I stopped by Auto Zone this morning looking for some parts for my wife's car and I noticed out front a clean looking M45 (I'm not a fan, but it was well kept) cross parked in the lot to keep others away from him. I was inside talking to the counter worker about what I needed and he immediately started with "well this is what I use in my M45...muscle cars...etc". We talked for a while and he let me know that he just had an Infiniti CAI installed for $1400 that made his 4.5 V8 go from 340hp to 405hp!! 65hp for just adding a CAI??:huh: I had to bite my lip not to bust out laughing at him.

But all joking aside, I don't see much comparing a G8 GT to an M45. If I were to race, how do you see the outcome turning out? I have a Rotofab, Solo HFCs, X-pipe, Solo axle back and Livernois tune (incredible set up by the way!! Sounds awesome)

Take his money and then get ready for all the excuses: T/C was on or off, wrong gear for speed, not good from a dig, forget to top off his headlight fluid, etc, etc, etc....

You should beat him, but I've rented one before when traveling and they are crazy nice and drive good.

Well I owned a 2006 M45 before my G8 & first of all, it comes with 325 HP. It does have pretty good torque being rear wheel drive but no way it can take us. It weighs close to the same as us & handles decent but just will not keep up!!

I want to know what Auto Zone hired someone that thinks a CAI will give 65hp......I know you'll find people like that everywhere, but I never go to Auto Zone.

Pretty much what I was thinking the entire time. I would love nothing more than to "educate" him, but not sure I want to waste the gas and risk a ticket. But what do I know, he may have self smarted himself and I may be wrong. :burnout:

at most he was getting 45 more hp from his intake the last 20hp come from the stick on side vents located in aisle 3. :) god i love when people think there car is the fastest thing on the road. i am guilty of it all the time but there is always the one guy that just makes you laugh, usually involves a honda/toyota/nissan!

the best way to know if you car is fast is put someone in the passenger seat and punch it. if they say wow or ohhh, go buy another car or mod the hell out of what you have. if they go holy **** or start grinning like a kid at christmas then you are getting there.

Blah. The M56 is very nice though.

I've been back several times since with my car and he is never there or doesn't have his car...figures.

Probably blew up the car due to the massive HP increase from the CAI.

I sold Infiniti for a month (I got fired for not being AGGRESSIVE enough. It's ok. One of my customer's game a job :driving: ) I got to drive a used M45...I liked it. It has plenty of kick. But I don't think it has enough to beat a V8 with just an intake. But if I did not have a G8, I would have bought the one that we had with my employee discount!
