Just bought a 09 G8 GT black.... for the family hauler....I have a 67 nova with a Ls1 & 4l60e & I haven't touched it since my G8 showed up!! Great Power & not bad gas economy Too!! Drove from Great falls MT to Medicine Hat on 1/2 a tank of fuel & did 497 K Not Bad!! @ 90 Mph!! Any other Gt owners in Southern AB?

I haven't been following the tech on these cars ... what's the PCM update do?

Also, has anyone purchased the advanced remote fob for these cars? Looks pretty cool (small LCD display that can show you fuel level, doors locked, etc.). For ~350, seems like a neat toy to add. And I would imagine you can take it with you when you buy another GM car.

The dealer said they did it before I picked it up ... but can I tell for sure by the software version in the engineering mode display?

to be honest I don't know. I forgot to take note of it before I got the update.

If you've never used engineering mode, hold down the Enter button (left scroll wheel) as you start your car. The DIC will give you a whole bunch more parameters that can be monitored. It's pretty cool, you get temperature readouts, if DOD is active, throttle position, and more. One of them is the current software version. I'll check it out on my way home tonight and post my version.

look for
