: charger r/t kill in stl
Gangsta8 08-16-2008, 01:36 PM In the stl we have hall st. a 5mile straight known for street racing since the 60's.
on this sat. night i ran up on a charger rt, first of all hemi's to me is over rated. guys think cause they have one they can beat the world "wrong". He had a cai, and flowmasters. i was bone stock. we started off, i took off no slipping, i heard his tires burning and by the time he caught grip i was a car ahead. i hit 2nd , 3rd i was pulling away from him. i ended up getting a 3 car lead on him.
he was pissing cause he paid 37k for his and i paid 29k for mine and i killed him.
it was a great for the g8
MANOFSTEEL69 08-16-2008, 01:41 PM Nice! I have made it my personal goal in life to embarrass as many as those over-priced sleds as I can.
LasT_ResorT_G8 08-16-2008, 01:56 PM +1 :iagree:
LS3 GXP 08-16-2008, 02:20 PM First off, street racing is stupid-keep it at the track. Nice kill nonetheless.

Nice Kill. I'm waiting to hand out an ass whippin' to the first 6.1 Dodge Challenger I see. That brick is going down! :driving:
...
mjorgensen 08-17-2008, 12:05 AM We are dealers for both and I can tell you that we just sent out a customers SRT Challenger with Kooks headers, Diablo tuner, CAI, and a higher stall converter. He is already running 12.8's at 111 and cannot launch without the ESP engaged. We are sourcing him half shafts and DR's, and at that point I'm sure we will see this 4325# car in the mid/low 12's. If you are in the Chicago area I would think twice.
On the other side though I'm awaiting our first modded G8 project to start soon and hope for similar numbers. Competition is nice remember!

R/Ts are 5.7
OP - nice kill. You guys get a lot more out of a tune than the 5.7s. Not so with the 6.1s.

That sounds like a nice setup (cruise to morning coffee in style and comfort, and knock out mid\low 12's later that night at the track). Schwinggggg:drink:

Sorry but Charger advocates need to stop comparing the G8 GT to the SRT. The G8 GT vrs the Charger R/T is a fair price point comparison. The SRT is 10k more. Further, when the GXP comes out, I am sure it will whoop the SRT and still come in at a lower price point.

Actually, if you read carefully, a GM owner starts the comparison. I paste that for you below.....

when the GXP comes out, I am sure it will whoop the SRT-8 and still come in at a lower price point.
Well, the GXP is not out yet, so you may be a bit premature. The preliminary specs on the GXP are not awe inspiring, kinda like a 06GTO + 200lbs. We all know that an SRT8 and a GTO are a 100% drivers race, so where does that leave the GXP?
CStringG8 08-18-2008, 03:48 AM First off, street racing is stupid-keep it at the track. Nice kill nonetheless.well then i guess you stumbled into the wrong sub-forum, chief, considering this is all street racing.

Of course he brought it up first, its a G8 forum. As you said, the GXP isn't out yet; Lets not compare it to the GTO (G8 GXP will have the LS3). Dodge Charger SRT8, base price of 40K. The GXP is anticipated to have a base price of 35k. These are still at a different price point.

The base price on the SRT8 Charger is $36,045. Also, 400Hp = 400Hp, whether it is coming from an LS3 or 10,000 gerbils on a wheel.

My apologies, I just checked the Dodge website and it said 40K+ base msrp. Anyway, we've prob highjacked this guys thread enough debating this.
Oh and not to be a smartass, but the LS3 power curve is much flatter than the LS2. Your horsepower equation is correct if you are only speaking peak.

Concise description of the difference between a GM and a Mopar engine!
stickjohnsonaah 08-18-2008, 07:52 PM not to mention better ability to put the power down with the suspension and a better rear gear over the GTO
LS2GTO 08-19-2008, 10:35 AM Great, another Charger vs G8 kill thread!
I'm waiting for the day the GXP G8 hit the streets for some real world performance data.
Seem like all the G8 hemi kills are always with the 5.7L hemi. Well duh! I read very few kills against the 6.1L SRT8 but that's expected. Keep modding G8 guys you'll get there.
:driving:
Deuuuce 08-19-2008, 10:38 AM not to mention better ability to put the power down with the suspension and a better rear gear over the GTO
It does have a better suspension and easier to launch. But a 3:06 FD isn't so good.

Except the 6.1 is 425hp/420tq.
Gangsta8 08-19-2008, 10:53 AM This a G8 forum, let us have our day, you mopar guys can kiss A$$, when the GXP comes we'll put it up against that sorry srt8. Until then im going to keep raping everything else mopar has. long live street racing

Nice to know there are fan-boys on sites other than the Stang Forums:). Still, most of the G8 guys are pretty cool, more like car enthusiasts.....
