: Where is the sensor for the tire pressure monitor?

I had to get my wheels balanced this morning and the shop said the valve stems did not have sensors on them. I called the Pontiac dealer and they were unsure where the sensor is located.

There is no warning light on the dash or in the display so I'm not too concerned but curious to know where the sensor is at on these cars.

Hmmm... did they take tires off the wheels ?

G8 valve stems and sensors 2 parts but it still "on them".

Yep- hafta break tire down to see it. Measures pressure @ valve and sends to BCM Via RF I believe. (Each sensor has to be programmed to the vehicle) This makes rotating the tires a PITA. You have to rotate them and then program the new sensor position to the car.

Just got back from running errands and it took about 20 minutes for the dash to register a TPMS fault.

I purchased new wheels and the tire shop put the sensors programmed to the car in the new set. I put the stock wheels back on to make sure they were balanced (which they weren't) so I had them balanced this morning and the shop said they didin't see any sensors on the car.

See two posts above yours for description and pictures of the sensors. They are inside the tire, attached to the valve stem. The reason the shop must think you don't have any is because many of the current TPMS systems use a metal valve stem. If they don't believe you, show them the pressure readings on your DIC. :wink2:
