: Heads-up Display?
Richard Strebendt 10-24-2007, 10:36 AM I have not been able to get into Pontiac's G8 website because it demands a version of Flash that is not available for my version of Linux.
Can anyone tell me if the Heads-up Display is an option for any model of the G8?
I got it on my Bonney years ago and got a Grand Prix GXP largely because that was the only model that had the Heads-up display. Now that I have gotten used to having it, I miss it if I drive a car that doesn't have one.

Not currently listed.
I am also used to having a HUD - and have one on my 2007 Corvette...
Oh, well - maybe for 2009?

Ever hopeful....
I drove a 5-series once with it and it's a cool feature. If that is a deal breaker then you can always buy the aftermarket ones off ebay, that way if the next car your interested in doesnt have it you can swap!
Mike P 10-24-2007, 12:02 PM G8G, I didn't know they have them on Ebay, thanks for the info. or "heads up" if you will.... : )
I had HUD in my 04 GTP and loved it..... but its not a dealbreaker......
No prob! They're not as intergrated as the factory one but still serve the same purpose.

J Wikoff 10-24-2007, 09:47 PM An LCD projector built into the dash projects the vehicle speed, radio, turnsignals, brights, warning lights, etc, onto the windshield closer to the driver's line of sight. I love mine.

My Corvette also has a couple of different HUD modes that have different ways of displaying a graphical tachometer as well...
I hope there is either a 2009 MY or a running change to include this before I want to decide.

Who will miss this feature more than a little bit...

The speed is displayed as a digital readout (number) so that you can tell at a glance how much over the posted you are going without having to look away from the road to look at a gauge and interpolate the location of the needle to figure out (as you rear-end that truck) how fast you used to be going.
After you have used one and gotten used to having it just below your line of sight you miss it when you drive a car that does not have it.
PMD G8 01-02-2008, 10:51 PM For all of you HUD addicts this will have to do. The GTO has this feature also and I always leave mine in the MPH mode. I'm assuming since the Commodore gets it that the G8 will get it also.

Wow! Thanks for posting. I'd been wondering about this, having so far only seen still pix of the G8/Commodore DIC. I really enjoy my HUD (mainly for the speedo)... and the fact that the GTO DIC had a speedo display was a factor in my buying the 2005 GTO I had. That feature was a reasonably good substitute, IMHO, for a real HUD - and I did use it a lot.
DollarBill 02-14-2008, 08:34 PM WHAT! WHY!
I THINK I'M GOING TO CRY!!!!
Why didnt GM transfer the option from the Grand
Prix!!
I'm going to miss my HUD!!!

Seriously, i would think since austrailians love sportscars, this option would be on some of every vehicle! This sorta breaks my spirit....well not really. RWD compared to FWD is keepin my spirit together.
