I just got back from a 3000 mile trip, and was stunned as to how little the tires wore. I have the 19" summer ones, and they even had 11/32"+ when new. The rears were only down 1/32", and the fronts nothing. I made a lot of hard runs during the trip too, so it's even more stunning. Anyone else do tread wear checks yet?

no,but I have almost 9k on mine and only had them rotated at 7k cause they look new!
And believe me when I say that I drive hard!

If it's mostly highway, you can get away with longer before rotations. A 3K trip sounds like mostly highway, so the ware will be minimal. Do 3K miles on all curvy back road an those tires will see much more abuse.

Good to know that the 19" tires hold up well as far as normal wear goes...thanks, Z

As long as U keep up with your tire pressure, rotate them 5-7k and you aligment is half way decent U will get great tire life out of most, even the cheapest, of tires.

But that's just me!

Cheers!

10k miles on original summer performance tires. I am surprised by how much tread I still have, about 50%.

Yeah, these tires have really good tread life. But most importantly, the car is geared so you cant really spin the tires unless you do a burnout. I have 6k on my car and the rears still look new. My GTO would have had required at least two new tires by now.

8,500 miles on the all-seasons and mine still look pretty damn new. Very pleased thus far

10K, half gone?? Ouch. That is good for summer tires! My old bimmer were down to the wear bars at 14k with summer shoes....

Summer tires are typically 12 to 15k, get ready for new shoes every year, or switch to all seasons for 3 to 4 times the distance. Just look at the tire wear rating differences between summers and all-seasons that is marked on the side wall, you'll see!

I am happy with the tread wear, the Conti Contacts I used on my M6 wore much faster. As did the Pilot's I had on my Saab 95 Aero.

Wow, good to know. I really wanted the 19" wheels, but couldn't afford to buy a set of snow tires for the winter time. Now I'm even happier I got my all-seasons. That would be really expensive upkeep.

Tire wear depends so much on driving habits, road conditions, condition of the vehicle, etc, that it's hard to say with any certainty what a tire will get. If you drive aggressively, or lots of city driving, expect shorter wear. I've got the 19 inch summers, have almost 9000 miles on mine and have almost zero wear on them. But my driving is about 90% highway, which does not wear tires much.
