am torn on the sound level I want.
jspayne66 04-26-2010, 11:57 AM I was behind a LR GT the other day (kind of funny seeing two LR Gt' s back to back), he had a SLP exhaust on it, sounded pretty good from the rear, didnt have enought time to ask him if he had drone problems.
El.Diablos.G8 04-26-2010, 12:11 PM I bought PM-FL axle back and its pretty loud.

UGHHH, dont get me started. I took it in to get the TPMS reprogramed a long time ago. Said they did it. WRONG. I called GM to see if it did get updated, it was not. That was back in Nov. I called Plaza and they said it takes awhile for GM to update their systems. I waited till March, still GM said it was not done. Great, went to H&H and told them about my fustration with Plaza and they were more them happy to get me in and get the TPMS reprogramed, half hour job (they said it was NOT reprogramed when they looked at the version # in the computer). I asked if their was any other service 'issues' that GM put out and they said, not as far as the reprograming goes but there are other service 'issues' that has to do to the klunks, knocks, vibrations, etc in the front end. Said, when and if it happens to my G8, they will be more then happy to get it fixed at no charge. They are pretty good guys, and really want to try to make you happy, GM asks you to do a survey once you get your car worked on and the dealer wants to get great grades. I filed a formal complaint with GM about Plaze B.S. service and gave them failing grades on the survey, they are real happy with me:).
My last bitch, I promiss, is when I bought the car new their. The driver floor mats were all tattered and torn up, guess from people test driving it. The foam on the back was all riped off and the fuse panel was on the dashboard. I told them to detail the car, yeah right!. Same floor mats, just wiped down. I went back a week later to bitch about the floor mat, I told them I bought a new car and I dont want used floor mats!. The service manager said he will put 'new' ons in the front. WTF??. They sure did!. They must of found some 'new' ones in the back that had the foam intact but was faded from dirt and use from another car (USED!!). Now the floor mats dont match. I have light black floor mats and dark black carpet, perfect. GM wont do a thing about it either, I gave up on this issue.
Believe me, if those Plaza people were on fire I would not even waste my piss to put the fire out!. OK, i'm done bitching, 4 now:whine:.

I have some Kooks LT still sitting in the garage, being lazy to get them in. Might be a bit loud. I will run Kooks X-pipe and the stock mufflers, but if $ permits, I will get the Corsa exhaust system put in. Either way, should have something in by May. I will let you know when its done if you want to listen to it.....
JSGT09 05-04-2010, 03:45 PM Was anyone with a red GT parked by the American Interstate Bank yesterday on 159th and Maple?
bboosalis 05-09-2010, 02:16 PM Hey guys do any of you have the VMS powercal Cable and if so would I be able to shoot you some cash to use it for a VMS ECM/TCM tune with the Rotofab. I guess I'm not sure exactly whether I would even be able to use it but I guess I'm trying to save a little money if I don't have to buy my own.
meztup 05-18-2010, 10:39 AM Yeah. I tried to drive it in about 2 inches of snow last winter. It was OK with traction control off and 2 bags of tube sand in the empty GT spare tire tub. Of course, I also had summer tires on the car at the time. Snow kept falling (and falling), so I parked it and drove the POS truck all winter.
Verdict - Don't drive it in the snow unless you have to. If you have to, you also have to get good all-weather (ify) or snow tires (better).
mustangchaz 05-18-2010, 04:13 PM Vararam - check, Magnaflow 3" catback - check, Tune and dyno by C & S - May 25th. Anyone need a set of lightly used Magnaflow Axle backs in the box? Make me an offer or it is going on Craig's list or Ebay. Still love my car and averaging 20 mpg.
Doomraven 06-02-2010, 05:33 PM Hi all,
I haven't been on the forums in quite some time so I thought I'd reintroduce myself. I have a 2009 LR GT and I live out West on 180th and Dodge. So, if anyone sees a LR GT out that way with a South Carolina plate on the back, that would be me. Give a honk if you see me as I do get to see a few G8s out that way. If anyone wants to go on a cruise or something, hit me up.
mustangchaz 06-02-2010, 10:55 PM I saw one heading west on dodge at about 6:00ish at 132nd. Was that you or another LR G8?
Doomraven 06-03-2010, 02:14 PM Mustangchaz - Yep, that was most likely me!
mustangchaz 06-05-2010, 11:54 PM I love seeing these cars around. We are so stealthy....nobody wants to mess with me but I am debadged and i have the 3" catback and it sounds threatening. Anybody ever go down to MAM to strut their stuff?

Doomraven 06-08-2010, 02:25 PM For all of you that are out West...
The gas station on 168th and Dodge is now selling 93 Octane fuel. Just noticed it when filling up my bike a couple days ago. To my knowledge, this is the only place in town that you can get 93 at.

all of the philips fantacys started selling 93octane with ethanol. i put a tank in my car and for the first time was able to run knock free to 12psi. i am running meth too but it is maxed by 9psi.
JSGT09 06-10-2010, 11:04 AM I saw the 93 octane with ethanol for the first time a few weeks back. Its about the same price as 91 without ethanol at different stations. Will be nice to have the option to run a 93 octane tune when I decide to buy a Cortex.

I actually just ordered the rotofab from vms with their 91 octane ecm/tcm tune. Even though this station has 93 I don't think anywhere in Lincoln has it (where I go a lot) so even though the 93 tune would have been much better I think we're stuck with 91 for now until more places in Nebraska start to carry it.
JSGT09 06-14-2010, 02:52 PM Saw two more white G8's last weekend. One on 168th and Blondo and one at the HyVee on 156th and Maple. Anyone here?
BTW installed a GXP diffuser last week and for $60 it was a great addition. Nice to get rid of that hard to clean honeycomb on the stock GT one.
Doomraven 06-15-2010, 01:03 AM If one of those was LR, it was most likely me as I live on 180th and Dodge and frequent those areas quite a bit.
jspayne66 06-15-2010, 08:30 AM I came across a LR yesterday at 50th and Center with the plates "Big 8", he also had the gxp diffuser. His car looked good with the exception of the Husker plates!

If I recall you have a CAI correct? Did Plaza mention anything to you about this as I just installed the rotofab and VMS ecm/tcm tune. Hoping to not have any problems with Plaza with these items (shouldn't have to worry about the stealth tune but CAI maybe?)
jspayne66 06-21-2010, 01:10 PM I do have a Roto-fab, but I put the car back to stock for dealer visits (personal choice, only takes 10 minutes to swap them out). I've talked with the guys form Plaza and they seem mod friendly, but id rather play safe than sorry.
JSGT09 08-09-2010, 11:23 AM Anyone interested in going to MAM sometime when the weather cools down a little? I just bought a Cortex tuner that should be here today or tomorrow and want to run at the track sometime.
bsmith17 08-10-2010, 08:08 PM LR here.
I sold my C5 Corvette in December of 08 and bought the G8.
Anyone looking for a good dealer/service department...Sid Dillon in Blair.
It's a little out of the way for the Omaha group, but they are worth it.
I'm a bad influence and my step-dad bought a C6 a couple years ago, and he takes it to Dillons if it needs dealer service. It's 90 miles from where he lives and there are probably 10 Chevy dealers closer to him.

Did you happen to have a tranny flair also???.. I have been off this forum for several month due to the fact work is BUSY. My LCA still clunk a bit at slower speeds but the tranny 2-3rd shift, when cold, dose not want to pick up 3rd. I went to Plaza, LOVE THOSE GUYS!!, to see if they knew anything. The tranny service guy said something about the Acadia doing it and he thought he had a bolt in kit for the G8 or a reprogram of the tranny. Im guessing the seals are leaking in the tranny, from reading other threads..... I dono..

Not at that time. I noticed lately that if i go WOT, its a 50/50 shot on whether it will shift into 3rd in sport mode, i need to have them look at it. I have lately noticed a clunk in the drivers side front end, I think it is the strut tower bushing problem others have had.

My tire guys here in town said to watch for abnormal tire wear. I guess this is a tell-tell sign that something is not right in the suspension. I just got mine rotated last week and they said the wear is normal. I still am going to have this 2nd-3rd flair thing looked at this week down at Plaza... maybe H&H, we'll see...

Were your LCA's clunking a lot before you brought it in to have them replaced? I noticed mine making noise a couple of times but not that often. I'd like to have them taken care of but afraid they might not be able to replicate the problem.
Also plan on taking care of the 2-3 shift flare issue and rear main seal leak at the same time. Hope my car isn't gone for too long...

They were clunking off and on, the service writer acknowledged that it is a well known problem and they are taking care of it. I need to get it in again for some new strut tower bushings, let me know how the 2-3 flare fix goes.

X2. I will be taking mine in this fall or winter as I know it will take awhile to get all these issues done, shift flare, LCA's, etc. Would like to know how it goes also.... I hope for the best.
JSGT09 09-16-2010, 06:35 PM I know it's kind of late notice, but I'll be at MAM tomorrow night running the G8 through the 1/8 mile if anyone is interested in joining. My buddy is bringing his C6 so we'll see if a tuned G8 can keep up with an LS2!

JSGT09 09-27-2010, 09:41 AM I wish. Planning on buying a Mach Shorty Unbalanced system next spring. If you end up with one before then let me know as I'd like to hear it.
jspayne66 09-27-2010, 09:46 AM It will be next spring before I install it (assuming i buy it over winter), I am considering the mach-balanced, simply because of the kid(s).

Just took it into the dealer for the tranny flare, rattling headliner near the sunroof, LCA's, and the LED third brakelight that burned out. They called me and said their is a problem with the tranny seals. I just play dumb about the tranny and they came dealer through with no BS excuse. They are upgrading the tranny seals and looking at that seeping rear main seal, my only oil leak. Probably will not have it back for the rest of the week, gotta love this loaner car they gave me (better on the gas but boring!!)...
We will see what happens to the rest of the issues I have, hopefully they just replace the parts with 'updated' parts. Guess we will see?.
You get your's looked at yet??...

I have not had them look at the tranny yet, they did fix the remaining LCA's though. Remind me, what was your tranny doing (if i remember it was getting stuck it 2nd gear)?
bboosalis 11-15-2010, 10:33 PM Hey guys. I'm guessing a few of you have some thoughts on this. I have the rotofab intake with the VMS ECM/TCM tune.
The G8GT is my year round driver and the snow tire/wheel combo is coming on soon.
Do I need to replace the factory intake for winter or leave the rotofab? I don't have the cable to change back to factory ECM so I am stuck with the vector ECM tune.
Recommendations?

I had the notorious 2-3 flare. They are also looking at that rear main seal that leaks a bit of oil also. I'm just glad they are replacing the internal seals in the tranny and I did not have to mention anything about it.:)

I don't know how the Rotofab dose in the snow. I would keep it on since you are stuck with you're tune, not like you will be racing it around on these crappy roads this winter. Mine will probably go into garage hibernation next month as it has those Potenza 050 ice pucks for tires on it. Just keep an eye on the Rotofab for snow collection this winter and if it gives you trouble, go back to the stock air intake. Should not be that big of a deal, I think???...

Got it back yesterday, only gone for one day. They replaced the 1-2-3-4 and 3-5 reverse clutch sealing rings and some seal kits. Fixed the headliner rattle near the sunroof, twice, and the burned out third brake light. Guess they could not find anything wrong with the LCA's clunking. Maybe it's just me hearing things but I will keep an eye on that issues next year. Much firmer shifts in all gears, dose not act so 'confused' when shifting anymore. Manual downshift very crisp now. This is on the stock tune and I will reload the HP Tunner as soon as I get some time to see how things hold up. They gave me NO grief about the mods on the car which I never bring to their attention so, all is good their!. All in all ,much better....

Did you take it to Plaza or H&H. My tranny seems to get stuck in 2nd gear while in sport mode from time to time under WOT.

Plaza gets thumbs down from me, but that is my personal opinion. I called H&H but they could not get me a loaner car as they were out. So, I went to the Huber dealer. I delt with a service guy named Adam. Nice guy and no BS!!. I still like H&H as my place to go to, I just wish they had a loaner car for me. But I was still happy with Huber. OHHH, saw a 2011 CTS-V :driving:on the showroom floor, FANCY, price I ment!!!
Doomraven 12-23-2010, 04:51 PM Happy holidays Husker G8s!
jspayne66 01-27-2011, 05:26 PM Anybody in the Omaha area have a Solo exhaust? I am looking into purchasing one but would like to hear it in person first.
vanilla13gorilla 01-28-2011, 04:43 AM Dont know, but I would like to hear one also!. I have heard clips on that stupid youtube but I dont think it dose any justice. Dont they have sounds on their website of the G8?, I dont know.. I was in Florida the other month and talked to a guy that had Flowmaster Super Delta 40's. He had those custom made J bends made into the exhaust, NO drone at any speeds and was music to my ears with his lumpy cam..
JSGT09 01-28-2011, 08:39 AM I'm getting a SOLO Mach unbalanced catback this spring. I'll let everyone know in case people want to hear it!
Doomraven 02-07-2011, 09:21 AM I have Kooks LT headers and SOLO Shorty Balanced sitting in my garage waiting to be installed...don't have any jackstands or a lift to do the work myself so I have to beg some friends to help me out. Should be done in the next couple weeks.

Nice! I will be looking forward to hearing it when complete. keep us posted.
Doomraven 02-10-2011, 02:12 AM I see you play in the BPHL? That's interesting, I play goal in the MCHL. We've probably been on the same ice before.

Nice, how long have you been playing? We are always needing goalie subs so let me know if you are interested.
Doomraven 02-11-2011, 12:29 AM First year playing in the adult leagues. I played for 12 years in the A to AAA level when I was younger out of Omaha, Des Moines and Canada in the summers. Just now getting back into the sport. I'm usually up to help sub out for teams. Shoot me a PM for contact info if you're ever needing a goalie or to talk shop.

Out of curiousity, how old are you?
Doomraven 02-11-2011, 09:57 AM I'm 27. I stopped playing when I went to college and now, with two degrees and a booming career making rich people, I have time and energy to get back into the sport.

I was just wondering if we ever skated together, I am 33 so that answers my question. Let me know once you get your exhaust installed, i am very curious to hear it in person.
pmdramair 02-12-2011, 09:40 AM When the weather gets better you'll see another G8 in Nebraska! I bought a Liquid Red 09 GXP in November. So if your in Lincoln and see me, track me down. If you can catch me ! ha

Whats the status on the install date?
JSGT09 02-18-2011, 01:44 PM I think I saw that red GXP for sale right after I bought mine. Congrats!
Also curious about the exhaust install date. I want to hear that setup!
Doomraven 02-22-2011, 08:24 AM Been out of town every weekend this month so it has been a challenge trying to find time. I'll get an update up here ASAP since I'll have a couple free weekends coming up pretty soon. I'm getting real itchy to get this stuff on the car. It's been sitting in my garage since December! I'd do it myself, but no tools or jacks.
bboosalis 02-22-2011, 07:42 PM Any of you guys interested in helping out in a borla catback install? I don't have jacks or tools and would need to borrow both. I'd be happy to give you cash for your help! The install would be the weekend of the 12th or 19th of march.
Thanks in advance!!!

Just ordered from Maryland speed and it'll be here next week! Can't wait to here this thing. Again any of you guys that would be willing to use their stands or have any experience with exhaust installs would be appreciated!

Bruceleroy40 02-23-2011, 07:46 PM Hello everyone in the Bellevue/Omaha, NE area! I just bought my new G8 last Monday from Sid Dillion in Fremount and I have to say, I'm LOVIN' it! I had a '06 GTO (same color) that I had to get rid of due to a divorce so I have to start all over again with mods. I was pretty much max out on mods on my goat but its going to be fun doing some stuff with this 4 door beast in sheeps clothing.
So, who has a good reliable shop for doing some serious engine work for me?
Looking forward to your responses!

I don't suppose it was black was it? Because I just picked up a black 06 m6 from sid dillon in Fremont in January. It appears to be stock other than a lingnefelter intake on it though.

No, it was spice red and it's been gone for almost a year now.

Congrats on the new car, amazing how many people will ask you 'what kind of car is that?'. I love seeing jaws drop when I tell them it's a Pontiac. So what are you looking to do to the engine?. Unless you're doing cams, rods, pistons, etc, you can do most of it yourself including cams. Ahhh, damn divorces. Everyone needs a few of those...
Doomraven 03-06-2011, 08:57 AM Tried to get all the exhaust/header goodies on the car yesterday with a buddy of mine and a few jackstands and was unsuccessful at getting anything bolted up. I'll have to get another buddy of mine that has a lift and some actual car knowledge to help me the next time around. Screw those O2 sensors!
vanilla13gorilla 03-07-2011, 05:44 PM Keep us posted.. Get rid of of the cats and get the O2 loop back, sounds good but is not I'm sure..
Doomraven 03-09-2011, 05:14 PM Have a buddy that has a couple lifts in his garage that is willing to bolt stuff up with me next weekend so hopefully, I'll have everything done at that time and I can get some sound clips out to anyone in the Omaha/Elkhorn area that is thinking about getting the same system.
Doomraven 03-20-2011, 08:39 AM Got everything bolted up and it sounds amazing! The install went really well with only one hiccup on the whole setup. The hardest part was taking all the OEM crap off. Once that was done, it only took about two hours to put everything on from headers to full exhaust. If anyone wants to hear this setup in person before you buy, just give me a buz. The video clips of this setup just doesn't do it much justice.
Cheers!
JSGT09 03-21-2011, 03:29 PM That's awesome. I for one would love to hear that setup as I'm contemplating between the Mach and Mach Shorty for my catback in the next month. Where in Omaha are you located? Maybe some of us can meet up in the next few weeks once the weather gets nice again?
Bruceleroy40 03-21-2011, 03:55 PM Looking at a complete header/exhaust KOONS system. Inputs my friends! LOL
pmdramair 03-21-2011, 07:22 PM Saw a LR G8 driving down 27th street in Lincoln today with In-Transit tags. It's the one that was on Sid Dillon's lot last week. I couldn't get the guy stopped.
Doomraven 03-22-2011, 12:16 AM I'm located at 180th and Dodge and I have a couple offices around Westroads and 144th and Harrison so I'm out and about quite a bit. I'd be up to meet up with a few of the Omaha/Elkhorn guys.
I'm really loving my setup so far and I am finding it quite difficult to stay off of the throttle, but this is certainly a system you should hear in person before purchasing if you have the opportunity. It may be way too loud for some, but just right for others that are looking for that true "muscle car" sound. In my opinion, the car sounds like it should have from the factory!
Speedchaser 03-22-2011, 08:58 PM If you guys plan a get together in or around Omaha in the near future put a post up on what day your looking at. I'd come up from Nebraska City just to take a look at some of the mods. A nice Sunday would work for me.
Doomraven 03-22-2011, 11:45 PM If everyone wants to PM me their contact info. I'll get something organized in the next couple of weeks if we have enough interest.
Doomraven 04-01-2011, 02:30 PM A couple of us are planning to get together at Oscars on 171st and Center next Thursday the 7th at 7:00. It would be nice to get all of the local guys together. Let me know if you can make it and I'll see about getting a room reserved for us or something if we get a bunch of people wanting to show. Should be good weather and a good show-and-tell session.

Terrible day for me! SHOOOT!!!!:(:banghead:
Keep me posted on the next time you guys are getting together.
Doomraven 04-04-2011, 08:07 PM Looks like the weather is going to be really crappy this coming Thursday so we'll have to pick another day. We're looking at either this Wednesday or maybe next Thursday, the 14th. Both work for me, but if we can get a day where more of you guys can show, then we'll do that one.

Doomraven 04-06-2011, 09:16 AM Alright, we'll try for next Thursday, same time and place. Hopefully, the weather will hold this time.
jspayne66 04-07-2011, 10:17 AM When you guys take your car to the dealer for warranty work, do you put the stock intake back? If no, what dealer do you take it too and has anyone ever said anything negative?
JSGT09 04-07-2011, 01:03 PM Alright, we'll try for next Thursday, same time and place. Hopefully, the weather will hold this time.
You know I'll be there!
When you guys take your car to the dealer for warranty work, do you put the stock intake back? If no, what dealer do you take it too and has anyone ever said anything negative?
I don't think you need to worry about removing your intake. It won't void your warranty so they shouldn't have an issue with it. I have never had mine in at the dealer for work but plan on taking it to Plaza for some things shortly.
jspayne66 04-11-2011, 10:16 AM Well, I put my Solo Mach Balanced exhaust on this weekend. All I can say is that if you are on the fence about purchasing one of their kits, do it!
Doomraven 04-12-2011, 12:30 AM Welcome to the Solo club man, I'll never do anything else!
alphabravomike 04-12-2011, 03:35 AM I didn't realize that there were so many G8's in Omaha, I've probably seen a few of you around town. Feel free to wave!
Speedchaser 04-12-2011, 04:26 PM Glad your happy with the Solo's. They are on my wish list but the wife's Escalade needs new front shocks. :whine: Looks like this Thursday might be hard for me to make it up for the meet at Oscar's. I'll still keep my eyes open for the next get together.
JSGT09 04-13-2011, 03:54 PM Well, I put my Solo Mach Balanced exhaust on this weekend. All I can say is that if you are on the fence about purchasing one of their kits, do it!
You need to come to the next meetup so I can hear it! I'm debating beween the Mach and Mach Shorty so being able to compare the two would be awesome.
Looks like rain again this Thursday, do we reschedule again?
Doomraven 04-13-2011, 04:37 PM Well, it's either show up in some rain this week or we can roll the dice again next week. Up to you guys. If you all still want to meet Thursday, I'm game for it or we can just wait and see what the weather does for the following Thursday, the 21st.
jspayne66 04-14-2011, 08:33 AM You need to come to the next meetup so I can hear it! I'm debating beween the Mach and Mach Shorty so being able to compare the two would be awesome.
Looks like rain again this Thursday, do we reschedule again?
I was going to try and go this evening, but my little boy is sick, so that pretty much sums up my evening.
JSGT09 04-14-2011, 12:54 PM I'm game for today if it doesn't rain, but sounds like more of a turnout if we shoot for next Thursday.
Damn April weather just keeps screwing us over!
Doomraven 04-14-2011, 03:40 PM Yep, let's shoot for next Thursday again. I got roped into going to a function for the UNO Alumni tonight so I won't be able to make it out anyway. So, new date is the 21st at 7:00 at Oscars and we'll just keep our fingers crossed that we can get some sunshine for a change.
JSGT09 04-21-2011, 10:26 AM Is everyone still on for meeting at Oscars tonight at 7:00? Car is dirty, and a chance of rain, but I'm in!
bboosalis 04-21-2011, 03:14 PM I'm also wondering what people are thinking for tonight.
JSGT09 04-21-2011, 04:09 PM I just talked to Jason (Doomraven) and he is out of town right now so I think we are once again postpone until next week.
Who all is in for Oscars on Thursday, April 28th at 7:00pm?
So far we have:
-JSGT09
-Doomraven
-Speedchaser
Speedchaser 04-21-2011, 04:18 PM I switched golf league nights to come up tonight. Oh well no big issue. I'll try to make it next week if that is what the game plan is. I'll keep my eyes open.
JSGT09 04-21-2011, 04:23 PM Ah sorry about that man. I'd still be up for grabbing a beer if you still want to meet. I cleared out my plans for tonight regardless. I'll shoot you a PM with my number, let me know!
EDIT: No meet tonight, April 28th is our next try.
See a few posts up for the attendee list. Let me know who wants to come and I will add you.
Doomraven 04-21-2011, 11:02 PM Sorry that I could not make it out tonight guys. I was called away to Denver on short notice and just got back in tonight. I've cleared my schedule out for next Thursday and rain or shine, I'll be out there ready to meet up with anyone else that wants to come.
Damn Nebraska springs are always unpredictable!
Speedchaser 04-26-2011, 07:50 PM Still on for this Thursday? Weather looks like it is finally going to cooperate.
Doomraven 04-26-2011, 07:51 PM You bet, we're still on! Mother nature's spring PMS is finally letting up enough to get out. My car will be dirty as can be, but I'm going to be there for sure. Hope to get a lot of you out there!
JSGT09 04-27-2011, 10:14 AM Glad we are finally going to get some decent weather on Thursday for once! Looking forward to it.
So far we have:
-JSGT09
-Doomraven
-Speedchaser
Anyone else coming out?
Doomraven 04-29-2011, 01:13 PM It was great finally getting to meet you guys. We'll have to get together again soon and hopefully with more people.
JSGT09 04-29-2011, 01:53 PM Good times! Now to order my exhaust...
Speedchaser 04-29-2011, 06:25 PM It was a real pleasure meeting you guys last night. When I went by Twin Peaks I felt a strong tug on the wheel!! Old age kicked in and wisdom made me head on home.
Doomraven 04-29-2011, 11:36 PM Sounds like you're suggesting the venue for our next meetup!
300King 05-11-2011, 01:10 PM I was in Omaha this past weekend with the family visiting my mother-in law who lives in the 170th & Harrison area. We drove my wifes Trailblazer for the trip because we needed the extra cargo space, so I didn't have my G8. But I saw a Stryker Blue GT filling up at the gas station at 168th & Harrison. Not sure if he is a member or not but he had a really sharp car.
I am going to try to get back to Omaha/CB a couple times this summer w/ my G8. My Dad and brother frequent the weekly Thurs night cruise-ins at Quaker Steak and Lube in CB. They say it is a good time and they get a lot of really nice cars there. I can let you know when I will be back in Omaha/CB if any of you NE guys would be interested in meeting an IA member.
Doomraven 05-11-2011, 06:46 PM I've never been to the car cruise-in at the Quaker-Steak, but I usually go to bike night on Wednesdays on my motorcycle. I may have to start making another trip out there. I'm always up for meeting more car enthusiasts. Besides the Mustang and Porsche guys, no one really organizes much around here.
bboosalis 05-18-2011, 04:25 PM Any of you guys ever been to the flashbacks show that is wednesday nights?
Supposedly they are trying to do a kickoff tonight and am wondering if any of you would be able to make it to meet some other G8 guys.
jspayne66 05-18-2011, 05:04 PM I have been to the flashbacks gathering in the past. I am unable to make it this evening, but should be able to meet up in the future.
Speedchaser 05-18-2011, 05:47 PM Can't tonight, but maybe in the future. Is that at Quaker as well?
Doomraven 05-18-2011, 08:11 PM I would be interested in showing up with the G8 to this. When and where is it?
JSGT09 05-19-2011, 03:46 PM I've been to the Quaker Steak show once last year. Not a bad time but rather far of a drive for me.
The Flashbacks cruise night is every Wednesday night. It's on 84th and Hascall, just south of Center, in the back parking lot by Hectors. I go up there quite a bit, only brought the G8 once last year...had quite a few lookers though.
Doomraven 05-31-2011, 12:35 PM I'd like to get another meetup together. With everyone's schedules, I'd like to purpose June 25th in the evening, which is a Saturday or the 26th in the early afternoon. Perhaps a meetup in the Old Market someplace, but it's always up for discussion on our meeting place. We have some people from out of town that I'd like to make it easier for them to work it into their schedules so I'm open to meeting places half way for you guys.
So, let's start with this...who's in for the 25th or 26th?
bboosalis 06-03-2011, 06:38 PM I've been to the Quaker Steak show once last year. Not a bad time but rather far of a drive for me.

I'll be at Flashbacks this coming Wednesday June 8th! You should try and make it out as well as any of the other G8 guys in Omaha!
I went a couple weeks ago and was the only G8 but there was a GTO and an LS3 swapped solstice that was pretty sick.
I don't want to undermine the meet that is being set up for late June but for a short notice get together for those who can make it, Wednesday it is!
Hope to see some of you there!
JSGT09 06-06-2011, 08:40 AM My weekends in June are pretty crazy...something during the week would probably work better for me. I could possibly make the 25th or 26th if it works for others schedules.
As far as Flashbacks this Wednesday, I'll have to play it by ear. I have a bunch of stuff going on Wednesday but was going to try to make it next week.
PS...ordered my exhaust, should be here by Thursday and on by the weekend!
Doomraven 06-06-2011, 12:06 PM Are you doing the install yourself or having a shop do it? I am going to try and make Flashbacks this Wednesday as well, but I have a lot going on this week with work.
Hope to see a few of you there if fortune is smiling on my schedule that day.
Speedchaser 06-06-2011, 01:01 PM I'm out for this Wednesday. Daughters surgery that morning. Still looking at the later part of month to meet up. Will post soon on what days look best for us.
JSGT09 06-14-2011, 11:42 AM I'm going to try for Flashbacks this Wednesday as long as the weather holds out...and I can wash the G8 before then!
Might see some of you there maybe?
Mariondale25 06-15-2011, 11:55 PM Saw two more white G8's last weekend. One on 168th and Blondo and one at the HyVee on 156th and Maple. Anyone here?BTW installed a GXP diffuser last week and for $60 it was a great addition. Nice to get rid of that hard to clean honeycomb on the stock GT one.
JSGT09 06-16-2011, 08:01 AM Could have been me both times! I live in that general area. What color G8 do you have and were you driving it at the time? GXP diffuser is a great mod for the price...looks better and as you said, much easier to clean.
BTW Flashbacks last night was pretty good. Had a lot of people asking about the car, and chatted with a GTO guy for a bit. One of these days we'll have to make that a meeting spot!
Speedchaser 06-16-2011, 04:53 PM Gonna see Doomraven tonight. What's people's schedules look like for the 25th or 26th as he was trying to get people to meet up in the Old Market area? Just seeing if there is any interest.
Doomraven 06-17-2011, 11:40 AM Spouses are more than welcome, also. I'll be bringing mine if we can get some people that want to hop on over. The 25th is looking very nice as far as weather goes.
JSGT09 07-07-2011, 03:29 PM Anyone interesting in going to MAM for their Friday Night Drags sometime soon? Anxious to get the car back to the track again.
Bring your girlfriends/wives too! Planning on bringing my gf so she would probably appreciate some non-car talk in the mix...heh.
Speedchaser 07-07-2011, 10:53 PM That might work. Still thinking a get together some Fri. or Sat. night in the Old Market area would work to. The wife would be more inclined for something like that and then we can work towards the MAM. I don't want to steer you away from going there now though. I think Doomraven might be interested in something like this.
Speedchaser 07-08-2011, 06:42 AM On a further thought. Are you talking about the track off I-29? If so, I don't think your going to get there any time soon with the flooding issues shutting the Interstate down. Or is this a different place your talking about?
JSGT09 07-08-2011, 01:49 PM Yes, it's by Pacific Junction. I-29 is still open in that stretch.
bboosalis 07-09-2011, 03:36 PM who wants to do a short cruise tonight say anytime between 7-9?
sampsonracing 07-10-2011, 08:01 PM http://www.g8board.com/forums/thumbs/8/300b9816cdcbd0ca51bee66fc412e32d_8359.jpg?dl=13105 25502 (http://www.g8board.com/forums/album.php?albumid=1458&pictureid=8359)Im from Fremont and have a 2009 G8 GXP white hot, onyx int. sun roof, 6 speed auto. currently only 1,500 miles on the car. I keep it garaged. It will be a collector car one day maybee my kids will enjoy it or get rich off it. LOL.
Doomraven 07-12-2011, 05:14 PM Keep forgetting to check this thread. I'm still up for a get together or a cruise night/evening. We just need to pick a date when everyone is free. There's quite a number of nice roads across the boarder in Iowa that we could cruise on for a little bit and then end the trip at a little restaurant somewhere. I'd be more than happy to draw up a route that we can take for an hour and then pick a good spot to eat at and mingle. Just need to know when people are going to be free.
HuskerG8 07-17-2011, 10:13 PM I just got back from a trip back home to Lincoln. We were visiting family and made it to Omaha a couple of times for some shopping and a visit to Joe's Karting. I could not believe the all the water/flooding on the Missouri and the Platte.
We were able to get reloaded with some new Husker apparel for upcoming season. We also made it out to Eagle Raceway a couple of times. It was plenty hot and humid though. It was making the Dallas area feel like a desert in comparison. It reminded me more of some recent visits to Houston in the summer time. Not good.
We didn't see a G8 in our travels in the Nebraska area until this morning on the way back to Texas. We saw a sport red metallic on 81 near Geneva and Panther Black just outside of Concordia. Both were headed north. We saw a total of 5 during the whole trip.
Go Big Red!
JSGT09 07-22-2011, 08:44 AM I keep forgetting to check this thread too. I'm up for a cruise/meet again sometime. My weekends are usually pretty busy, but I should around this Sunday late afternoon around 3:00 if anyone wants to cruise or meet up with short notice.
Or Flashbacks on Wednesday night is always a fun place, with maybe a cruise to Oscars or somewhere else afterward.
@sampsonracing, nice GXP! I have only seen one other GXP in Omaha.

Joes Karting...always a good time! Maybe a good place for a meet guys?
bboosalis 08-20-2011, 02:14 PM So does anyone want to meet up and cruise today for a bit? Again I know this is short notice but even if one of you guys would be able to meet up I think it would be worth it!
I would be up for anytime today!
Feel free to call me at 4024322050.

mustangchaz 08-21-2011, 07:46 AM I tried posting this in the classifieds but it would not let me so...2009 G8 GT with 32,000 miles (still under warranty) in Elkhorn, NE. Red Passion metallic with all options exc. sport but it has custom 19" wheels anyway and stock 18s. Magnaflow 3" exhaust (catback) and Vararam ram-air intake. Custom tuned at C and S which tuned the fastest G8 in the world (at one point). email me at mustangchaz2@cox.net for pics or more info.
Doomraven 08-24-2011, 04:17 PM Hitting Flashbacks tonight and have began going a little more regularly now. I hope to see a few of you there at some point before the weather turns crappy.
Cheers!
JSGT09 08-25-2011, 10:05 AM I need to get out to Flashbacks again sometime soon! Wednesdays have been kind of bad for me lately but hopefully one of these days I can make it out there.
PS...got my catback on, wish it was louder!

which cat-back system did you go with?
JSGT09 08-25-2011, 10:39 AM which cat-back system did you go with?
I went with the Mach Unbalanced. It definitely wakes up the exhaust noise but I wish I would have went with the Shorty. Although once I do headers and HFC's I think the Mach will hopefully be at the tone that I want.
Did you order you exhaust yet?

I did and installed it earlier this summer. I went with the mach-balanced. Its is very quite while inside the car (great since i have 2 young kids), but when trailing behind the car i think it sounds great, once again it will get louder when i do High flow cats as well.
Doomraven 08-25-2011, 12:24 PM Seems like the majority of us Omaha people have gone with Solo. I love my setup and it certainly gets the looks when you drive by. We'll need to put together a cruise or something through the CB hills or something.
Posidon42 08-31-2011, 09:34 PM I never knew this thread existed. I am in Bellevue too. Tomorrow I am driving to KC to pick up my second G8GT. The first was a SRM I bought new from Plaza. Stupidly sold it last year and have been kicking myself ever since.
So, anyone know of a good transmission shop in the area? My new car is being picked up with known trans issues. I tried calling C-S motorsports for them to repair and tune, but haven't gotten a response yet. CircleD and Century want way too much for their trans, but I need something other than stock to handle the 500+ rwhp :D Looking for some suggestions and it would be great to get together sometime.
Especially if any of you have done transmission repairs, lol.

Where are these mysterious 'hills' in CB??
jspayne66 09-01-2011, 09:04 AM So who has the black gt with Audi style running lamps (passed you on 72nd and Harrison yesterday around 5:30)?
JSGT09 09-01-2011, 09:32 AM Looks like we have three white G8's now! Wish I could recommend a good trans shop for you, but I haven't heard great things about C&S. What sort of trans issues does it have? Should be under warranty until 100k.
Posidon42 09-02-2011, 07:31 AM This is not a stock car and I seriously doubt GM is going to validate any warranty, especially since I am a second owner. Honestly, I am considering rebuilding it myself. I am getting a manual and have nothing but time :) Yesterday was a long day, but this thing looks great!
Speedchaser 09-03-2011, 09:20 AM So is Flashbacks the spot now on Wednesday nights? I would be interested since I have new days off. No hurry to get home for early wake up on Thursday morning.
Posidon42 09-03-2011, 09:05 PM never heard of it
Doomraven 09-06-2011, 01:12 AM I'm going to try and hit Flashbacks this coming Wednesday if we want to try and get a few people there. It's lonely always being the only G8 there. I should be able to make it there by 7:00 and maybe if enough of us show up, we can cruise to Oscars and grab some wings.
JSGT09 09-06-2011, 09:33 AM I'll be up there this Wednesday as well but I have to leave early, around 6:45 to get to my run at 7:00. I would skip it completely but I have a race on Saturday that I need to get one more run in before then.
Next Wednesday though I can stay until whenever! Hopefully the car stays clean until then...
Speedchaser 09-06-2011, 04:56 PM Weather sounds good for tomorrow. I'll keep an eye open to see if anyone else is interested in tomorrow. If not, maybe next Wednesday.
bboosalis 09-06-2011, 06:54 PM Tomorrow it is for flashbacks! So glad to see other guys are going to be making it out!
See you all tomorrow! I'll try and be tere
Speedchaser 09-07-2011, 06:07 AM So Flashbacks to start things out around 7. I may come up a little earlier. See you there.
JSGT09 09-07-2011, 07:46 AM Sorry guys, have a change of plans for today and won't be able to make it to Flashbacks. I'm definitely on for next Wednesday though!
Posidon42 09-07-2011, 03:55 PM My car is currently on jack stands in the garage so I won't be able to make it. Hopefully it should be good to go by the end of the month. Trans surgery in progress.
JSGT09 09-08-2011, 03:57 PM Short notice, but I'm going to stop by Quaker Steak & Lube car show tonight in Council Bluffs for a little while. Will probably be there until 7:00 or so.
Otherwise I will hopefully see some of you next Wednesday at Flashbacks!
Speedchaser 09-12-2011, 04:56 PM How does this Wednesday looked for everybody?
Doomraven 09-12-2011, 05:49 PM I'm planning on showing up. Hopefully, with a slightly cleaner car this time.
JSGT09 09-13-2011, 08:35 AM I'm planning on being there too as long as the rain holds out. I'll be there fairly early, around 5:00 since I'm coming right from work. Can you guys be there by 6:00? Probably our best bet of parking together.
Also, if anyone is looking for exhaust or winter wheels/tires, there is a guy on Omaha Craigslist selling some G8 stuff.
Posidon42 09-13-2011, 11:08 AM The exhaust and stall are mine, didn't see the ad for the winter tires. I am hoping to leave the car in the garage this winter, but due to a possible job change, might not be able to pull it off.
The parts for my trans should be in this week. Free pizza/beer for trans rebuild helpers (preferably with experience) this weekend!
As for Quaker Steak and Lube, do they have a car show every week?
Speedchaser 09-13-2011, 04:26 PM I'll keep an eye on the weather issue. Rain sounds slim now just cloudy and cold.
JSGT09 09-14-2011, 10:42 AM Doesn't sound like rain this evening, but with it having rained this morning and being so chilly I doubt there will be very many people at Flashbacks tonight.
I'm still game to meet up today but next week looks to be back in the 80's again if we want to postpone. Thoughts?
*EDIT* Ok so I'm editing my original post now. Looks like the sun is coming out and appears to be shaping up for a decent day. See you all at Flashbacks around 6:00!
As for Quaker Steak and Lube, do they have a car show every week?
QSL is every Thursday, not sure how long in the season they go though.
Speedchaser 09-27-2011, 07:23 AM Any plans for tomorrow night the 28th?
saxapl 10-02-2011, 06:25 PM Folks,
I have a like new GXP for sale just on the Iowa side of the river, near Glenwood. 4000 miles is all it shows.
Just thought if anyone in the area was interested, I'm willing to cut a deal for forum members.
You can check it out here.
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=307573704
Otherwise, since I just discovered this thread, as long as I have the car, I'll keep an eye on what y'all are doing in the area.
By the way, don't plan on trips to the Mid America raceway. Interstate is open, but the track has been underwater all summer and after seeing what that did to 680, I'm afraid to see what it's gonna look like when it reemerges.
bboosalis 10-31-2011, 10:23 AM Alright guys for a little suspension issue update which I'm sure you all have dealt with...my LCAs have been replaced in the past and the same popping/clunking noise that happens that never went away is being fixed again. Just had plaza replace strut bushings and bearings and now the guy says that the LCAs need to be replaced again and they are ordering the part. Funning thing is they have a set here but it is being reserved for someone with an appointment on thursday...this wouldn't be one of you guys would it lol? Anyways keep giving them hell and hopefully all this bull**** will eventually be resolved!
Take care guys!

Not mine, but I need to get it in for ANOTHER set too.
JSGT09 10-31-2011, 01:45 PM They are probably mine! I just had my car in last week to take care of them before my 36k warranty ran out but they had to order parts. I don't have an appointment setup yet though, so they could be for someone else too.
Worrying that after this winter I'll probably have issues with the strut bushings. Decided that I'm just going to order a set of poly bushings from Lovell's once that happens.
Interesting both of you are going back in again with the LCA issue. I know they just recently revised the TSB so hopefully the new LCA's are better.
Posidon42 10-31-2011, 10:22 PM Heading to Dynosport in Lincoln to get the car tuned sometime this week. Can't wait!!
vanilla13gorilla 11-01-2011, 08:07 AM Nope, not mine either. But I do need them done, again and the tranny flair (new pump shaft and seals per GM, new update) again, and the humming sunroof again. again, again, and again!!!.. Im ready to throw in the white flag and trade it in. I love this car but I would hate to see the CarFax and all of the times it was in for some kind of service. For 17000 miles, it has more issues then ANY other car I have owned, new. Kind of torn on what to do. Those 2012 G. Cherokee SRT8 with the new 392 might be on the 'to look at' cars... I cant believe I may be going to a Dodge, I gotta get my head checked out:slap:

I don't see it on their website. The one red G8 the do have is miscategorized as the Sport Red and doesn't have a maggie.
Here is a 2008 GT with the Holden front end. I wonder if I could buy that off them since my car is the same color... http://rustyeckford.com/Wichita/For-Sale/Used/Pontiac/G8/2008-GT-White-Car/3530830/
Bah, that one is in KS :(

Any idea which location it is at?
Not my ad, but it looks like a really good deal for anyone in the area looking for a Cortex:

jspayne66 12-07-2011, 08:45 AM Any idea which location it is at?
Sorry for the delyed response, my instant notification of messages is a bit out of wack. I assume Omaha (a friend of mine is a service advisor out their and told me about it). Although i agree with you that the red one listed on their website does not have a maggie.
