: Ahh man...no inflation kit...

I knew going in the GT came with no spare, so I never looked. Talking with some of the guy's in the warehouse this morning they didn't believe that it didn't come with a spare, so of course I had to prove it to them. Well, looked in there and nothing but the styrofoam. Needless to say, after 3 months of ownership, it was a little embarassing to have to call my salesman this morning with that. He was real cool about it and said he would order one. Talk about feeling like a dumbass...:slap:

Are you sure? The inflator kit is under the stryrofoam, kinda hard to see...

Took the whole thing out and nothing is under or attached.

Don't feel to bad, mine was missing also.
The thing is, the dealer should have caught that when they preped the car for you.

Prepped? Is that when they should have noticed the pressures over 60 PSI????

For only a few bucks more they could have incorporated the inflator into the vehicle like my 6000STE and Bonnie SSE had, compressor under the hood, outlet in the trunk, auto-level shocks....

So I finally checked over the weekend. Took the styrofoam cap out and found the compressor, but that's it. Should there be a foam repair tube as well, do we only get the compressor, or is the foam buried under the compressor (I didn't bother taking it out of the styrofoam since it was packed so nicely)?

Thanks....

The compressor also comes with a container of tire sealant, capable of sealing a hole up to 1/4" in the tire. You use it just like you would Fix-A-Flat.

Once you use it, you get the container replaced at your local dealership.

The foam canister fits right on the compressor.
You should have one of those too.

Take the latex sealant can out of the compressor and throw it away, and go buy a tire plug kit.

Then order yourself a proper spare tire and a scissor jack. :)

Has anyone yet taken the spare from a V6 and fit it at all 4 corners of a V8 to check brake clearance? If it does fit it will have a domestic GM not Holden part number and may even be a good number from something that there are tons of in salvage yards.

V6s also come with a scissor jack?

Some kind of jack comes with V6. Otherwise what good is spare tire?

And it would only help weight distribution. Puzzling delete. It would be different if it was the Solstice with hardly any trunk, or if the tires were runflats. But bust out a sidewall and that sealant and compressor won't do anything.

Holdens have different part numbers for V6 and V8 spare tires (it's beyond me why they didn't use V8 spare across all models). Also, rim for the spare tire itself cost over $130-160 plus you need to the tire and pay for mounting. We sell V8 wheel and tire including shipping for $179.

Hey, easy there ... if or when you DO get a G8 GT just make sure you check for it.

But bust out a sidewall and that sealant and compressor won't do anything.I had read that sunroofs on V8's were limited due to the gas guzzler tax and the total weight of the cars, so if that were the case, the spare tire weight (and jack) would factor into that and could be the reason for the delete.

Lol over 2 grand for the replacement wheels alone! (laugh to self) well turns out everyone got a GREAT deal afterall....

I personally keep a full sized spare (ah o.k. a total other set with a total other set of wheels too) I sold my summer only because frankly not much use for them here in the midwest. Hmmm so thinking/asking do I need the inflation kit? Ah guess not right, that is what roadside is for after all. Or do I?

That's a good question!! Either way, I would enlist the help of my roadside guy!

With a spare, you can have the roadside guy change your tire, and you go on your merry way!
With the sealant you can have the roadside guy put that in the tire and you either go on your merry way or; pull it on to the flatbed.

With the sealant you have 50/50 chance that it won't work and you'll be stuck on the road waiting for a tow-away

I agree! You can't rely on a sealant. We all love the car and paid good money for it. Think about it...would you really want to rely on a sealed tire when the consequences are EXPENSIVE. I know the sealant is only to get you to the nearest shop, but it rarely happens that a shop is open or near.
